Best nail salon I have ever been to! I was in town with my daughter for spring break. We decided to get manicures and have a little girl time. I found Nailsaloon on yelp and chose them due to their great reviews and they did not disappoint. I was able to get a same day appointment when I called. The lady who answered was pleasant and helped me schedule an appointment for the exact time I needed. When we arrived and entered we were immediately greeted by the friendly lady at the desk. She was expecting us and ask us to choose our nail color. She also explained about their 5-free nail polishes which is something I had never heard of but I absolutely loved the idea of this nail polish, especially for my 11 year old daughter. Our nail techs were friendly and efficient and my daughter and I agreed that we both thought our manure's turned out great! The entire salon was perfectly clean and you could really tell they took pride in keeping everything clean and sanitary. I felt comfortable and really enjoyed my experience. I only wish they had a nail salon like this back home. I will definitely be back when I am in DC. Thanks! read more

For the price, I cannot recommend this salon at ALL. I've been there 3 times, and only once (the first time) can I say that I ended up happy with the end result. The last time, I took my mom with me and within 2 days both of our manicures were wrecked. After going back and forth with them, they did offer for us to come back to have them redone (which was very inconvenient) and ultimately refunded the cost of the nail polish change for the two of us =$30. Considering we tipped $40 alone and ultimately spent $200 mani/pedis for the two of us I cannot recommend the place- nice ambiance at all. You have to have great technicians at that price. This place is great! I've now been three times since they opened. Each time I've had a different person do my nails and each one of them has been really good. The polish lasts for a good two weeks and they have a wide variety of colors to choose from. Customer service is great, too! read more

Loved this place. Came in on a holiday weekend and they squeezed me in even though I hadn't made an appointment. The technician was very nice and EXTREMELY thorough - I felt like it was the highest-quality pedicure I've had. The environment was spotless, drinks were a nice added touch, and I had no anxiety about the cleanliness of the instruments. I am not one to leave Yelp reviews because I do believe places have bad days, but my experience was completely terrible. I was a walk-in a few weeks ago which to my surprise was easy to get. I took a chance trying to squeeze in, but unlike other reviews I have seen, I was able to get in for a manicure. My issue wasn't complete with the service. I might have given 2.5-3 stars had it not been for the extreme rudeness I received when I arrived. I get that it can be frustrating to take walk-ins, or maybe a bad day can occur, but as someone who has worked in customer service, you have to put on a face. It wasn't busy at all, and I asked for help with choosing a polish. I then did not get a drink until the last 5 minutes of my saloon mani although I asked for one before getting seated. There was also a harsh or rude tone that the front desk person had with my technician. I believe her name was Jessie or Justine, although I could not quite hear. Due to the rude treatment if clients and staff by the front desk, I would not come here again nor would I suggest someone come. More time needs to be spent on training technicians and hiring friendly staff. My nail polish lasted 2 days. I do not get gel either. I am used to regular nail polish. read more

I finally have a go to nail place in DC (only took six years). Anyways, the nail saloon is the first place I've been genuinely excited to come back to. I was looking forward to my mani pedi appointment all day today and it did not disappoint. The girl at the front desk chatted with me about my colors (I was concerned this gold was not glittery enough for me), then had an excellent mani pedi while enjoying a nice relaxing glass of wine. Seriously, this is how every Wednesday evening should go. I left, as usual, in the most fantastic and relaxed mood and was dazzled by my beautiful gold sparkly nails. I stopped by the Nail Saloon before meeting my son for dinner and I was really impressed! The salon is full of light and absolutely spotless--an important attribute for a nail salon. I only had time for the 'speedy mani' and wasn't sure how it would compare to my regular weekly manicure at another nail salon, but when I was finished it didn't feel speedy at all--I felt fully pampered and my nails looked great! Really wanted to like this place as DC is lacking in quality, well-designed, hygenic nail salons. When I made an appointment, I explicitly stated I was going on vacation and only wanted to come if I could use my own free-3 polish color. I was told it would not be an issue. When I arrived, I was told I could only use one of their 5-free polishes. Ok, I said, but I need to buy the color in case it chips. They told me they do not sell the 5-free colors they provide. I was assured it would not chip (well it did chip within a week and knew they could not make such a guarantee though I politely said nothing). Fortunately they made an exception and let me use my color after nicely pleading because I was flying out later that day and needed the matching color with me. 2nd and third issues- i was seated and no one asked me what to drink. Watched others near me get seated and promptly asked what they wanted to drink and served. Partially through my pedicure, I caught the eye of the receptionist and asked if my type of pedicure included a drink. She took my order, but alas nada. Watched another couple seated for a pedicure long after me served promptly. I actually had to get her attention and order again! Felt like chopped liver at this point. I came during a non-peak time and over half of the pedicure chairs were empty. When she finally brought my drink, I requested I have the seat next to me free because a couple was seated on my other side and the very narrow armrests bump up against one another. Really uncomfortable how this place was designed-you are seated with your elbows practically touching your neighbor, unlike a traditional nail salon with chairs where you have about a foot of personal space on either side. I was told they were busy and they had to put someone next to me, so before I knew it, there was someone seated immediately to my right like I was on an airplane in the middle seat. When my pedicure was over, about half the pedicure seats were still empty and they could have easily spaced us apart. Overpriced and overhyped, never again. read more

