I just don't recommend this Doctor He has been my primary care doctor for 17 years and as I get older, she gets richer. Unfortunately I have become so frustrated with this office that I have resulted to a petty yelp review. Every provider I've seen here (mostly PA's) have been amazing. They have been open to my ideas, answer all my questions and take me seriously. Dr. Nahla Salem herself even helped me with an urgent medical issue on a weekend without delay- something rare in this day and age. This review is for the people that work the front desk. Some of them are rude, dismissive, disrespectful and dishonest. On more than one occasion I have tried to communicate with them- at times serious medical issues and instead of relaying my concerns to a PROVIDER they take it upon themselves to give MEDICAL ADVICE. Unless the front desk administrative staff are working under some medical license that I'm unaware of this is illegal, unsafe and likely to get them SUED. Instead of being honest and seeking assistance when they come across something out of their scope of practice, they have chosen to insist that I come in person to communicate with a provider, refuse to leave a note for my provider or even let a provider know that I called. It's a shame that a place with great providers has a front desk staff that is so lack luster. For completeness there are plenty of front desk folks that are amazing here, it's unfortunate that a few VERY SOUR apples ruin the entire experience as a patient. read more

This doctor's office has the worst customer service I had ever came across. Nobody answers the phone and when I left a message, it took 2 weeks to get an answer back. Apparently, they don't know how to make proper referrals. I can't make any appointments because they haven't sent the doctor's order. 3 weeks with this issue and still no corrections have been made, even after leaving message and finally speaking with a person. I drove 30 minutes to this doctor's office and arrived only 7 minutes late. When I got to the front desk, the receptionist spent more than 10 minutes chatting with another patient in a personal conversation--definitely not work-related. After she finally finished, she told me she would check if the doctor could still see us. We waited another 30 minutes, just for her to come back and say the doctor would not see us and that I needed to make another appointment. This was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful of my time. If they planned to cancel the appointment because of being a few minutes late, they should have told us immediately--not after nearly an hour of waiting. I will not bring my mom here again read more

I wanted to come on here and make a special post to one of the nurse practitioners who goes above and beyond. Her name is Nour and I can't recommend her enough, to all my friends and family. Not every doctor or nurse, PA has good bedside manners but hers is fantastic. She takes as much time as I need to ask all my questions and thoroughly answers them helping me to feel comfortable about everything we discuss. Let me begin with this is not reflection on the Physician's Assistant Jasmine whom I've been working with for a while. She is wonderful! As for the front desk and billing department it is awful!! Some have attitudes and seem to dislike their jobs!! Upon each scheduled appointment I pay my co-pay in person the same day. For the past 5 visits I continuously get billed for the office co-pay! I have brought this to the attention of the office and have to continuously call the billing department to straighten it out and show proof that it was paid! They miss applying the co-pay for the visit to my account and have also been told lets hope it wasn't applied to another patients account! Their billing is now handled by a 3rd party located in New York! No one seems to know what they are doing. I was told they have a new database and a 3rd party billing department obviously doesn't seem to be working out! The front desk is in need of training if things are not getting applied properly! I show proof of each co-pay and there should never be a balance but it never fails I receive another statement! The billing department ends up coincidently disconnecting my phone calls because they don't want to figure it out! Try calling Dr. Salem's office and no one ever answers the phone or returns your phone call ever! When you try to connect with the office manager per the automated system nothing happens and you just hear a beep. I have again contacted their billing department to straighten this out and of course got disconnected and had to call back and start over again with another rep. He now tells me he will call me before the week ends to let me know it's been resolved. This time I took this persons name down. For this reason, I do not recommend this medical office. I've never met Dr. Salem and have only worked with her physician's assistances Jasmine and Sabrina. Both are wonderful! Dr. Salem does not seem to be concerned if I as a patient keep bringing this to the attention of her office and nothing seems to get resolved! My visits to this medical office will be coming to an end soon due to my medical insurance group no longer will be accepted. Now that I will need to find another PCP, I decided to take the time in providing a review of the frustration I have had to endure with this office. Please save yourself the frustration and choose another medical office! I promise you will thank me!! read more

