La Vie is an absolute treat! A true oasis when I come here and consistent. I've had a few pedicures and manicures with different technicians and they all are amazing. I always feel pampered and refreshed. It is one of the pricier salons but you get what you pay for. Quality, cleanliness, a sanitary and calm environment. I also enjoy the cooking shows they have playing. You're greeted by the lovely receptionist offering you various choice of refreshment and snack. Booking is easy as well as the checkout process. The salon itself is cute and the staff are very kind, but my overall experience was disappointing because of how rushed the drying process was. They offer complimentary beverages and snacks, which is a nice touch, and the service felt pleasant during the pedicure itself. However, I was only given a few minutes to dry, with a quick spray of nail dry, and then told I was good to go. My nails were definitely not set, and one of my toes smudged just walking to my car. I've been here twice now and both times the service was exceptional. I love that they give you a menu while you wait so you can order wine and snacks. They have a ton of color options including new trends like magnetic nail polish designs. The first time I got gel nails, and when I came back to have them removed and go natural, they did it without damaging my nails at all. My nails feel super healthy now and I really appreciated that they had a lot of natural color options since I prefer not to be too flashy. When you walk into this place, its a cute nail salon and very clean as well. They have many color choices of nail polish color to choose from. I would suggest that they change the set up of the way their steps are because they are so narrow and I did see one of the sweet nail Techs fall down and I was really worried that she might've hurt herself! I do not recommend this nail bar. When I get my nails done, I expect to be able to relax and enjoy the experience. Instead, I left feeling frustrated, uncomfortable, and disappointed. The technician worked very quickly but was rough the entire time, causing pain to my nails and cuticles. My nails were left at different lengths, and the polish application was uneven, bumpy, and messy. The overall quality was far below professional standards. When I politely asked her to check the length, she immediately started taking deep breaths and appeared irritated, which made the situation even more uncomfortable. I have been getting my nails done for over 20 years, and this was by far one of the worst experiences I have had. I recently moved to Danville and was hoping to find a new regular salon, but this will not be the place. Additionally, the smell inside was extremely strong. I walked out with a headache. No attention to detail from the owner. This review is solely for the owner Anu who did my nails and no one else at this nail salon. I came in for a gel removal and a regular manicure. I asked if I could get a french but she said she did not have time (she said you have to book a french online). I said okay so I picked a color that I was debating on orginally anyways a deeper red color. Once it was applied I did accidently smudge my thumb and told them I did instantly as that was my fault, but upon closer inspection of my nails the color was uneven and much lighter in certain areas, two nails had chunks where they did not even have nail polish on them it was my bare nail, and I noticed nail polish did not even go to the very end of the either sides of my nail which was odd to me. I asked her nicely if she was going to do another layer of polish since the color was uneven still and missing in areas. Anna told me she could take them all off and redo it but I did not want to sit there any longer and I thought it was odd since she told me didn't have time earlier to do a french but yet she had time to redo all my nails... She took of the polish and redid 3 nails that had issue but even with the redo it was still uneven color and one nail had a small bump in it. I told her and she told me I have already taken off and redone this nail and that I touched it and caused these issues. She got very defensive when I was nothing but nice in my questions to her. She then went on to proceed to tell me that I was done and too picky so she was taking off all the nail polish and I could leave. I said I liked the color and just wanted it to look nice so I did not understand why she was taking them all off. The receptionist told me she could have another girl do my nails instead (4 were sitting next to me not busy) but Anna the owner said NO she is done and will not be going to another artist. I was very confused and did start tearing up as I did not understand how someone would be okay with paying $40+ for a regular manicure that was streaky and missing polish in some areas. That is not me being picky that is me wanting a good complete manicure like I would anywhere else. I was very shocked to find out she was the owner as this was very poor customer service from her and very unprofessional. This appointment took 1 hour and 20 minutes and I came out of there with bare nails because the owner could not do a regular manicure properly. If she had told me from the start this color was hard to work with and or was streaky I would have picked a different color but that was not the case. She told me she thinks I am only unhappy because I originally wanted a french, but I was really okay with the color I picked in fact. I thought it was super pretty on, it was just the application was not up to the standards of a regular manicure I have gotten anywhere else. UPDATE TO MY REVIEW: I normally do not respond to replies to my reviews, but felt the need given the accusatory nature of yours. I have never, and will never use reviews to seek a free service, nor did I intend to go to your salon expecting a free service. I booked this appointment knowing the cost, I only asked for a french, simply because I did not know I had to book for a french specifically online as it was my first time ever at this salon, and was perfectly satisfied with the normal alternative. The fact that I wasn't satisfied with the quality of your nail work, no less from the owner of the salon, and you misconstrued that as me looking down upon service workers is honestly such an insane leap in mental gymnastics. In no way, shape, or form did I insult you or your staff personally, in fact all of your staff (especially your receptionist) were amazing, it was really only you that I had issue with. I recently got a regular manicure here and the day after, the skin around my nails started peeling significantly to the point that it was painful. It was likely due to the cuticles being cut aggressively. I reached out to the manager to see if they could do anything to fix the situation and she said no, which is disappointing. On the phone, she was blaming my skin and not their practice. If that's the case, why doesn't this happen when I get manicures at the other place? I'm disappointed in the lack of customer service and trying to find solutions that help fix the situation. If you're charging $40+ for a manicure, the least you can expect is for your nails to look good a few days later, not become a peeling mess. read more