My new favorite nail salon. I am not someone who goes for manicures or pedicures every week. I often think it is a waste of money. I went for a pedicure with a girlfriend and I was blown away. The space is gorgeous and the staff is not only capable, but so friendly. The price for a pedicure is steep, but unlike many other all natural places, this pedicure has already lasted over a month. I was on beaches and hikes with this pedicure and it still looks new. The all natural products are excellent. They also have extremely cool colors. It is worth paying twice the normal price for this experience and for the excellent job they do. read more

I generally avoid nail salons because of the toxic smells that assault you as you enter. I was visiting my daughters and they suggested the Nail Saloon. I was pleasantly surprised that not only was there an absence of the usual smells, but it was a large, airy space that lent itself to relaxation. The owner was very attentive and the technician did a beautiful job. She was very careful and took her time. There's a terrific choice of nail polish (without the usual toxins), and an assortment of beverages offered. You will pay more than for an ordinary nail salon service but I felt it was definitely worth it. read more

I got my nails done on Saturday and the next day, half of my polish was flaked off, by Monday afternoon, it was so bad I had to remove it. Meh. Came here for a mani-pedi based on prior reviews. Was super-excited. Honestly, for the price ($48 for a pedicure) there are plenty of better, more luxurious and pampering alternatives. And every nail salon I go to has an autoclave with one-time use for tools. So, the good news: staff was very nice and the space is new and charming. That said, the service was no different than what I've experienced elsewhere. The chairs are not especially comfortable / well-suited for manicures and the tub/basin was essentially a rickety plastic tub. Too bad-- was excited about a great, pampering nail and waxing place walking distance from home. It's not the Nail Saloon, at least not yet. read more

AMAZING! This is THE place to get your nails done in Washington DC. Everything about my experience was wonderful: the ambience, the staff, the cleanliness, and even the other customers that were there. Yuri did an incredible job and really took the time to make sure that my French manicure was flawless and picture perfect for my engagement photo shoot the next day. While I was at the Nail Saloon, I felt that the staff there genuinely cared about me as a customer - so much, that the next day I even received a message from them asking me how my engagement photo shoot had gone! I made an appointment the day before over the phone, arrived on time, and was told that they couldn't see me because two of their nail technicians didn't come in that day. (My appointment was in the system. It was timed such that is was the last slot before closing.) The only true low-toxic, "organic" nail salon in town! I wish they had a faster service option for the pedicure, which takes an hour, and I hope they will start using a mineral-based polish instead of toxic acetone. They also use a lot of plastic and water, and they don't serve organic wines. But they make their own organic sugar and salt scrubs, and the low-toxic polishes are great--I love Zoya! They never do acrylics, which is GREAT! I hate breathing the fumes. Nailsaloon is far, far above the status quo in DC--the salons here are lethal toxic. I hope they expand along the Blue/Orange/Silver line so that I can make it out more often! read more

I highly recommend nailsaloon if you are looking for a relaxing and incredibly clean nail salon. I had a manicure and pedicure with Tania, and she was wonderful. She paid attention to the details, was kind and professional and made sure everything met my expectations (checked in throughout to make sure the nail shape was correct, I liked the color, etc.). As others have mentioned, the salon is spotless. They do not reuse nail tools with other clients and even used a new set of tools for both my manicure and pedicure. During my pedicure, the nail clippers accidentally dropped and the side of the clippers (not the cutting edge) hit the floor. I was impressed that Tania quickly went and got a new set of tools before continuing the pedicure. I really appreciated the emphasis on cleanliness. It's been a week since I had my nails done, and they still look great! read more

