She literally raved about nailsaloon last week and here I am 7 days later with a fresh mani and a smile on my face every time I look at my nails! As of recently I have been getting dip powder, but I could tell the overall health of my nails was declining, so I decided to take this as a sign to try nailsaloon to whip these babies into shape! I booked appointments online for myself and a co-worker for the Saloon Mani for noon on a Friday afternoon and I'm glad we did because this place fills up FAST! When we arrived, we checked-in, and were told to choose our colors; however, my coworker requested a French manicure and I copied (I've never had one!). The French mani is an extra $8. My nail tech was Hannah and she was great! I especially LOVED the scrub that was applied to my hands and forearms and massaged in! Even after washing my hands, my skin still felt moisturized! Oh, and they clean your rings here! Yes, you read correct RING CLEANING! My ring hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long and looked brand spankin' new when I got it back. The whole time my coworker and I were here we ohh'd and ahh'd and not once did I smell any harsh chemicals or hear drilling of any sort. The salon itself was lovely - I really like the long table to sit at for the manicure. That made it easy to chat with my friend. However, the nail tech was rude and unprofessional and the mani/pedi wasn't good enough to make up for it. I can get that anywhere in the city, a mani and pedi - but great customer service is apparently hard to get at this place. I was late due to difficulty finding parking and some unexpected heavy traffic for a Saturday. My nail tech provided me with absolutely ZERO grace - as if I was purposefully late - and was nasty the entire time. My time is also valuable and I apologized at the desk for my tardiness. I certainly would've preferred not to spend 10 minutes driving circles around the salon for parking. That being said, I do not believe for one second that I am the only customer to arrive late to an appointment - in fact there are reviews on this very site with customers indicating they were late but were not treated as poorly as I was. I had every intention of tipping more than my usual 20% since I was late but that thought quickly disappeared as the service went on. She was awful. I feel like I was ripped off leaving the tip I did. I explained I'd lost a toe nail and asked her not to file the nail that is growing back and to polish with clear only so as to not draw attention to it. She proceeded to ask me "how long has this been going on" and "have you been to a doctor" before she then started giving me unsolicited medical advice. She is a nail tech. Not a doctor. And my medical history IS NONE OF HER BUSINESS. I felt extremely uncomfortable with her line of questioning, facial expressions and advice about a matter she knows absolutely nothing about. I don't owe her any explanation about my health. Period. Ironically, what was her business - gel manicures - she refused to engage in any conversation about or answer my question. I asked because I was interested in the service. What's the difference between a gel manicure and the regular manicure, I asked. Standard question that should've been easily answered. Her response was "there's a lot of differences" with her face all twisted up. Between her bad energy, rude attitude and lack of customer service the manicure should've at least been good. But I guess she was so angry about whatever her problem was she couldn't be bothered with doing her job well. Waste of time and waste of money. I will not return and encourage others to try the mimosa mani/pedi in DuPont Circle. Their nail techs are nice. read more

Nails turned out great. I got the speedy mani with gel. I appreciated that they put sunscreen on your hands and would love to see more nail salons do this as well. As a first-time customer, the only confusing part was "checking out" with the person at the front to confirm to charge your card connected to your appt - I did that, but then received a call an hour later that I hadn't and they asked me about a tip but I had given that to them in cash. I've been here a few times now and I do think they do a good job with nails. However, I go for nails as a way to treat myself and I always feel like I'm being rushed or not treated with care. The environment of this place feels very 'corporate' with long rows of nail and pedi booths. The focus is on efficiency and speed; they don't even encourage nail art because it takes so long. The pedi stations don't have any massage chairs. Don't get me wrong, they are almost always busy (almost no chance to walk in, so you must book online) but I wouldn't say it's a fun experience. The person at the front desk is not friendly at all. She was closely watching over and charged me extra for a gel removal because it took a bit longer without notifying me and kept micromanaging my appointment. It was weird. This was my first time here and I absolutely loved it! My nail tech Emily took such good care of me. I'm currently in an arm sling with a separated shoulder and she was so accommodating to me and checked in to make sure I wasn't in any pain the entire process. I'm also a cosmetologist myself and this place passed all the sanitation things I look for in a salon! I had an appointment today for a pedicure. I added a mani gel removal and gel mani while onsite and it was no issue. Ivonne did all the work and did an awesome job. I almost never get pedicures and she took such care with filing and cleaning the cuticles. The gel mani was also one of the best that I've received -- I hate when the gel is lumpy or when the tech misses the