Just a lovely atmosphere and wonderful staff. They are meticulous in the work they do, yet efficient. My sister and I came in yesterday for pedis and manis. They even took the extra step to wrap our toes up before we put on our shoes. When I got home, for some reason or another, the nail polish on both of my big toes was messed up - but my sister's was fine. I've been to the NailSaloon before and know that they have phenomenal customer service. I just came back in on my lunch break today and they fixed them without hesitation. *As a side note for those who are "clean freaks" like myself - NailSaloon is one of the most clean and sanitary nail salons I've been to. read more

Don't normally write non-food reviews, but had to take a second to give major kudos to Nailsaloon. I never get gel nails due to the harsh removals, so it's a blessing to find a place that focuses on just high quality regular manicures and pedicures. They have online booking so you can make a reservation without having to talk to anyone (highly underrated perk!), but when I called ahead on a Sunday afternoon they were able to fit me in for a last-minute time that wasn't online. The salon pedicure with housemade scrub and oil treatments is amazing, the polish options are plentiful, and the technicians here are experts at perfect paint jobs. Love that they have matte top coats as an option and include drinks when you walk in. The space itself is also beautiful and perfectly calming. All this aside, what has made me make Nailsaloon my go-to place is the amazing service. A couple hours after getting a manicure here, I nicked one of my fingernails on my credit card pretty badly and was annoyed about it. I came in the next morning and asked if they could fix it, knowing it was my fault and expecting to pay a small fee. They squeezed me in immediately and redid the nail perfectly - no charge! The prices might be higher than average, but you absolutely get what you pay for here. read more

I went for a pedicure on a Saturday morning, with appointment. The salon looks great, service at the front was excellent, no wait, clean and friendly. I booked a manicure here due to the time opening fitting my needs. I was skeptical of a no gel manicure as I tend to struggle with chipping, but liked the idea of clean manicure. I went it was a time consuming appointment 1hr plus 20 mins for drying. The manicure was fine, she did her job of shaping, cuticle care and filing. The polish I chose was a light pink. I was concerned about coverage, but was assured it would be even. It was streaky, bubbled and caked in corners. I had my hands in front of fans for 20 mins. By the time I made it to WHole Foods on P street I had chipped 3 nails. I had an appointment at 1030...I am now sitting here writing this review removing all my polish due to the chipping and streaks. There was also an issue with the salon and business license that all the employees were distracted with and seem to be more interested in that than manicure. would not go back read more

The best manicurists are Gigi and Ogie. I would have given this place 5 stars but for the fact that their front desk employees need to be nicer and friendlier and that phones should be answered during business hours. They need to hire more employees to answer the phones. Brie or Bria doesn't answer the phone and when she does, she puts customers on hold for 15 minutes then terminates the call. What kind of business practice is this? The owners must make sure phones are answered immediately and customers spoken to politely. read more

I was introduced to Nailsaloon recently by a friend and am not going anywhere else again. It is such a relaxing environment where you don't feel rushed. I am constantly surprised how long my manicures last (a least a week before they start to chip a little). Disappointed. I came for a pedicure because of the great reviews but I was underwhelmed. It is like getting a pedicure in your living room because the salon is in a converted rowhouse, so it's different but no massage chair or the usual amenities you expect. When I sat the technician told me not to put my feet in the water I guess because she thought it was too hot, but I've always come to expect to soak my feet and relax abbot before my pedicure. Then they prop your feet on they foam platforms which I found uncomfortable and had to keep adjusting. When I finally was able to put my feet in the water it was lukewarm and I had to ask her to put more hot water. But she didn't empty the water already in there so the tub overflowed a bit. Then she took my feet out and left them wet in the cold air while she cleaned her tools and came back 5 minutes later with the sort of hot towels. I expect pedicures to be a treat and relaxing. Overall my pedi was ok - not the best or worst I ever had. I chalk this up to the technician, maybe she's new but this was not relaxing. read more

The experience was great (free drinks, pretty space, no smell, nice attention) but the manicure itself was so-so. Since they are all natural they don't offer gel polish, and my manicure chipped within hours. I would probably go back for something to do with a friend or for a pedicure if I'm in the neighborhood, but will go elsewhere for my next mani. $30+ for a standard manicure is not worth it. read more

I was in town visiting and needed to have the shellac removed from my nails. I was in such good hands! Keep in mind they don't do any type of toxic nail treatment, but I prefer it that way! The nail polish I got there has stayed on. They're very hygienic; I could see them meticulously cleaning everything. The woman who worked on my nails also was very careful not to hurt me. I do not usually leave yelp review but I feel I must make an exception to this rule. I went to this nail salon base on previous reviews but saying I'm am hugely disappointed is an understatement. I'm not sure if I got the new girl who just finish school but she did an awful job... hugely disorganized, cut my nails round even thou I said square, forgot to buff my nails and to top it off, I had to remind her to clean under my nails. Worse of all, she painted my nails before putting on my sandals and as expected my toe nail was ruin after going on to put my sandals. When asked to fix, she wanted to paint over the ruined nail. I have been to many nail salons and they usually take of the entire paint on the affected nail if it is ruined. To top it off, when I reminded her she should have put my sandals on first, she had the nerve to tell me that she can't paint my toenails if I had on sandals. I looked around and saw all the other people getting their toe nails painted with sandals on. Worse of all.... I don't think I will be this mad if the price wasn't $48 dollars. For the service I received, the price is a total reap-off and a refund for very poor service is appropriate in this situation. I will rather the owners of this nail salon do away with the wine and water, which I didn't even drink and invest in people who can actually do their job well. read more

