I have developed a nail fungus from dip powder after having my nails done at Nail Lounge several times. It looks terrible and the owner said it isn't fungus. I have had another opinion and it definitely IS fungus. Please beware. Either the two people who did my nails were not careful or the powder is contaminated. Beware. Holy wow! My new favorite nail salon. The staff are amazingly helpful and kind, Sarah did my no-chip manicure and pedicure and she was gentle, efficient and asked me a lot of questions about my preferences. Not to mention she was super easy to talk to and sweet! The staff spoke more to their clients than each other, and I don't know about you but I like feeling like I can socialize with people while I'm relaxing opposed to feeling ignored ! My mom is old school when it comes to technology, so she asked me to get into my yelp account and write a review for the Nail Lounge in Machesney Park. She and her best friend have been to the Nail Lounge at least a couple of times at this point. The two of them went to another place in the area, and they both said, "It was very dirty." YUCK! Andy is an attentive manager, and makes sure that everyone is pleased with their service before they walk out the door. Going for a mani/pedi after Sunday mass is something my mom and her best friend like to do, so it's great that this place is open on Sunday. I got my nails done today for engagement pictures. I had called in and made an appt. for 12:30. They got me in right away which I was very pleased with. I don't remember the guys name, but he did an incredible job with my nails! I am so happy with them! He made sure multiple times that I was okay and that I was liking the length, color, etc. as he was doing them. Fabulous nail salon! This was my fourth visit and I have never been disappointed. I have never asked for anyone by name and have had visits with four different technicians. All of them were wonderful. All of the technicians work very much as a team in helping each other in an effort to expedite whatever services you are having. That being said, the visits never seem rushed and all of the technicians have been very accommodating, friendly and professional. I walked in for a pink and white ombré overlay. I forgot to say the ombré part so they thought I wanted a French. Got it. My fault. I didn't specify the ombré. So I decided to just go ahead and remove the old dip powder I had. This took OVER 1 HOUR!!! I was still charged the $10 even after that ridiculous wait. When I got there I sat in a chair for 15 minutes nobody acknowledged me or said 'so and so' will be with you soon, NOTHING. Until I asked if I was gonna be seen. Then they said they couldn't do the ombré because they were short staffed and the other 3 employees there weren't trained in ombré OR dip powder, there was only one person that knew how to do it. Ok so I still gotta pay for a long drawn out service, let me say that the nails weren't even shaped or filed. $10 for scraping product off my nails in an hour and a mediocre service at that. I don't think the girl doing it knew what she was doing. Maybe you need to train your staff in more than no-chips. Never again. read more

I went in yesterday to have my eyebrows done and get a pedicure. The guy that did my eyebrows was very gentle and took his time. I've had a horrible experience at another location close by I wont say which one. That lady just about ripped my skin off and I was red for 2 weeks 2 whole stinking weeks. So It was nice to have the exact opposite experience. The lady that did my Pedicure did a wonderful job as well. It's nice and clean. The people that work there seem very friendly. So I recommend trying this place out. I will be going back!! read more

I was apprehensive about trying a new place being from out of town and not knowing what to expect. This place provided friendly service with attention to detail. This was my 2nd visit here. I had a no chip mani and pedi. Very clean and from what I saw most of my all workers spoke English. My no chip mani was great, I wish I remembered the guys name. He was very kind and patient, I could not pick a color for the life of me. I work in a hospital setting and appropriate colors are very limited. I typically like when the same person does both hand and feet but understand this is not always possible. When I went to have my pedi done the guy barely spoke and when he did my French tips I could see particles of something underneath the clear polish, I thought it was pretty visible and that he would fix it but he did not. I'm not one to fuss so I left it, however it was enough for me to not go there again. I have driven 20-25 minutes to get there because I thought it was a salon I could rely on to do a good job at all times. Though it may not seem like a significant issue to change my mind about the place I would rather not go back not knowing if my nails would like nice or not. read more

Wonderful experience here!! Such a great price and great quality! I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure. It took about 2 hours, which was longer than I expected. However, they did such an incredible job plus they guarantee their work for 2 weeks, so if it starts to chip, she told me to come back in and they'd fix it. Too much to type-bad quality, customer service, quality vs quantity (if you're short staffed stop taking walk-ins esp if that means that people with appts suffer in quality), etc. appt does not take priority over walk-ins and they tried guilting me bc they had to fix a problem they caused ! I have had two experiences at salon. First, I had gel nails applied with a no chip manicure. With in 6 days, 3 nails had begun separating from my nails. I went in to have those fixed and the polish changed. The tech who worked with me asked "how long have you had these nails and where did you get them done?" I explained that they were from the Nail Lounge and not even 2 weeks old. He fixed the damaged ones and applied new polish. I felt extremely rushed (even with an appointment scheduled) and as I was leaving noticed some sides of nails weren't even completely coated revealing the false nails. Wouldn't recommend. read more

This place is always a hit or miss when I go. After this past time however, I will not return. I brought my mom for a mani-pedi for Mother's Day. My nail tech got up during my pedicure about 6 times to do other things and was gone for around 5 minuets each time. He didn't properly clean under my toes or massage and rushed through my pedicure. In fact, my pedicure finished at the same time as my mother whose tech was working on her the entire time. This continued on as I got my manicure. I understand they get busy with calls and training but I don't come to get my nails done just to be rushed and ignored by having to wait every 5 minuets for my nail tech to return. My no chip nails also chipped the very next day. My mother was satisfied with her nails and technician thankfully, but I will not be returning! read more

I had hope for this place since the first time I visited they got me in right away and did a decent job taking off my no chip. I made an appointment for 10:45 today and here I am a half hour later still "soaking" because they took walk ins. I'm not in a major rush so I'll sit it out but if I was in a rush I would be sad. Another lady walked in at 11am with a 11am appointment and twenty minutes later she's still waiting. Feel bad for her too. If you have time to wait this is still a good place. I love Moriah. She's the reason I'll be back. She's very nice and tries really hard to do exactly what you want. She felt so bad I had to wait. If you're getting a pedicure pay the extra five bucks for the special version, it's totally worth the extra massage and makes your legs feel so soft. My sister and I decided to meet for a mani/pedi and some girl time and chose the Nail Lounge based on the online reviews. I'm pleased to say that we weren't disappointed. The staff were approachable, friendly, and professional. As we walked out, we both agreed that if these manicures held up well, we have "our" salon and would do this regularly.
