Thought my review was due for an update as it's been a while AND my first review wasn't as detailed. Thanks May for always making my nails look so pretty and classy. I don't get a lot of crazy art work because of my job. But I've seen the art work you've done on others and it's truly an amazing art. I especially love how your work is always clean, and perfect. You definitely take pride in your work and it shows. You're a perfectionist. Thanks for always tryna work with me when it comes to scheduling and pricing. I recommend anyone to have their nails done my May. She is pricier for our small little Merced but she is worth it. You'll see once you pay what you're paying for-class, clean, perfection. They always last me WAY longer and look better than any other salon. She ain't NO ORDINARY nail tech. She belongs in Hollywood doing celebrity nails. She don't play. So if your looking for that cheap, rinky dink, factory line worker type nails, SHE AIN'T the one. Move along. You ain't gonna pay $40 for nails that'll chip, fall off, break and look sloppy in a week. You're gonna get what you pay for. This was my first time visiting this nail salon! It's actually a home that's been designed as a salon and it's really the cutest place. There's a lot of colors to select from and there are 4 nail technicians. I found Bianca on a classifieds page, so I made an appointment with her. My appointment was at 3pm, but she was a bit behind on schedule and didn't get to me until 4pm. It's alright though! She gave me a charger to charge my phone when she overheard me saying that my phone was about to die. I showed her exactly what I wanted and she double checked with me about the thickness of my acrylics and asking me if the shape was alright. I love that she paid very close attention to my nails and did a lovely job with the designs I wanted. The session was a bit longer than I had expected but we had a great conversation the entire time. May is the waaayyy she has been my nail tec for the past 10 years! Her work is beyond expectations, her execution is clean af it speaks volume. She has an extensive selection of acrylic colors/gel polish & Swarovski gems to choose from. I enjoy watching her do my nails because she does everything step by step. from cleaning your cuticles to filing/shaping/sculpting to topping it off with cuticle oil & lotion to nurture your skin. Some nail tecs don't even bother cleaning your cuticles or care about the sanitary state of a manicure. May takes proper protocols in assuring that her station is well sanitized prior to her next client! She truly cares about the well-being nature of your nails. Give her a theme, any theme and she will amaze you with her creativity. It can be very therapeutic if you watch how she incorporates her art into perfection. She is extremely detailed in delivering top quality and is very delicate with her performance i can not stress this enough. I receive positive compliments every single day from customers to co-workers! Theres been several times where random strangers would just walk up to praise my nails like * Omg Where'd you get these nails! Who did your nails!* It makes me feel so beautiful, boosted me in such confidence! I Love it! my nails draws so much attention! When I walk into work yeah all eyes on me! and it just keeps coming. I have referred all my friends and anyone curious about my gorgeous nails to May and will continue to do so. If you're expecting cheap wacky rose nails, may is not for you! She takes her work seriously and does not deliver crap. She's consistently booked and busy! she does go out of her way to answer questions and concerns. But it's all worth the wait and the hype. I am so blessed to have may as my permanent nail tec she is sooooo worth it! NO REGRETS. Also her shop is super duper adorable! Its dolled up in this cute Tiffany blue theme on the inside & she has a little cute shop set up on the side with her amazing handmade sugar scrubs and other goodies. My review is for process and pricing only--I have not had nail services here and cannot speak to that. The nail techs here came highly recommended by a friend, who provided me their IG handles. I first tried contacting by phone for two days. I used the number listed on IG. No luck. I then tried sending a DM to one of the girls because her tagline says "DM for appointments" or something similar directing customers to DM for appointments. No response for days. When I did get a response, all she said was "sorry for the reply." Literally. That was the entire response, picture is below. Having exhausted those methods, I used the booking link in May's profile to book an appointment. The thing is when you pick an available appointment time--May reserves the right to change the time unilaterally. For example, I booked for Monday at 1:45PM and got a text on Monday morning telling me my appointment time was changed to 11AM. I think the rationale is to not double book people or keep people from waiting when someone has a long service... but this system doesn't work for people who also have schedules. What really dissuaded me from keeping or rescheduling my appointment though is the 20 dollar "removal" fee on top of a 40 dollar simple manicure (one color no design). The justification for this fee is that May has to remove any products done by another nail tech so as to prevent a negative reaction on a customer's nails. I would MAYBE understand this rationale if I had acrylic or some kind of fill on my nails, but I have a gel manicure. Every salon has to remove an existing gel manicure fully before applying a new one... so this seems nonsensical to me. I live in Los Angeles--and have previously lived in the Bay Area and Washington DC. $20 for a simple gel removal is out there out there. I pay $33-$38 for a gel manicure, including removal, in downtown LA and West Hollywood. My techs often throw a simple design in on the house to keep patronage. No one is going to convince me that a one color, no design gel manicure should be priced at $60 regardless of the rationale for removal of existing polish. With fading hope, my search for a reasonable high quality manicure in Merced continues. read more

I made an appointment online with a lot of site issues. Site kept crashing. Made an appointment, appointment was canceled three times. Finally called and got through. I was not told in advance existing acrylic needed to be removed at a charge of $25. She whacked my nails off at an incredibly super short length. I verbally told her I wanted medium length. May is meticulous, the nails are all uniform in size, polish is smooth. Not worth the $90 I had to pay. read more

I had a terrible experience the two times I went there, the first time Nai kept on trying to convince me to get gel on my nails after I told her a few times I wanted acrylic she ended up just doing what she wanted anyway. I found one of the nail technician (Nia) on Instagram and messaged her to make an appointment. I went and for my surprise she worked in the same Salon with another technician that I use to go... I stopped going with May (my old technician) because there was an amount she wanted to charge me for another rebooking me after I had to cancel with her because I was ill. I didn't agree so I just didn't go back with her. When I arrived to the place for my appointment with Nia (new technician) and that's when I realized it was May's places. So I greeted her and proceed to let her know I had no Idea Nia worked for her. I asked for Nia and proceed to have my nails done by her, which she did an amazing job. However when I proceed to text her to rebook there was no answer and I called and it would send me to voicemail directly. Left messages and no answer. It was weird for me me. So I decided to text her from another cell phone requesting a booking (anonymously) and she immediately answered so that's when I found out HOW UNPROFESSIONAL THESE LADIES ARE!!! If May (Owner of Salon) wanted Nia to charge me for the booking they could of cleared me say that so me and explain like a PROFESSIONAL PERSON. Not just BLOCK a client that paid for her services and NEVER HAVE I EVER BEEN RUDE TO THEM! I would NOT recommend people that do this UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR.
