I have been going to Rubie to get my nails done for over 8 years now. I have followed her to her different locations, and can't imagine going to anyone else, and I won't! Rubie is busy but she will always work her schedule to fit you in. If you're new and trying to schedule an appointment, I promise, she is worth the wait. Rubie can do anything you want design wise. I'm simple with just my pink and whites, but on occasion I branch out with a little design here and there. I've had rock star toes and those are to die for! I started going to Ruby when my long-time manicurist went out of the business. Ruby was recommended by friend and she is absolutely awesome. She is literally like an artist using 10 tiny little palettes . I've asked for some crazy nails, and I swear there's nothing she cannot do. She is always pleasant, on time, and a lot of fun to be around. Personally, I kind of appreciate that there is no language barrier because that can make it difficult sometimes. Well after 15 years of going to Rubie... What can I say... My nails say it all. Countless complements, especially when we decide to get "festive" with my nails. But even when I don't and I have Rubie do a basic french, or even a solid color.. My nails and toes always shine and I would say that on average, I will have someone tell me how beautiful my nails and toes are at least once if not twice or three times every single time I have my nails done. I get shellac done at least every two weeks since I was 16 (I'm now 19). I have had shellac last usually two weeks and it starts to peel or crack and I go back and get it redone, but I'm on my third week with my shellac from her NO cracks me breaking!! I'm getting them redone because of the outgrowth not because I need too!! and that never happens for me!! She used OPI Gel which is a really awesome shellac!! she's super awesome and sweet read more

I feel bad giving this place 1 star because I didn't even have a chance to actually go there and try it out, but I bought a Groupon back in March or April for a shellac manicure and called 5 times to schedule an appointment before I just gave up. The 1st time: I left a message with 5 days the next week I had time available to come in, along with my name and phone number. The 2nd time: A week later, I hadn't heard back so I called again. Left a message with my name and number. The 3rd time: It was only a week until my graduation, which is what I wanted to get this manicure for, and I still hadn't heard, so I called again. No answer. I didn't bother leaving another message since it was early in the morning and I figured maybe she wasn't in yet or was just busy. So I... Called a 4th time: Still no answer. So I left another message with my name and number. I never heard back. My graduation was only a few days away so I went to the nail salon I usually go to which is much cheaper and does a great job (see Almond Nails in Dublin, CA). They fit me in immediately, the same day. I figured I would just use this Groupon for a wedding I had coming up. So I... Called a 5th time: Still no answer. Keep in mind that every time I called this place, I called at a different time of day to try and catch someone available to talk. Never worked. But this time there was a new answering machine message! It said something to the effect of: "Hi, if you're calling to schedule an appointment, I'm booked solid until July (it's currently May) because of the amount of Groupons people bought! Sorry!" I didn't bother leaving a message this time either. The tone of the recorded message came across to me as one of, "Oh me oh my, such a burden placed on me by all this business Groupon shoved onto my doorstep! Those bastards!" I never called back to redeem my Groupon. I'm not sure who gets the $17 bucks I paid, but I hope it's Groupon and not Nails by Rubie because simply scheduling an appointment was such a nightmare. And I would've been willing to schedule 4 months in advance if needed but I never got an opportunity to talk to anyone to do so. I tried. I really did. I tried really hard to give this place my business, but I'm sorry. If you can't return my phone call once, or I can't get a person to answer the phone once, I'm not going to chase you all over the planet for $17. I do know that I can still use the $17 in Groupon that I have and put it towards a manicure at this place, but seriously, after all this, why would I spend an extra $17 to chase around the mysterious Rubie and maybe possibly end up with an appointment in August 2013? I decided any place that doesn't care about business enough to return a phone call doesn't deserve any more of my money. read more

She does awesome work with all the traditional designs, but this is the girl you want to go to for all the fun stuff! I think my favorite was when she used Starburst wrappers on my nails instead of colored acrylic. She is not afraid to take on new ideas!
