It consists of a tiny storefront, where you pop open the screen door and step into a minute space filled with a couple of waiting chairs, two manicure stations and a spa chair for pedicures in one corner. The place is owned by two sisters, only one of whom was there when I went in to get my pedicure. Everyone working there was very friendly and very casual, and you can tell that no emphasis is placed on high volume. This is a mom and pop nail salon (or sister and sister as the case may be) that seems to focus on regulars and regular experiences: nothing out of the ordinary. The pedicure I received was fine (even though it was in a spa chair that I wasn't sure was cleaned particularly well before me) and the girl who worked on my feet was expeditious and kind, friendly and well-trained. However, the massage was more of a simple application of lotion, and I didn't really get the sense that she had much interest in me -- it was more about just kind of getting the job at hand done, and less about creating any kind of atmosphere or experience. Granted, and I try to be gentle here, since it's obvious that the shop doesn't go out of its way to present a chic, upscale presence - it's very quaint, and downhome, and for some, that's exactly what you're looking for. Me? I really need some more cleanliness (or at least a more vigorous, obvious attempt at it,) and a little more of an intro and description of the services available. After she was done with the tools she used, she just stuck them in a jar of barbicide, and that's just not really cutting it for me. There was no discussion about what kind of pedicure I wanted, even though I could see there were some fun jars full of salty-type scrubs on-hand, and she didn't ask if I'd been there before or how I'd come across it: all questions I'd certainly ask if I was interested in building a relationship with a new customer in the hopes that they would return. I think "unremarkable" is really how I'd describe this place above all else. Not much to take with me other than my pedicured toes. I do have to say too that their lotion is something orangy smelling and super strong. It was sticky sweet smelling and made me kind of nauseated from the sugary smell in the car. Lyn did my pedicure today and she was great! She was very detailed and meticulous, which was what I was looking for in a nail salon. She took her time to make sure that I was comfortable and was overall very sweet. I came in on a Saturday and while it was a little empty, it felt REALLY nice to get the attention from her. Prices are really good too as they offer a variety of services apart from nails. I got a basic pedicure with gel and it was $34.