I tried twice unsuccessfully to get a mani/pedi here. The first time they called me right before the appointment to cancel it, without seeming very contrite, which was frustrating because my husband had come home early to watch our baby for me, and embarrassing because I had invited a friend to join me at this "great new place" and her husband had come home early to watch their baby. Oops. So I wish the staff member had at least pretended to be truly apologetic for the cancellation. The second time, I showed up for my appointment, waited 25 minutes while sipping on a lukewarm soda (thought there was supposed to be some fancy drink menu?), the place was quiet and empty as a tomb, and I ended up leaving. The rather shy staff member offered to take $10 off the service, and then offered it for free when I mentioned this was the second time, which I appreciated, but since I was still going to have to wait who-knows-how-much-longer, I just had to leave. I walked into Pie Nails around the corner, and at least a friendly woman greeted me at the door and immediately offered me a chair! If Nail Saloon was hoping to distinguish itself from the dozens of other places with above-average service, then I don't think they're going to make it. The only positive thing I can say is that the space is nice and clean. But who cares if you can't get the service you've made an appointment for! read more

Beware. I booked Nailsaloon for my friend's bachelorette party on April 8th. The salon looks quite nice however that is where the pleasantness ends.The technician I had used a callous remover on my feet, and then put my feet back in the water. The callous remover was so strong that it caused my legs to break out in a rash - it felt as though the remover burned my skin! The esthetician then rinsed the water out of the bowl and put aloe on my legs - but then proceeded to use a SCRUB on my rash! Needless to say, using a scrub on the rash opened my skin and caused me to contract cellulitis in my foot. I have been on IV antibiotics for a week and it has still not resolved. The owner of the salon, Andrea, refunded my pedicure and said "how horrified" she is that this occurred, however offered no compensation or correction for what occurred. I have been off of work for a week without pay due to this lack of competence. This is customer service at it's worst. I do not advise visiting here unless you feel like contracting a dangerous bacterial infection (which the doctors confirmed was resulting from this pedicure). I will be proceeding with legal action. read more

Ok, so this place kicks ass. I'm getting married in like 3 weeks (stressing out? just a teensy bit), and I needed a good nail salon that could do the design I want so that my nails can look pretty and perfect on the big day. The other salon I went to didn't get it quite right so I wanted to try again. Read some reviews about nailsaloon on good ol' Yelp and figured I'd hit them up after work yesterday. They're like 5 blocks from my job, so I set up an appointment for 5:30pm and walked over there (every little bit helps to lose that last 5 lbs., right?). They're hiding upstairs on the second floor of their building, which is cool because it felt kind of secretive and private. Their salon is beautiful, love the exposed brick and the cool lighting fixtures above the manicure tables. Justine was super nice and gave me complimentary wine. Bonus star for the wine. Their nail art specialist Marney (sp?) was getting ready to leave for the day so I couldn't get it done right then and there, but I showed her what I wanted and she immediately said yes, so I'm excited. Got my 3-week old gel manicure taken off and a fresh "naked" manicure from Zula (she was super nice too) to strengthen my nails in preparation to come back for the real deal. All together, the damage was only $32 (plus a tip for Zula of course) so it was almost the exact same price I paid at the other salon plus I got to listen to good music AND had a nice glass of wine. Another bonus star for the wine. I will be coming back soon! :) read more

I went for a manicure. It was my first time, so I was matched to just anybody, which I think might have been why my experience here wasn't superb. I bite my nails, and so I have lots of overgrown cuticle. Even the regular (modest price) nail shops take much time and effort to get rid of them (around 15mins), and usually my nails feel "fresh" for at least 2-3 days after I get my mani. But the person who took care of me today spent about 5 minutes to take care of all my nails, and didn't remove all the cuticle well. Even right after she finished removing them, I could SEE it, which did not make my nails any more clean and tidy. I tried to get it off on my own, and she discovered that she didn't do a good job, and offered to look at it again, but yet, instead of removing it all completely, she only removed what is conspicuous and tried to hide the rest by pressing it down onto my finger so that they don't stick out and become invisible. My experience was disappointing, and I thought it was a waste of money because manicure here costs twice as more as regular nail shops. With the higher price, I expected the quality to be higher, so that I don't have to come back after 5-7 days like I do when I visit regular stores, but rather come back in 10-14 days or so. I did not complain to the manager because she would offer to get somebody else redo my manicure, and I'd be feeling uncomfortable and awkward having to sit there for another 30-60 mins after having complained. I did not say a word to the person who did my nail because I don't think she'd understand me anyways. (I initially asked her to shape my nails round, and they looked square when she shaped them. I thought she might have misunderstood, and asked her if it is round. She said it is round, period. I told her it looks square and she said "no, square is flat", and that is all she said. The reason why asked was that i felt my nails were shaped flat (meaning square)... i didn't find her to be polite or willing to help..) It seemed that other employees were much better and nicer than the one who took care of me today. I guess I could give this place another try, but even if I do, I definitely won't get my mani from this lady again. I really do feel bad for giving a low rating as I really enjoyed the beautiful decor and the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. I really wanted to love this place and become a regular. However, from the service I received from the lady who took care of my nails, which was worse than other half priced places, I really cannot give anything higher. read more
