Sinks to wash hands during manicure

I've been coming to this place on and off since 2014, their work had been consistent and staff is always friendly. They offer beverages and is kind of an up scale nail salon. I always recommend an appointment- (Nancy will get you right!) She's fast, efficient and has a great personality! They also offer some massage options in the back!! Another tip- they have a separate 2 seat pedicure room if you need privacy, don't be afraid to ask!

    Thank you Jessie.

Thank you Jessie and Justin. We came all the way from Cali just for you. Quick and efficient. Great service.

I found my new nail Tech - Jonathan. I booked a few times previously with other Techs - despite the negative reviews - but the location is convenient, so I risked it. During the previous visits, I faced language barriers and confusion about simple designs and the finished product would not be what I wanted, but it would be presentable. Yesterday, I decided to give them another chance. I searched Yelp, and saw that Jonathan was mentioned a few times, so I booked with him and I have no complaints. He was pleasant, thorough and delivered exactly what I asked for: -SNS (which included a mani, almond/stiletto-shaped, with a few tips) in white -Lemongrass pedi (which included a hot stone massage & paraffin wax) in white -And a bonus glass of red wine This was the perfect cap to the work week.

    contact dermatitis

this is contact dermatitis, it's caused by unsanitary soaps, scrubs, utensils etc. No you are NOT allergic to acrylic as they will try to make you think. I've HAD acrylic for years and the one time I come to this nasty place I'm exposed to a health concern. don't waste your time money or insurance. while i did receive a refund it was NOT WORTH the time i'm taking to heal. SMH also the nails in the video I did myself (press ons) after having them remove the atrocities they originally put on which cause all this. Just don't waste your time and hard earned money.

I've been coming to this Nail bar for almost 4 years! And with all the COVID protocols in place for over a year I've. Even able to get pampered as I've schlepped into the office during this worldwide pandemic. I love love love my technician Leslie! I make appointments to ensure that I have a specific time I can come and get seen. But it's the private rooms that I enjoy this most This salon has: 2 separate rooms for lashes & waxing 1 room for massages & a steam shower 4 private pedicure rooms 20 nail stations separated by industrial plastic 12 pedicure stations separated by industrial plastic Your choice of wine, juices, water and sodas while your serviced along with an assortment of candy & potato chips.

    The inspo nails I wanted

The nails that I wanted were not at all what I asked for. They were bumpy and streaky. I had to go home and buff the tops and put my own clear coat on the top to even remotely redeem them. I didn't go back to get them fixed because I had already wasted my time and felt they wouldn't fix them correctly. The sliver chrome is what I wanted and the white is what I had to fix.

Honestly one of the worst salons in the area. They don't care about your nails or service. Just go somewhere else. Asked for just a clear gel manicure after having a really bad dip experience here and this is how I had to walk out. My nails were missing most of the clear polish and she said "done" had her take it right off. **Also they just repackage the nail utensils without cleaning them.

    Wine and a pedi? Sure!

In a shopping center that I wouldn't think to go to is this hidden gem! Complimentary water, soft drinks, or wine with your service? Check! (I'll take a glass of white, please.) Semi-private rooms for pedicures? Check! (My mother and I were in a 2-person room for our pedicures.) Reasonably-priced and a wide variety of services? Check! Definitely will make this my new "go to" spot for a mani/pedi.

This is literally the WORST dip powder set I've ever had. The person who did my nails was an older lady. She shaped my nails horribly. I actually picked up the mail file to demonstrate the shape I wanted. She said okay and then proceeded to file my long natural nails down and shape them in an undesirable shape. Further, my nails are lumpy and you can actually SEE BRUSH STROKES! When she wiped my hands with the hot towel there was a clump along with a long strand of hair on my hand YUCK I came here three weeks ago and had a great dip manicure from another nail tech. I really want to like this place but the service is EXTREMELY INCONSISTENT. My nails look worst coming out than they did going in My old salon went up in prices due to covid - I appreciate the $45 dip price but this honestly looks terrible. Now I feel like I wasted my time which is worth more than money. I think this was the last straw for me... officially crossed off my list of options! Today's pictures are in the car.

Lost nail in less than 2 weeks

Ok I don't t know if they are cutting products but I had a full set on 6/19 by Monday middle finger gone Tuesday other middle finger gone went back on Friday 6/25 they charged me 10 bucks to replace(wow). Then the index finger pops off on Saturday one week of a fill and 3 nails gone. Now today a thumb popped off. Now I've never had a fill this bad where nails are popping off less than 3 days after service. I'm going to give them one more try but if my nails start popping off I'm NEVER going back bc this means you have changed your product to cut cost. This is NOT quality work I'm use to from this place my nails normally last a month! What are you really using on my peoples nails. Side note: the 2 middles I didn't post but after the 3rd nail I had to.