Absolutely horrible front desk. I've been with them for over a year now and every single time I ever try to contact the front desk, I am met with attitude and what seems like uninformed workers. No friendly greetings, no signs-offs, just picking up the phone and hanging up, with a lot of judgmental responses at the patient for asking questions inbetween. On top of having zero customer service, the people answering the phone don't seem to know their own information. I ask a question, and I'm met with "umm's" and "uhhh's" dancing around the question until its finally "I don't know" or that I have to call someone else (when, in some cases, I actually shouldn't have to at all!). Not to mention that some of the "press number __ to speak to someone" options on their automated message system just leads you to an empty dial. On my most recent call with the front desk, I asked if there was any sort of platform with a form or survey that I could report a review/complaint at. The receptionist answered no. But when I asked if I could do it through their Yelp or Google, she agreed that would work. Convenient, how they don't claim there's anywhere to voice our reviews, yet they're aware Yelp and Google are available, and easily could have listed them. Sometimes I can't tell if the receptionists play dumb like this and just don't want to give patients their information, or just don't know the basic information about their own place of practice. Judging by the 1 star review ratio on their Yelp, I'm wondering if they even check the things we complain about here. And to agree with some other reviews here, I have also had instances where I've paid my copayment the same day as my appointment at the office, and received several bills in the mail demanding a payment that I have already made. Ridiculous. Even if it's through a third-party, if it's happening this many times, get it in check. Ending my service with them immediately. read more

I have had the worst possible experience I've ever had with an office before. Being hung up on, declined phone calls, being told tens of times that paperwork was being faxed when it never was. Causing me to have to go in person to make sure it got done, yet it never even was. I have had a torn ligament for three months because of this back and forth. I have been given absolutely no apologizes, fixes nothing. I've expressed, kindly, all the mishandling and I have been literally hung up on. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Nahla Salem and her team! Dr. Salem is an incredible doctor--thorough, knowledgeable, and always attentive to my concerns. I'm not usually one to leave reviews hopefully staff management continues to hire employees like these because they're the ones that make stressful medical decisions easier and less worrisome. I called to inquire about potentially choosing this doctors office to entrust with my medical needs and questions and was met with an astonishing experience. I believe the individuals name was Natalie, I didn't catch the last name so hopefully there isn't multiple. Nonetheless Natalie was highly attentive and compassionate towards my questions and concerns regarding becoming a patient. She reassured me extensively ensuring my questions were answered. I understand it's her job to do that but her voice and character over the phone showed this office does care about receiving new patients and ensuring the processes run as smoothly as possible. Highly recommend this office! The front office staff made the check in process seamless + I didn't have to wait long in the waiting room. Nour Aqeel PA at the office usually runs on time which is a plus given that I try to squeeze my doctor visit in between work hours. She is amazing and takes her time to listen to all my problems and doesn't rush through my visit. Nour is very thorough and explains things in a simple way for me to understand. I'd listen to newer reviews. This was my first time at this office and I wasn't even seen. I waited in my room for 32 minutes as the PA was running behind. I decided to leave for waiting so long. Complete waste of my time. First and last time at this practice. I do not recommend going here. That is a very long time to have a patient wait. I think they've taken on more than they can handle and keep bringing in more patients. This making the wait longer and longer. I was just going to refill my allergy nasal spray that is a prescription and come to find out the Jasmine one of the I think practitioners there decided to take it upon herself without notifying me whatsoever that I'm no longer a patient of theirs. I've been coming here for little over a year or so and I am incredibly saddened by my experience today. I have been having some difficult scheduling issues because my job hours are not normal. So, I've had to reschedule and cancel a lot of appointments and wait months in-between. Because I was told I needed to come into the office to see a physician in order to get an MRI referral. Finally after many, many rescheduled appointments I come to the office, late, after driving from Riverside, left my house an hour and a half early to make my morning appointment. But the thing is, I can't predict traffic flow. An hour and a half was plenty of time to get from Riverside to HB, to me. (Also it started random sporadic raining that really slowed things up on the freeway) I get to the office late, and there's only me in the lobby and another person being seen by the doctor. I beg, please this situation is a referral it will only take 5 minutes, I don't have much to say. And I was told I would not be seen. Then they offered me a phone consultation. The very thing that I was told by someone else that I had to come IN the office and do a referral, this original person I spoke to months and months ago did not TELL me there was an option to do this. And I have been cancelling and rescheduling for months. I drove nearly 2 hrs to come to this office to be sent away, and then to be told there was a phone option that I could do for the referral. I didn't want to argue with the staff as that's rude. But it's very unkind, and unsympathetic. I generally have had a good experience here, I've experienced long wait times in the lobby-- when I had a normal 9-5 job and could make it in regularly--as other people have noted in the reviews. I'm extremely disheartened by my experience today. Now, I'm going to drive back to Riverside, only to receive a phone call that could have saved me from this whole predicament in the first place. I'll continue to stick around and get this referral to get to the bottom of an issue I'm having, but I clearly need to find a place with more flexibility and better hours for my job situation. read more

