I have to give a star. Although their customer service is excellent, the quality of actual technique of the nail technician isn't great. I had gel Mani and pedi. Within a day, my left thumb was half way peeled which they fixed, however, my left ring finger is now half way peeled off, left middle finger is also chipped. My right thumb is also peeled. I got them done last Wednesday and today is Tuesday. They didn't last a week. I'm traveling to CA tomorrow for a big event and that was the reason why I went there. Now I have to attend the event with peeled nails... I don't have time to get them fixed. I am just very disappointed with them. The first couple times I was very happy but this time, I wish I took the business elsewhere. It is ridiculous that my $125 only lasted for a few days. read more

I love Kaimuki!! I've been coming here for at least a few years. Boss babe Ann, always welcomes me with a big cheery smile " Hi Renee" . I don't know why I never wrote a review. I COVID procedures in place, temperature checks, sanitize etc., barrier shields. The salon is always clean, you'll see staff sweeping, cleaning. I'm a little OCD because it's so important, before pandemic and especially now. Prices are reasonable, and my amazing nail artist Vivian is the best!! She is very detail oriented, going back trimming cuticles to give me the perfect mani or pedi. She helped me with a nail infection (not from here) I was dealing with because I work in Healthcare wear gloves and wash my hands a gazillion times a day. It's sad to see business has slowed, but for me I need my cuticles professionally trimmed. I usual do a regular mani decided to do gels for the holidays, I love Christmas! I called and asked for a technician who I used to go to but apparently is no longer there. However, there is another woman with the same name who has been there for almost 2 months. When I got there, I mentioned that she was not the technician I used to see ... but thought I'd give her a try. My pedicure had to be redone because at the very end when she asked if everything was ok, my nails were not cut evenly and one even pointy in the middle. I asked to that that one nail fixed. She immediately removed the polish from all my toes and redid the cutting/filing. The technician said the polish was too thick so she wanted to do it over with another bottle. I really like the pale pink color I chose and asked if there was another on the shelf. She found a bottle but it was much darker and she responded it's ok, they just diluted the previous one because it's old. Uh....no. This is Barbie pink, not pale/closer to white that I initially chose. The polish application is sloppy and sad to say she tried, but it looks unprofessional. After 90+ minutes there I had to leave. Nails are all different shapes (2 coffin even though I asked for square), surfaces are lumpy and the gel polish is still sticky the next day. Tools did not appeared to be sanitized at the station I was at (station next to mine tool tools out of sealed autoclaved pouch) and licenses were not visible at the stations. I wanted to walk out, but I didn't want to cause a scene and be rude. I tried to give a different local shop some business, but I will never go there again. :-( now I'll have to pay to get them fixed at my normal shop and do the walk of shame like I cheated! read more

At the last minute, I decided to get a pedicure on a late Sunday afternoon. There weren't many options available because most nail salons close early or don't even open on Sunday. So I made a list based on positive Yelp reviews and Sunday hours. Nails La Vie was first on the list because of it good reviews, hours, and easy location with parking. Whoever answered the phone had the most pleasant friendly voice. She seemed happy to take my call and said yes appointments are available today at the time I wanted. She was so nice over the phone that I felt the experience was off to a great start right from the beginning. When I arrived, there was lots of parking right in front of the salon. Sometimes the lot is very crowded during dinner hours because Domo Sushi and Assagios are busy. But this was 3pm so parking was great! As soon as I walked in the salon, I was greeted by everyone in there. They were all friendly and welcoming. Hellen motioned for me to pick my polish color and then come to her chair. She was very nice and friendly. She showed me the options for pedicures and suggested one with massage. I was a little hesitant but decided to just go for it and indulge. SO HAPPY I DID! This was the best pedicure and foot massage I've ever had. Very professional and precise. My toes look amazing and my feet feel so relaxed. Hellen also offered to do a quick manicure and hand/arm massage after the pedicure. I instantly agreed. Now my hands look good too! Loved the experience! Called in prior to ask how much they charge to remove gel manicure and I was told $10. I go in and have my gel manicure removed and the technician asked if I want to cut my nails shorter, to which I said yes. At the cashier, my total came out to $15.75 so I ask why and they told me it's because I got my nails shortened. I've never had a nail salon charge me $5.75 extra to cut my nails short - if I knew this, I would've cut them myself! It's pretty ridiculous and petty. It's safe to say I will never return to this place. Price should be disclosed prior to any service (plus the technician did a less than mediocre job). Disappointed! read more

English is a second language for all the girls who work here. In the middle of my Pedi, The nail girl offered me a "manicure for a special price today." but when she cut my French-manicure-length nails too short (no whites of my nails were left!!!!). and cut them crooked also, I freaked out! I go for the gel polish and last time brought my own color in. I also opt for the signature pedicure which includes the wax for my feet and extra attention for the calluses. I usually spend around $80 dollar for both the mani and pedi and tips are cash only. My manicure usually lasts a solid 2-3 weeks and my pedicure can easily go over a month. Was excited to finally have a pedicure after covid, made an appointment for 1 on a Sunday. They were busy, but put me in a chair, said to get a massage, massage did not work. There was no can you please wait, no explanation for my wait time (15mins). I had other things to do so I left. As a suggestion you need to communicate with the customer if the appointed time is delayed. Only as I'm leaving do they say the owner is on the way (how much longer would that take). Will have to reschedule with a different salon or just go to one as a walk in. A big disappointment to say the least. read more