This doesn't look like a fresh gel polish at all
    Patrice J.

Nice salon with a pleasant aesthetic but underwhelming service. This is my first time visiting (literally just left the salon!) after my normal nail tech couldn't fit me in. It was a nail emergency and I found this salon on Google. Listen to the reviews! The nail tech was very nice and made me feel very comfortable however the quality of my gel polish isn't what I'm used to. The end result isn't smooth at all. My nails feel bulky and unfinished. My impatience cost me $$$.

Came here long ago when I lived in Bowie and don't know why I really stopped. Very beautiful atmosphere and wonderful customer service. They offer a variety of beverages and snacks while getting serviced. Price is reasonable and results are great. Definitely coming back.

Luv that I can make a same day appointment the staff cares about your experience I attempted dip removal at home disaster almost destroyed my natural nail The manager did my nails no judgment it was perfection I really appreciate his professionalism & perfection I also had a pedicure it was a language difference I believe she didn't actually get what I was asking for however it still looks great Here is a sample my suggestion is go when it's a relaxing time know what u want & enjoy a beverage

I had such a great experience here! My nail technician (I think her name was Cathy or Katy--I'm so…read moresorry if I'm getting that wrong!) was incredibly thorough, gentle, and paid so much attention to detail. We actually went over closing time, but I never felt rushed, and neither did she. She really took her time to make sure everything was perfect, and I appreciated how clean and sanitary everything was throughout the appointment. The salon itself has such a peaceful, serene atmosphere, which made the whole experience even more relaxing. They also offer complimentary snacks and beverages, which was a really nice touch. The only downside is that it's a little on the pricey side, but for the level of care, cleanliness, and overall experience, I think it's worth it. I'll definitely be coming back!

I was a customer for about 5 months. No problem with dip powder until I decided to try the gel set…read morecalled "Tiana Collection" As Ken started the set, I noticed a burning sensation after the 2nd nail was done. I let him know it was burning and suggested he lower the UV light that he used to set the gel. He mentioned that the light only had 1 setting and that he couldn't change it. As he continued, I suggested to move the heated UV lamp further away from my nail bed as the temperature and position he had it in was burning my nail bed. I mentioned this as a reminder several times. When I got home that evening, I had to take Tylenol and add ice to my nails to sooth the burning sensation. At this point, I was concerned because the burning radiated from my fingers up my arms. Went the at shop opened, I contacted Ken to let him know what happened. He had me come in to remove the gel. I also asked for compensation, at least a percentage of my money back or have him do dip set later. Jennifer told me they took the gel set off, and took time doing my nails, so there was no compensation or refund of any kind. I suggested to file an insurance claim as this was an injury due to a product they provided. She told me insurance will not pay for it and she didn't see whether I deserved a refund. I have never experienced this sort of hospitality or service at any nail salon. I came here as a referral from a coworker. While still getting familiar with this area, I thought this place would offer great service. If you are thinking of getting nails done at here, be aware because it's not about customer service it's more about money for them. I always wondered why fee for services changed often when I got the same thing each time. Hidden fees no consideration for how they treat their customers. Deluxe pedi and gel with 2 horrible nail designs totaled - $145 and still burning from lamp. Go someplace else. UPDATE: Several hours later, Jennifer, the owner, left me a voicemail asking me to call her back. I returned the call believing she might offer an apology, discount, or some form of resolution. Instead, the conversation focused on my review and why I had posted it. She reiterated that because I chose the service, I was not entitled to any compensation. When I suggested continuing the discussion after she finished with her customer, she declined and continued explaining why she would not provide a refund, discount, or credit. This entire experience was disappointing. Mistakes and adverse reactions can happen, but what stood out to me was being told, "I'm not going to argue with you," when I was simply expressing surprise and concern about what had happened. I was not arguing at all, and the comment felt dismissive. I was left wondering whether I was being treated differently, possibly because I am an African American woman. Regardless of the reason, I did not feel heard or respected during the conversation. Reactions can happen, but how a business responds to a customer who has been injured or harmed by a service says a lot about its values. Unfortunately, I felt dismissed, blamed, and left without any Potential customers should be aware of my experience and make their own informed decision. Wow