sides of nails. I have been to nailsaloon twice and will certainly be making it a regular experience. The atmosphere is more spa-like than other nail salons with modern finishes and light interior. The manicure itself is literally perfect, the nail technicians pay fine attention to detail across shaping, cleaning and polish and do a great job on the massage. I've been here twice. On my second visit, I was running late (unexpectedly hit construction traffic) and I was texted by the salon and I informed them I was still coming but running late. After getting out of traffic and arriving by the salon I informed them I was looking for parking via text. By the time I got in the salon I was 30 minutes late to my scheduled time. I expected my appointment would either need to be rescheduled or I would have to wait, which I wouldn't have objected to. But when I arrived, the front desk individual told me I may or may not be serviced at all and said regarding the tech I had scheduled with that "his clients are always on time." The person at the front desk came back and told me I wouldn't be serviced and I would be charged the no show amount. I was frustrated because I had been in communication via text to update them on my whereabouts and it would have been helpful if they told me to just not bother coming instead of me remaining in traffic. Another person who works there came up and said I could have a regular gel appointment with any of the techs (my original appointment was for builder gel, which only one person there handles). I was fine with that, especially because I don't get my nails done often and I just wanted something done to them for my birthday. The overall experience was a bit uncomfortable after that. The manicure was very quick, the tech didn't clean under my nails. I specifically came to this location because I enjoyed my first experience there. I still provided the standard tip for my service (because even with poor service, we live in a tip economy so I think it's always important to do so) but after today, I'll look elsewhere. Things happen beyond a person's control that affect someone being on time. And I didn't appreciate how I was spoken to. read more

It's a clean, peaceful, upscale nail salon that smells good, not like chemicals used at other salons. Love that it's a natural place. If pregnant women and kids can go in without breathing fumes, I'm there. They added Dazzle Dry polished that dry in 5 minutes. They last like a gel mani/pedi would. The technicians are meticulous and they don't talk to each other and on their phones. It's a nice place. Ahhhhh nail salooon...where have you been all my life?!?!? I was initially wowed by the level of professionalism I experienced during my call for a same day appointment. I was immediately accommodated. The employee (maybe manager) I spoke with on the phone was so warm and friendly. She took my information and advised that I could come in at 12:30. I entered the lux salon in the upstairs of the building (mind you they are completing sidewalk construction in front of the building). The salon was such a refreshing contrast to the street noise and construction dust outside. The first thing I noticed was how bright and airy the salon was. No standard nail salon massage chairs, fumes, or manicure tables. You are treated to plush seating and a central marble nail station in this fume free zone! I absolutely loved the purse hanger! It's a haste having a bag in most salons...So clutch! My nail tech, Jessica, was phenomenal! I went to have my gel removed and she did it gently and effectively! My manicure and the atmosphere were so relaxing, I was nodding off during my service. I kid you not, my head was bobbing! The fact that the polish is non-toxic, the complementary beverage (cocktail or cranberry anyone?) annnnnnnd the complementary ring cleaning were the icing on my already too decadent cake. I'm late writing this review, but I wanted to wait two weeks to see how their brand polish would hold up as well as my manicure! In terms of longevity, nail saloon scores a 10/10. I'm hard on my nails and there was only slight wear on the tips before I removed the polish. Great non-toxic option in DC for beautiful nails! They do NOT do acrylics/nail extension here given their non-toxic commitment, so not the place if you want to add on nails! However, the saloon salon is clean, professional, and has amazing artists. It's a very comfortable space to be in - especially without all that chemical smell! Probably one of the better pedicures I've ever had. I'm not sure if it was the company or the fact they gave us more than enough specialty cocktails,but I had a great time and now I have pretty sparkly blue toes and soft feet. First of all, the place is gorgeous and spacious and ever so clean. It doesn't smell like a nail salon, at all. I heard they have great ventilation system like a Vegas casino where the bad air and fumes are pumped out. It is seriously library quiet in here, with the exception of us and them playing Van Halen quietly on a loop there was no noise here. Although we had appointments, it took them about ten minutes to prep. We picked out the colors, while they opened up new kits and lined the bowls with disposable plastic (nice sanitary touch). They do have wide array of colors but they stick to 5 Free polishes, which means only brands of polishes made without the 3 common chemicals found in nail polishes (Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde), but also without 2 other very dangerous chemicals (Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor). So no OPI or Essie here, but rather they only had Zoya, RGB and Priti NYC. I went with Zoya over RGB (which