i went to the salon with a group of my friends and we all got a full set of acrylics. i got to the chair and showed the guy what i wanted. he started doing my nails, but he didn't use the right color, and he used chrome which i did not ask for either. (the photo i showed him didn't have chrome.) my right and my left hand look different from each other. my left hand looks bulky and uneven. my right hand is a little more shaped, but again, the nails are uneven. he also pressed his nail into my finger and made me bleed. overall, not a great experience. read more

went there 2 days ago. Tommy was my nail technician. he was very rough with me. I am 69 and have visible signs of osteoarthritis in my hands and fingers. He kept grabbing my fingers, twisting them. there was nail dust flying everywhere and I began to have an asthma attack. i tried to get my rescue inhaler from my purse. He grabbed my arm to stop me and made grunts of disapproval. I told him to stop grabbing me, that I was not a rag doll or a child. He then turned on the fan. his grabbing got worse each time I moved. I don't think he speaks English or understands me much. Finally I loudly stated, "Stop grabbing at me, it hurts. I have bone cancer! (True, but I didn't want to say that out loud). When he finished he tried to rush me to checkout. I stated, "Can you give me a minute to get my stamp card and money?" He received no tip. Lisa, the manager asked me if I was ok. I said "no" and I will never let him touch me again". I am a very nice person, but his treatment was unacceptable. i have been going there for over 3 years, but no more. I received no apology either. Walked in and signed the book. I wasn't even acknowledged. Two older ladies walked in after me and they were immediately greeted and assisted. I walked up to make sure that I had signed in and to establish my presence. Nothing. She checked out the lady in front of me and sat down. Another lady walks in, "what you need today?" Ugh. After having a really bad experience at DK I was hopeful that not all salons in Edwardsville would be this bad. This place is smaller, a lot more intimate and totally awesome. The staff are friendly and truly do a great job, they are also priced reasonably compared to other salons in Edwardsville which I've found will rip you off. I will say that I had to wait quite awhile to be seen, but I understand they are busy and I am a very patient person. I go to this place regularly, I never have a problem. Currently i am waiting inside the nail salon on a Monday Afternoon. Not busy at all. I asked for the basic pedicure, i got it and i waited for them to assist me to get my full set. I waited 2 hours for them in the massage chair. i put my shoes on and they told me where to sit. When I got my nails done I thought everything was doing good until they started shaping my real nail too much to the point they got to close which it started to bleed. Then they were sanding down nails and kept aiming at my cuticles to the point where it started bleeding. The vibe was terrible like they barely helped me out they are always short staffed. I really want my money back since I am in so much pain my cuticles hurt so bad since they got sanded down and they kept using the nail file to keep sanding to much of my real nail. The people who did my pedicure were very nice and respectful, however when i went to get a fill in, the nail tech told me I needed to get a new set but they had just completed that set 2 weeks prior. I have been going to this place for about a year now, a little over. Mani/pedi and eyebrows. It is just okay. Their selection of OPI colors looks like a lot, but the colors are all in the same tone... boring. It really depends who you get to do the nails, I really don't like the guys (there are two of them), they go pretty fast. I am shaving off a star, because the last time I was here two days ago, I cried. When the girl was cutting my cuticles, she literally took a piece of my skin off, I swear I didn't want to cry but you know that feeling where it just hurts so much tears start coming down... I was bleeding soooo much!!! She immediately put something to disinfect it and then had to use medical glue to literally glue my skin together, it was sooooo nasty! The bad part is she didn't even give me a discount and I was just too upset to ask for one. Sooo painful! I also have had my eyebrows here too and again it really depends who you get, one time I get them Ok... another time I feel like they are too short and thin, which I don't like... They took off my daughters dip nails by ripping them off and breaking them with clippers. She complained it hurt and when asked what they were doing she said they are loose no problem. Me and my friends always went to nailhaus because it's on the cheaper side in edwardsville and close to our apartment. I won't be back. The last several times I've been in have been terrible. They routinely took people that came in after me before me, and one time they started my water for a pedi and didn't start my pedicure until I had been sitting in the water for 45 minutes. I was in a hurry at that point so I just asked them to paint my toes instead of the full pedicure. Then I could tell they were upset, understandably, but I went about this politely. Then they tried to convince me to get the pedicure, saying they could have both my fingers and toes done in the next hour and a half. I had already been there for nearly an hour! They need to have more people on duty during busy times or at least tell people up front how long the wait is and not put them in water so they feel like they can't leave.