Good pics on Yelp, poor communication and treatment/ hospitality…read more. I called to schedule an appointment to ensure they had time for me and they answered yes. I walked in, was rushed to pick a color instead of greeted. Said I could grab some water, which was nice. The mumbling in Viet started as soon as I sat down, could really make you feel out of place. (Just because someone doesn't know the language doesn't mean they don't hear the tone and can pick up on context.) Cut me twice, apologized, and a couple other hiccups that I won't bother to mention. She lightened up throughout time, but I may have to give it a second thought before going again.. I still tipped well because the actual nails came out good. (My total ~$96.00)Not to my like, as she was not easy to tell what I wanted done. Lady came in right to the end of my service with an appointment, and needed to get acetone removed from her hands that lady doing my nails had wrapped in foil and said, "excuse me- can you--" (I'm sure her hands were either hurting or were uncomfortable), and lady doing my nails interrupted her loudly in front of the whole salon, to say she's almost done with me. I felt terrible for her since she had an appointment on top of that. The fact that there's a lot of competitors for you (Nova nails) should push you to improve in timing and care with how you talk to clients and be careful about what you say you can and can not do for a service. I'm still looking for a place that is both well at communicating with clients, and has the skill set for an awesome set. Please remember to treat people kindly. How you make someone feel is really important.

It shouldn't be this hard to get, and keep my nails done…read more Most of the nail technicians in here are (artistically) talented, however it's SO HARD to make an appointment. I have shared my concerns with the owner and asked her to implement an online scheduling system. She expressed reservations due to the fact that customers may not know what they want, booking one service online and then coming in expecting another. It's a shame to have such a valuable and sought-after product, but simultaneously making it so difficult for customers to get their hands on that product. Booking an appointment has become somewhat of a guessing game. I give them a date and a time of my desired appointment. They tell me that my preferred nail tech is not available, but NEVER say UNTIL WHEN. So I throw out another date. Same thing: Not available. On and on it goes. Instead of providing me with options (namely, telling me the next available date for my preferred nail tech, or other nail techs who have availability at that same day and time), they repeat what they don't have available, or ask me to blindly pick another nail tech that I've never worked with (I don't even know their names because I've never worked with them, so how can I be expected to pick them?). So I'm expected to be both psychic and memorize the roster of the staff here... Just to get an appointment?! In order to book appointments I had to call multiple times over multiple days until someone was able to give me enough information to book an appointment, reach out to the owner on Instagram, and even drive all the way to the nail salon.... JUST TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I tried to make an appointment prior to the holidays before everything got booked up. Myself and another customer stood in line for at least 20 minutes in a practically empty nail salon while the owner's mother did someone's nails before she finally addressed us. Even then, she only handed us a register paper and told us to write down what services we wanted and when we wanted to come in, telling us that someone would call us to confirm (which never happened, by the way). We could have saved a lot of time if she had just asked us to do that and leave the paper on the counter while she finished her customer. After waiting 3 days, I finally called the salon and was told that they did not have my appointment request. Not surprising, given that it was scribbled on a piece of receipt paper that was given to me. Somebody probably threw away thinking that it was trash without following up. I tried to book my next two appointments to avoid this headache and was told that in order to book an appointment with my preferred nail tech, I now have to follow her on social media and DM her to try to book an appointment with her there. REALLY?! Instead of scraps of paper, or having to stalk somebody on Instagram, why not keep an old school appointment book, or even one online? It's really not that hard. These nail techs are also not great with time management. Many of my appointments have had to be rescheduled... For the middle of my work day. (Thank goodness for remote work) One of the (now former) nail techs completely forgot about my appointment and passed me off to somebody else without even acknowledging me or her oversight. Another nail tech pressured me into making an appointment earlier than I wanted, only for her to show up 45 minutes after the appointed time. No phone call, no update, no communication whatsoever. Just me sitting there wondering if this was another canceled appointment that they forgot to communicate to me. I say "another" because I had an appointment with the same technician that she canceled, but the salon did not leave me a message to let me know. The only way I found out is because I wanted to add something onto my existing appointment and when I called the salon, I was told that I no longer had an appointment because that person decided not to work that day. In addition to horrendous time management and the hoops you have to jump through to get an appointment, the nail retention is also poor... And ultimately that's why I chose to get my services done elsewhere. Like I said, artistically some of these nail techs do a good job, but in terms of actual quality of work... Not so much. I tried to make it work, because finding a new nail salon can be a pain. However, I started experiencing substantial lifting of my nails after practically every appointment. At one point, I even developed nail fungus under my acrylic, which one of the nail techs ignored completely and just covered with acrylic, and another who tried to tell me "That's not nail fungus, it's bacteria". Whatever it is, it's not supposed to be under my nails... And it wouldn't be if the work was done correctly. Aesthetically, this is one of the nicer looking nail salons in the area, but looks are deceiving. This salon presents a lot of challenges from a booking, customer service, and quality of work perspective.