after two drinks I was calling RG III) because they seemed to have more bright colors with glitter. This is one gripe, with the exception of RGB these are all lower end 5 free polishes (I get Zoya all the time for free in the mail), so it would be nice to see some diversity and higher end 5 free polish premium brands like Deborah Lippman, Scotch Naturals and LVX to justify the price of the pedicure. If you're expecting massage chairs, this is the wrong place for it. Being that Victoria called out my shorty status in her review, massage chairs can sometimes be too big for me, and once the pounding motion actually ejected me out of the seat, so I was glad to see they had smallish boxy chairs. Yet, my feet still couldn't reach the bowls so yeah, I needed two pillows behind me. That's how it's got to be when you are five feet tall. You have plenty of space to put your polishes and purses down at the table next to you, which is stacked high with magazines and has a cubby hole for your shoes.They offered us beverages which were either: water, tea, red or white wine, their signature cocktail (sparkling wine, vodka, cranberry and pineapple juice), coffee, lattes or cappuccinos. We opted for the signature cocktail. After two of those, I was thinking National Geographic was the funniest magazine I ever read. The technicians were great, apparently they thought we were hilarious. They were highly technical, and gave a great massage. They used supplies like files, once, and promptly disposed of them. I like that they managed to scrub my feet clean without triggering my knee jerk ticklish reaction.Or that might have been the alcohol. Whatever, the whole process was great. The pedicure did last for 45 minutes and we sat for a few extra minutes (or maybe an hour) waiting for our polish to dry. They even applied oil and wrapped our toes in saran wrap so our pedis would not smudge in our socks and shoes. Brilliant. Given the customer service, ease of booking appointments on the yelp app (I hate actually speaking to people),the great drinks and the precise pedicure, I would return here again despite the high price. You are paying more so for the ambiance, cleanliness and experience of a spa day here rather than for nail art or fancy nails. Great spot to receive a relaxing pedicure! One of the most relaxing pedicures I've ever received (a bit more expensive than the pedis I usually receive). Wish we had a NailSaloon in SF! FYI - t don't offer gel pedis. I've been struggling as I debated whether or not to write this review. I really wanted to love this place...and I did...but my gel nails were chipping within a week. Not a good thing when you are spending over $100 for a mani/pedi plus tip. Let me say...this isn't my first rodeo with gel nail polish. I'm used to my gel manicure lasting at least two and a half weeks without a chip. So why was I struggling to rewrite this review? For starters, the place has a positive vibe. The people including the lady who did my mani/pedi are all respectful and the place is immaculately clean. You are offered a variety of hot and cold beverages to enjoy during your service. To be honest though, I'd rather spend this kind of money at a place that is incredibly clean, the decor is pleasant, no beverages offered, and my mani/pedi lasts. I had been wanting to come to this place for about a year now. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. The place is very clean which is a good thing however, they are over priced and do not offer anything more than a normal salon would. They actually offer less. The appeal to this place was the saloon style bar, however, with COVID, they have stopped those services. They do however still charge the same amount. Making an appointment was an easy process and I was greeted and shown to my salon expert right away. I did a mani+pedi shiney buff (no polish) with Altin. His shiney buff service was hands-down the best shiney buff I have ever gotten. After more than seven days my mani+pedi still has the wet-shiny look. This is unusually long. Way to go!! Super pricey--$80 mani/pedi. For this price, I expect a lot... definitely more than a cluttered salon that plays music for us on a sonos bluetooth speaker. Every surface in the salon was crammed with something. Idea: bare manicure bar unless a client is receiving service. The length-wise cabinet with the sanitizing station could also be bare. It would look much better. read more

Online booking makes last-minute treat yo'self decisions easy. (Small-value gift cards also make for great stocking stuffers.) Time estimates in the system obviously don't include polish drying time. I sipped on my green tea throughout, and my technician understood I wasn't the chatty type. I opted to skip the nail trim, and the corners of my nails ended up getting rounded off with a file. Sugar scrub, hot towel, and massage were so relaxing, and now my hands are extra soft. Borders and opacity are a little inconsistent in places, but I'll still come back and try a pedicure sometime. read more

They were doing free manicures last Friday (June 1) as part of a promotion for a new AMC show, so how could I not get one?! And it was brilliant because they had the trailer for a new show playing on loop so for the 30 minutes I was there I saw it about 15 times and am definitely going to watch Dietland. I have never had bad service or had a problem getting an appointment even last minute. I love their non-toxic philosophy and even though the polish is not shellac I find that they do such a good job that it lasts just as long. It's a manicure that you can feel good about not just because it's relaxing and comfortable environment but also because it's not harmful!
