No phone tag. That alone made me want to go. When I walked in I thought, okay, this is not what I was expecting for The Villages. It's new, it looks new, and it looks good. Clean, modern, styled, not dated. Somebody actually cared how it would look. I love that. The hair wash was exactly what I needed. They listened, were careful, and didn't make it awkward. Sometimes you go in for something small and people act like it's an inconvenience. This was the opposite. Simple, professional, done. Then I saw the back rooms. Two massage tables set up and the space is really nicely decorated. It looks like a place you could actually relax in. I was already thinking about coming back for a deep tissue. Their prices right now are very reasonable, probably because they're new to the area, and this is the time to take advantage. They offer more than just hair. I saw massage, HydraFacial, waxing, cryo fat reduction, infrared sauna and a few other treatments. I didn't even get into all of it but I like the direction. We booked two appointments at the same time. While in the waiting room, our two masseuses came out to get us. We asked if we could be in the same room. We didn't know there would be a Suprise Upcharge. Yes, we have had couples massages many times over the years. But we got charged a good deal more even though there was nothing special about this. Also, my masseuse was really just rubbing me. She said let me know if you want me to dig deeper. I said yes. After all, I went for a massage, not a rubbing. There was an another Surprise Upcharge! They never mentioned any upcharges at any time. So, we wound up spending $50 more. This is a very sneaky way to do business and we won't be going back.

This one was difficult…read more I scheduled a pedi for mom and myself Friday October 8, but had to cancel. The person on the phone was very understanding and polite and we rescheduled for the following Wednesday at the same time, 1:30 p.m. She had mentioned wanting to have a pedicure and since I'm new to the area, I wanted to give the place up the road a try. You know, support a small business, etc. When I was told that there was only one technician, I shrugged it off and was glad to give her the business. I would later regret that decision. We arrived right on time and there was another client, which normally I wouldn't care, but we had to sit in uncomfortable silence waiting. Mom is used to a salon with a lot of people working, like before COVID and I tried to explain that businesses have had to lay people off, or can't afford too many people. Still, I had a sinking feeling she would be disappointed and I was right. Since I come from a service background, I find myself continuously walking the tightrope between making excuses for bad service and excusing it. This was not bad service, just the perfect storm of our manicurist being behind schedule and my mom being extremely particular. The salon is beautiful and immaculate. "V" was extremely polite, professional and talented. But needs to manage her time better. We opted not to have polish, just a quick clean-up, then V suggested Paraffin for mom. I just kept agreeing to everything. The pedicure was ok, but there was no massage, which is half the reason I go. (I guess it's extra, but since we forwent the polish, I thought just even 5 minutes would be nice.) It was $90 with tip. Lesson learned, take mom to the spa, go to pedi alone.