Then she never sends paperwork to the specialists. When we got to the specialists the doctor just looked at us. We never received paperwork on you. She never touches him. I hate to write this negative review but I have to. My experience in dealing with the front desk was atrocious. First, I love Dr. Salem. She came across like a caring doctor. Too bad the front desk can't follow her example. I was given a referral. Was told this referral approval would show up on my portal. Several days later, I never saw anything. So, I called and called and go the run around by Leslie and the others. I called my insurance to verify my referral had been sent to them. The insurance didn't show any record of receiving any referral. I'm not sure what the issue is here. I have to believe that they're playing with people's health by not returning phone calls and by leaving patients on hold and by not following up on IMPORTANT referrals. The Medical Board needs to look into this before something bad happens to someone. I will have to change doctors immediately. If you value your life, don't go here. read more

I came here for the first time for a check up. I normally dont like going to the doctors but my friends told me good things about the PA Nour so I decided I would go get a check up. Just like I heard from my friends she was very caring and nice. I didnt feel rush during the visit. She listened to all my problems and was able to answer all my questions. How are you going to get a 1 star review from a patient you've never seen before? Maybe by not giving the patient a single opportunity to be seen by you.... It all started when I chose Nahla Salem as my PCP. United Healthcare's website told me she had an office in Irvine where I work. But once I chose her as my PCP i found out her office was basically on the edge of Orange County (but honestly I blame UHC for that). In November I called to make an appointment for a pain I was having in my shoulder. I called several times and the only human interaction I was able to receive was "please hold". When your work hours are the same as their office hours, it's not very reasonable for you to expect me to stay on hold for 45+ minutes. I ended up giving up and had a medical professional friend diagnose and the issue resolved itself. In March I had a severe ear blockage that was causing pain and as of this time I still can't hear out of my left ear. Again, I called several times, each time being on hold for a ridiculous amount of time before I had to hang-up. Only one time did I call at 2 in the afternoon on a Thursday and I was on hold for 55 minutes before I was told their office was closed? They did not give me an option to leave a message, they say you can press zero and leave a message but this does not work. There is no getting through to this office. Fortunately I was able to call United Healthcare and have my PCP changed. I called the NEW PCP today and I was on hold for a total of 60 seconds and confirmed an appt for 3 days from now. If you feel like waiting upwards of 1 hour to be seen, this is the place for you... I had an appointment for 1PM, which by the way, I waited over a month for. As a first time patient, I arrived 10 minutes early to fill out paperwork. After asking the receptionist how much longer the wait was going to be, I was finally brought back to a room at 1:45pm. At 2pm, the receptionist stopped in to say it was going to be an additional 10 minutes before the Doctor could see me. At that time I decided to leave the office. If I have an appointment at 1PM, it means 1PM! NOT 1:30, 1:45 or 2PM. I find it ironic that they make you sign a form stating that if you, the patient, are late or a no show, that they will charge you a fee of $25.00 for the "inconvenience" it causes, which I completely agree with. But let me ask you Dr. Salem, does it go both ways? What about the inconvenience it causes your patients when you are an hour late? What about the inconvenience it causes your patient when you over book? Should I the patient charge you for the inconvenience? If I have an appointment at 1PM, should I show at 2PM? This is very poor customer service in my opinion. Needless to say, I won't be returning here and I advise others to seek another Dr. read more