I have been getting manicures and pedicures for years in Washington, DC and have finally found THE place. Not only is all their nail polish 5 free, the colors are gorgeous! The salon itself is stunning and extremely clean. I want to sit there all day and just gab with my girlfriends over a glass of wine and guess what? I can! I came fgor the first time last October when the place was brand new and had a great experience. This time, not so much. My best friend was in town for the weekend and I thought I would surpise her with a great pedicure at nail saloon. I especially chose to come here and pay more in order to have a particularly relaxed and luxurious experience and was totally willing to pay more to get that. First, although I had called to make reservations the day before and repeated three times on the phone the date, number of people and time of the reservation on the phone, when we showed up, they didn't have us in the system. Instead of being apologetic and trying to figure things out for us, I basicallly had to take control of the situation. I suggested that we a walk around the neighborhood and that the person at the reception call me back within the next 15 minutes if somebody became free to take care of us. She did not call but we still popped by 15 minutes later in case. It turned out someone could finally take care of us. At this point, no more mention was made of the fact that they had forgot our reservations which I did not find very customer-friendly. The only remark I got was "we are trying to detemrine who made the mistake". Well that's your internal problem, not mine. What you can do is try to make it up to me. Anyway, regarding the pedicures, they were fine but nothing spectacular. I had a look of what the therapist was doing to my neighbor and clearly my therapist did not take as much time taking care of my feet. The salet scrub and "massage" with the lotion were express whereas the therapist had clearly taken a lot more time with my neighbor. I guessed this is because they had other appointments to get to. My guess turned out to be accurate when as soon as the nail polish had been applied to my feet they disappeared to take care of other ladies. They didn't take the time to place fans in order to make my nail polish dry faster (which they had done for my neighbors). When I wanted to leave, I had to get up and ask them to wrap my feet in plastic paper. Noone was paying attention to us. Then of course when we went home, the nail polish on two of my toes had gone. It's really a shame but I think that the nail saloon is a "victim" of its success in a sense. Hopefully they will get their act together because otherwise, the place is very beautiful. read more

I had a manicure with Genny. Nails looked great and she was very nice. The "saloon" is very clean, light, and has great decor. My nails stayed great for 3 days, but then I chipped one on my dominant hand (this is typical for me). My only hesitation is the price, but this will be my "splurge" place from now on! read more

The salon and everyone working there seemed nice, but their slow system kept in waiting a while to get checked-in and out. I would have liked it if someone at least offered me a drink or something. I just kept waiting and waitinh (if someone just informed me that it may take a while, it would've been helpful). Picking out a color was annoying too. There were too many people at the front desk (that's where they lay their colors on a tray and not on the walls as a display), so I felt like I was in a lunch line waiting to pick out my color. This was my first time at the salon, so I really had high hopes for this place (I even mentioned to the nail tech this was my first time). Another added note...It is difficult to find, so make sure you look for chipotle next door. There is no massage chairs, like most other nail salons and my mani/pedi massage was mediocre (too short, to be honest -- I think it took about 30 minutes for my pedi when it normally takes at least 45mins at other salons). I really wanted to like this place, but I felt rushed throughout the whole process, so I didn't feel relaxed at all. Maybe it's because I came in on a weekend, but still for the price, I wanted more....damit, I wanted to treat myself to a relaxing massage and pedi!! Is that too much to ask? read more

This place rocks. Clean beyond belief with no acrid smells of the typical salon. I was treated to a cappuccino in a beautiful glass mug. Tina gave me a perfect manicure and even chatted with me while my nails dried. All in all a pampering and beautiful environment. They had me come back for free to fix it, and that one also chipped 2 days later (even though it was a different brand of polish). I have never received kinder or more relaxed (in a good way) service at a salon of any kind in the DMV area than I did at Nailsaloon. While gel manicures obviously seem like a better long-term investment, I can appreciate a business owner going the non toxic route not succumbing to providing a service that is popular even knowing that it is not healthy for your clients. The only thing I would change is to offer a better variety of known 5-free brands at the salon (i.e Smith & Cult, Butter London). read more

Paid $80 for a mani pedi at 6:30PM at night. Overall, experience was fine. Nothing too crazy. Very clean place. However, by 2PM the next day, I had two chipped nails. I would never go back here. They offered to fix it that day, but I would rather just buy nail polish and do it myself. Too bad because it really is beautiful inside there. read more

I really really wish I could recommend this place. It looks beautiful, the music is great, the treats are nice, they have higher quality nail polish, you can make appointments by text message... but.... the service is not different, potentially worse, than the cheaper places. The technician cut the cuticle of my big toe nail causing it to bleed. She also cut one of my nail cuticles causing it to bleed a little as well. The polish application process was as messy as a cheap place where she constantly had to keep painting, cleaning, painting, cleaning leaving my fingers dried out from all of the polish remover. The saddest part though for me is that one of the technicians seemed to have a date that night and she was so excited and so sweet and it seemed she had a plan to be done early and then the owner (or manager?) came over as she thought she was with her last client and said, back to back polish change and pedicure, then you can get your nails done, and then you can go on your date. Nice to mention getting nails done (but what does that mean for a nail technician), but for me I just felt the heart breaking of thinking she was done and then getting slammed with more customers in front of customers so there was no way she could have said she had plans. I had flashbacks to the NY Times article which caused me to stop getting mani/pedis and thought, you can make the place pretty, you can make the cost fair so that everyone could potentially get paid a living wage, but still felt a little unfair to the workers. read more

Amazing experience. Would highly recommend. Great polish selection, everyone is extremely kind and my nails appear to last a long time. I actually smudged my nail after getting them done (because I didn't wait long enough to dry). I swung by the next day and they happily fixed my two nails for free and even gave free coffee while I was there. I will definitely be going back. read more