I'm surprised that this place has 4+ stars. Sure, for the decor and wine/drink/tea and snack offering, maybe. but if it's nails, then it's quite lousy. I went for a pedicure. They didn't even cut the nails evenly or shape them. the paint wasn't smooth and chipped off from the center within a week, and the dead skin was back in 3 days! i can do a better job myself and my pedicure lasts all summer! the water to soak feet in was less than lukewarm and came up hardly a quarter of an inch up my feet. not worth it, this place. you can get your own wine and madeline. I think people who have given more than 1 star have not experienced a real pedicure and are just charmed by the free wine and snack offering. read more

I recently got my nails done at La Vie Nails. I showed them a specific design and asked for an exact match. The staff was very welcoming and assured me they could do it. The nail technician who worked on my nails didn't seem very experienced in intricate designs, so it took several attempts to get it right. The whole process took about 1 hour and 45 minutes. While I wasn't completely satisfied with the final look, I truly appreciate the effort they put into making it as close as possible. Despite the challenges, I really liked the team's dedication and kindness. The sweetest touch? They gave me a lovely rose at checkout! It was such a thoughtful gesture. The business owner responded to my review - which she has a right to do - but she went ahead and used my first name in the reply (which I did not disclose). This is very disrespectful, classless, and violates my privacy. I called the shop today to request that she delete it. Additionally, in response to her note: cancellation policies are standard, but one that penalizes you for being 10 min late with a full charge and no service is NOT standard. I routinely tipped 20 to 30 percent. Please treat your technicians better - they look fairly miserable working at your sweat shop. If they were treated better, maybe they wouldn't quit on you. read more

First time there. Went with a group of girls and was so excited. Unfortunately, my experience wasn't the best- it wasn't the staff or anything. They were all really nice and professional. And the salon incredibly clean. Just the end result of how my nails turned out was disappointing. Maybe it was because (I'd later find out) the person doing my nails didn't speak English so I don't think understood what I was requesting when I first sat down at her table. She just confirmed the color I chose and said OK, when I told her what I was wanting. I thought, ok I can relax and just enjoy the experience. As she was finishing up, I noticed my nails were short red-glittered stubs, no simple snowflake or other Christmas design like I'd shown her in the picture. Just so disappointing. And my friend at the station nearby (who requested the same), got exactly what we'd both wanted. Not sure I'd go back, especially since it's quite a ways away- I'm sure there are many other places closer to where I live and that I'd get better and a more desirable end result. read more

Me and my girl came here on a Saturday morning and luckily they were able to squeeze us in for a gel pedicure. As you can see from the pictures, it's very aesthetically pleasing. I really hate leaving negative Yelp reviews but feel I need to contribute to what otherwise looks like a strong Yelp rating. Two stars for ease of making an appointment online and another for the free Fiji water. I've been to La Vie twice and had poor experiences each time for the same reasons: Inefficient and inexperienced for the price is the TLDR of my review. The nail technicians I had (two separate instances) simultaneously made me feel stressed and rushed throughout the appointment which ran over 2 hrs. The removal of my previous set, gel and chrome will run you $85 here without tip. Selection of polish is also deceivingly limited for a place of this scale: I originally made my appointment for cat eyes (+$20) but all their cat eye polishes were sparkly and overly glittery (no glass types). I asked for a recommendation after showing a picture and they had none, they just said they have what's out. I felt rushed to make a choice so I pivoted to chrome and picked a polish. Execution though the appointment was uncomfortable: While removing my previous set, my tech cut and nicked me during this process. My nails which are extremely thick and strong were aggressively sanded down to the point where one of my nails broke while she was filing. The length of my nails were also significantly botched, despite me only requesting to trim only half were much shorter than anticipated. And there are still bubbles in the application of my gel despite the slow pace in each step involved... Customer service felt forced and stiff: While my tech was respectful towards me, I felt very awkward when she roughly sanded my nail beds down, I would flinch. I am not usually shy at all, but I felt like I could barely speak up during the appointment. When she broke my nail, she said she could glue and powder, otherwise cut and it would be significantly shorter than the others. Right, but my nail probably wouldn't have broke if I wasn't managed so roughly? When I pointed out the issue with the bubble, she said she could sand it down and reapply the top coat and chrome... but at this point (2 hours in) I didn't have another 20 minutes to add to the time I spent in this place. I was just annoyed at this point and ready to go. I totally see the appeal of this place being a cute spot for a mom/daughter day but for if you ask me, it's just not worth the risk. I wanted to give this place another shot, but if you value peace of mind and coming out with a nice set in good time... you're sadly better off spending your time and money elsewhere. read more

So, I used my handy-dandy Yelp app, to help research and select. Easy-peasy website to book an appt. I didn't select anyone in particular, but you could. It assigned me Gana. Well, I stepped into the "pretty in pink" everything and everywhere, checked in, and sat down on the pink sofa. A little menu of this and that was offered to me, and I chose espresso, of course, my beverage of choice. Gana called me over, and was so wonderfully nice and sweet.