I found her demeanor to be rather impolite, and she was frequently using her phone throughout my service. Furthermore, if you are seeking a dipping powder service, I would advise requesting a different technician, as Aaliyah seemed to strongly encourage a gel builder instead. However, I maintained my preference, as I believe a service should always prioritize the client's wishes rather than the technician's convenience or potential upselling. Despite this experience, I do plan to return to the salon. I will, however, be much more discerning when selecting my nail technician next time. I observed other technicians who appeared very attentive and engaged with their clients, rather than being preoccupied with their phones. In summary, my one-star rating is specifically for Aaliyah's service. However, I would give the salon's overall ambiance, atmosphere, and the owners four stars. Four stars because I found the music selection to be somewhat inappropriate. I would suggest considering music with more family-friendly lyrics, particularly given the presence of younger patrons. Otherwise, I will be returning for the positive aspects of the salon.

I also have become very accustomed to the woman who typically does my pedicure is being very thorough with removing ingrown, excess skin, calluses, etc. I definitely found myself wanting more from the callous removal. However, when I most appreciated was the fact that I picked a color that didn't end up looking good on the nail, and my nail tech convinced me to get something better. I'm glad she did because I was super on the fence about it. Also, it's worth noting that this place was absolutely packed on Friday afternoon.

I look forward to getting my nails done every 3-4 weeks as long as it's with Poli. The only issue I've ever had was when my nail chipped the same day I got them done, but I went back to the shopping center for something else and stopped by to see if anyone could fix it. Poli took care of it even though she was very busy ( it was a Saturday) no charge. Great customer service and Do (the gentleman usually up front) always plays my favorite songs when he's there

The pedicurist that took care of me was Thao/Jessica. She did an awesome job. I chose the deluxe pedicure ($55). It comes with a scrub, mask, and warm towels. I have visited another Nail Trix location but this location is much better and bigger. I can see myself being a regular with Jessica.

I should have known better--this is the third time I've gone there since moving to Fairwood nine years ago, and unfortunately, the experience has been consistently negative. Each time, the staff has been rude. This time was no different. First, they asked me to pay via Zelle, but I told them I preferred to use my card. Then, before the pedicure was even finished, they asked me to pay and even asked how much I was planning to tip. That felt very pushy and unprofessional. To make matters worse, when I pointed out a spot she had missed while painting, the technician handed me the nail polish and told me to fix it myself. I told her that was rude, but she clearly didn't care. Please, save your money and take it somewhere with kind, professional service. You deserve better.

I like to patronize minority business. I look for them specifically…read more I can't remember where I found out about this salon, but I'm glad that I did. Located in Capital Heights, at my first appointment, it was kind of hard to spot. Be aware of the parking, as some of the spots are assigned. Upon walking in, use the door on the right to access the nail salon. Appointments are made online, and Tenecia prefers that appointments are made at the half hour only. No problems there. Nice selection of colors to choose from, and the place is clean. I noticed that Tenecia takes the time to clean the bowl in between clients, which I totally dig. Also, she uses new new tools, like emery boards, and buffers for each person. My first appointment was a gel mani (with designs of course) and a pedi. Let me tell you, it was one of thee best pedicures that I have EVER had. She is absolutely excellent at what she does. I loved the gel manicure as well, because she actually does a manicure; you know soaks the hands, trims the cuticles, massage, and the like. She totally takes her time. My nails were shaped beautifully, and they actually grew! Woop! My only issue, is that my mani didn't last as long as I would have expected, but that could totally be me, because I'm super hard on my nails. Oh, another plus is that she totally accommodated me (in between clients) when I chipped my toe...see uber hard on my nails. No matter here though; because, my services were done well, and it is fairly priced. I will definitely be returning.

Since slots fill up fast, I went ahead and booked for the rest of the year. I needed to find somewhere that was preferably black owned since the other place I found took entirely too long. The parking is very limited and the lot is kind of tight. There's a parking lot on the other side, so I parked there and walked the short distance over. The inside of the shop isn't very big. However, it wasn't crowded, so I think it wouldn't be a problem. Also I wasn't positive as to how to book nail designs, but Tenicia explained with no problem and now I know what to do when scheduling. Even with this, she was still able to accommodate me within my appointment time. I really appreciated that. I read a few reviews about Tenicia's attitude, but I didn't have an issue. She wasn't talkative, but I wasn't really looking for that. She came off as professional and cordial and that was perfectly acceptable in my book. I really enjoyed the service and the work was awesome. The work was fast, but high quality. After 10 long years, I think I found my spot. https://www.styleseat.com/teniciaingram?utm_campaign=email_profile_User
