My quest for a new nail place continues. There are plenty of spots designated for the nail salon in the garage. I walked in during a non peak time and was seated immediately. It's clean, spacious and well lit. I said I wanted a pedicure and at no point was I asked "what time of pedicure." So I guess they only have one type of pedicure, and that's reflected in the price being $30 rather than $40 plus. I was asked if I wanted something to drink, my favorite question at the nail salon. Today walked in tiki nails expecting I had an appointment with Mimi walked in and they tell me she's out of the country. Bad customer service . Which I scheduled this appointment Sept 2 and tell me you out the country is not go customer service. I text her and spoke with her while I was in the shop she's apologizing. I came in on Sunday afternoon, when I walked in I was completely ignored. After about 10 minutes a man asks me to come back tomorrow. I asked the lady (Dulce) who had done my nails previously if she would be available Monday afternoon she said yes 5pm. I called before I came in just to make sure, they said she didn't come in today! "Sure, I'll take a glass of wine please!" This place totally gets it. I've been coming here for a few months now after my long time nail tech, Julie, transferred to this shop. By long time, I mean literally half my life, I've been going to her and I will follow her wherever she goes. She is the best!! Nail Tiki is conveniently located near the PG Plaza metro station and there is reserved parking for customers in the adjacent garage :) So, back to the wine. They offer different beverages - wine being one, mimosas, sodas, and water. This place makes you feel very relaxed and after a long day at work, I look forward to coming here and treating myself (self-care is crucial). I typically do a gel mani and pedi. I've finally learned my lesson and will stop going here. Despite its super convenient location, this salon just isn't worth it. I normally get a dip mani and regular pedi. Most times, I'll go to my regular spot, but when I'm pressed for time I head on over to Nail Tiki. They have yet to give me an even dip manicure. It's always slightly thicker than I want and uneven, even when I point it out to them. The icing on the cake at my last visit was being told that I will now be charged an extra $10 for the manicure part of my dip MANICURE. I don't mind paying for quality, but it's ridiculous to now pay $90 for a subpar dip manicure and regular pedicure. Enough is enough. The only saving grace is that my pedicures are always good. Over the weekend I visited Nail Tiki and it was a great experience. This was during the Corona virus pandemic so I was a little hesitant to be outside of the house, but my nails were barking for attention. Atmosphere: The shop had a good amount of people getting services. Once again, this was during the pandemic so most people were quarantined. Overall, the music was great, the technicians were friendly, and everything was clean Service: The pedicure was great! This was my first time getting a scrub on my legs and a 15 minute massage. I was disappointed because my technician could not recreate a simple tribal print on my fingernails. Overall, I am happy with the results of everything. It has been 4 days and my regular polish has not chipped yet which is great! Would I come back? Yes, I would come back if I want a basic polish. The owner seems to be inexperienced in business. The first time I received service, the nail tech used too much product and did not shape my nails well. The second time I went, I set an appointment at 10am when they open , and I watched several other people who seemed like walkins being served before me. This last time, I had an 11am appointment and gave them two hours for a dip manicure with my natural nails and a regular pedicure. I watched as the owner took in more and more walkins and scrambled to get staff to serve them. I am a business woman myself and can respect the need to make money, but not at the cost of the customer experience. They did not finish and told me to come back "around 2". Came in at 2:10, waited for 30 minutes and when I spoke to the owner he said that I "threw them off by not coming right at 2." My nail tech who I have been visiting since I was in school transferred to this salon, so naturally,​ I followed her. They offer various services and libations during your service. White wine, soda, mimosa, and water are all complimentary during your visit. My nail tech, Julie, may be one of the best in this area. I only get either a gel manicure or the dip powder, but from what I can tell, Julie is a wizard when it comes to clean, precise and natural nails. She takes her time, and it is evident when you see the finished product. She is so good at her work that I am willing to commute upwards of an hour to receive the outcome she produces. A friend of mine who hadn't had her nails done in over a year; was in dire need of some major pampering. So I headed to Yelp and searched for nail salons near me. Nail Tiki was about 4 or 5 on the list and I chose it based on the quality of work and ethnicity of majority of the clients. And let's just say, it was a rainy day oasis and a blessing in disguise. Nail Tiki is clean and spacious. They provide a wide selection of polish, dipping powders, and beverages. The mimosa's are flavorful but don't expect to get tipsy. The staff is very pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. My friend was a little skeptical about getting the pedicure since after she was shot she wasn't sure how her legs would respond. So I asked the staff if it was okay and they assured us everything would be fine. Let's just say my friend highly enjoyed her service. It turns out she my friend wasn't the only testimony. Mid service one of the nail techs shared her testimony about being a 6 year survivor of gun violence and gave my friend some motivating words to never give up. The care and attention the staff provided us will never be forgotten. In addition to quality of service we will definitely be returning in the near future. The worst experience in a nail salon. The salon itself was cute and reviews were good so that is what made me want to go here. However when I was getting my pedicure the nail tech, Peter, was having trouble painting my toes. Started talking in viet to the other nail techs and they started staring and laughing but then decided to crowd around me and continue laughing and looking back at me while talking to each other. I proceeded to ask what was the problem and he said nothing. Then the other nail techs were laughing. So at this point I'm just ready to leave but they already started soaking off my sns polish. I asked for SNS and asked if it was possible to do pink to white ombré with that. They said YES. NO, they were about to start with gel. I told them that gel does not work well with my nails , as it causes them to break easily. The tech told me it is like sns and that it was a gel powder. Long story short I have an "ombré" which looks like I'm in need of a fill the techs continued to point and crowd around me saying words about ombré and coffin (which I was getting) (I was also the only person there) and laughing. I just went to this place, it's very clean and they are friendly and work pretty well, I don't remember the name of the person who helped me but she was nice the only thing , she couldn't answer some questions cause' of the language barrier but otherwise it doesn't matter she did a good job, the instruments they used seemed sterilized , they even come in a sterilization pouch which is a plus ! Also the price is not bad , Im not an expert since I don't usually do my nails frequently but for a manicure and a dip powder they charged me 60 dollars , so I guess it's not that bad, I have to mentioned that I left the size of my nails as they were before getting anything done.
