After a recent unfortunate experience at another salon that left my natural nails damaged, I was reluctant to try again. I decided to give this spot a shot after reading the reviews, and I'm glad I did. The service was well done and never felt rushed. Most importantly, I was treated with kindness and respect. Wasn't too fond of the service offered and mainly because I pointed out a flaw in my nails and the older woman who came over to correct it became rough and began speaking in another language while making faces at my hands. That in itself was enough for me to never return here. I do not support poor customer service and while my original nail tech was cool, the person supporting her was not. I came to this place and they made me feel extremely uncomfortable and when I tried to advocate for myself and what I wanted, I was treated like trash and left with one nail sandwd and one half done. Vicky was extremely nice at the beginning and the moment I tried to ask something specific her demeanor changed and she did things halfway and not nicely. she did fast to get rid of me and didn't do them well at all. I called back when I was walking away, and I explained that I wanted my nails with one more coat because they were a little patchy. I explained that I felt very uncomfortable and that I did not want to be with her because I already felt bad that I was coming back to get the work that she did fixed. They went ahead and placed me with her anyway and then she proceeded to ask me in a very standoffish manner, "what is it that you want?!" and I explained to her that I spoke on the phone with the other lady and she said one coat and then when she started it, I thought that it was just going to be enough for one coat. I didn't know that they were thinking of starting the painting process over so when she showed me and told me to look, I saw streaks in it so I told her that it was a little streaky. She immediately stood up and pushed the stuff that she had to decide and went to the person that spoke to me on the phone and they took over and started telling me that I cannot tell them what to do on every step. I explained to her that what we spoke on the phone was one coat and I don't get my nails done so I did not know that they were going to do the painting over (The color was still on my nails). she started to aggressively paint my nails, and then when I was explaining that I did not know I started to cry and she immediately got up and told me that she's just refunding my nails. I was left with one nail sanded and one nail with one coat after sanding and nothing more. I was very happy in the beginning, and I thought that I had found my regular person. I am a Flight Attendant and was even planning to purposely book Washington DC so that I could come back to her. I never thought that my experience would have turned into a nightmare. I regret showing her a cute video of my baby, I regret being so friendly. I never want to ever come to such a place again. read more

I started to come here when my nail technician made an impromptu switch from a nearby salon. Despite the location change, my nails have been consistently done with exceptional work by nail tech Vivian. I like Nails by District location because the facility is kept clean and there is plenty of natural lighting. The bathroom is always kept tidy as well. There's plenty of pedicure chairs that have plastic linings in the bowls for sanitation. And the manicure stations are spacious with comfortable seating. Also, the nail selections are numerous..from the variety of colors and hues, to regular polish, gel polish, and gel dip, the options are endless. Parking is fine as there is limited street parking right out front..but depending on the time of day, street parking can also be found on nearby streets. overall, I highly recommend! yelp tip: save 5 % off your bill if you pay in cash, and there are special deals on nail services offered on Monday through Wednesday. read more

I'm glad to find a salon that knows how to do real dip powder nails. On both of my visits, my nails were finished within 40 minutes and my appointment started on time. The nail technician did a great job on my nails and I did not have to place my hands under the damaging UV lights. The location is a 5-minute walk from the Dupont Metro, which is very convenient. You can email or call to make an appointment; however, the option to book online would make the process even smoother. I was offered tea or filtered water during my visits; however, I would have preferred a small bottle of water to keep it covered when others were coughing in the salon. I'm looking forward to returning on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday when the salon offers a $5 discount on dip powder, pedicures, and gel manicures. read more

Had a wonderful experience getting a pedicure here! Booked a phone appointment for 6PM on a Friday and we were seated immediately and offered drinks. They had a menu with pedicure options and I went with their basic pedicure ($39). Took about 40 minutes total and came out beautifully. They do offer a cash discount and you can tip either by cash or Venmo (not by card). They have so many polish options on their wall! I just wish prices were advertised online or had a menu board posted somewhere rather than just a printed laminated card. Had been going here for a long time and as soon as I had a complain about one of my manicure gel they had something to say with an attitude and could tell they were talking about me. They tried to tell me I was there 3 weeks ago so obviously my nail had grown out and that wasn't the case, I had a receipt. I came in for Gel X nails and was seated with Mina. Mina was very dismissive when I tried asking her to shorten my nails, after I already told her I wanted them short to begin with. She was very aggressive with my hands, buffing and filing them as if she wanted me to leave the salon immediately. One cuticle was left bleeding, the almond shape I requested is inconsistent, and the polish is streaky. Overall, a very unpleasant and uncomfortable experience. If you have the choice to book with someone, stay away from Mina and book with the nail techs who are otherwise accommodating. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience has really affected me. I stopped by the salon a few weeks ago just to remove my gel polish and let my nails "breathe" for a week or two. Unfortunately, the technician drilled them down far too much. It was rough, uncomfortable, and left my nails incredibly brittle, something that has never happened to me before. Since then, my nails have been breaking constantly. A few even snapped while I was simply putting on clothes. It's been frustrating, and I haven't been able to get them done for my Florida vacation or now for a holiday party I was looking forward to. I know this isn't the end of the world, but nail techs really do need to be careful with the drill. Filing gel down too far can cause lasting damage, and several of my nails are still breaking at the sides. At this point, I'm just waiting for them to grow out. read more

This review is for Vivian, one of the best nail techs I've ever had. I moved to dc recently and was having a difficult time finding someone to trust to do a good job with my nails. Vivian isn't only the best nail tech I've found (after many months and many disappointing manicures) but she's probably the best nail tech I've been to ever. I pretty exclusively do SNS/ dip manicures because I don't have to worry about chipping or peeling. Some nail techs leave the nails very bulky but Vivian always shapes them perfectly. Whenever she does my nails, people assume they're gel because they look like my natural nail which is difficult because dip manicures sometimes look obviously bulky. Vivian recently started working here after working at another salon where I used to see her. I like the look and feel of this salon much better! It's not too crowded, there's lots of natural light, and the tvs play the food network. read more

Have been able get same day appointments but would recommend doing it in advance. They also have wine available. I followed my nail tech Vivian here (she was at DuPont Nails before.) She has been doing my nails for over 7 years!!! I've tried some places for SNS and they just didn't hit the mark. She cares about the health of your nails and is the main reason I can continue to keep them long and strong over the years (no tips.) Only person that can do the almond style shape how I like. Hands down one of best nail techs in DC. She's not a nail artist per se, so if you're looking for trendy nail designs she may not be it. But if you are particular with shape, how gel/sns is applied, ombré, French tips, line designs etc.... she's your girl! Recently she did white SNS with an unicorn chrome finish.
