I had great experiences at this salon prior, but will never return after today's experience. I was running a bit late for my appointment - of course totally my fault, not the salon's. however, I called 4 times, emailed, and texted to see if we could push our appointment back 20 minutes, with no answer/ response. when we arrived they informed me they had charged us for the service because "they tried to reach me" (a text to which I responded that I was 5 minutes away!) but that they could accommodate us at that time if we were willing to pay again/ double. again, being late is my fault but not answering any medium of communication with no grace was disappointing. read more

$70 for a mediocore manicure and pedicure. Both big toenails chipped after one day and multiple fingernails chipped within a couple days. You'd expect better quality, especially with a pedicure (I have gone 4 weeks without a chip). Salon is nice but staff seems robotic. My tech did not follow the process as the others for the pedicure. When she did decide to buff my feet her process was cutting into bottom of my feet and I said ouch a few times and she kept going. Finally I said please stop in that spot and then she just stopped all together leaving one foot rough still. I did email the staff and ask for a refund because $70 for horrible product is a let down AND I am traveling for work and could not get in. No response after 4 days. read more

I've been here a couple of times and have been happy with the services each time and the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality products they use. The ambiance is relaxing and I love getting an almond milk latte with my mani/pedi. Today, though, I have to give a special shoutout to Emily! She did a perfect gel mani/pedi with great attention to detail. But, the best part is that she worked her magic on my purple hair dye stained hands and managed to get nearly all of it off after I'd been trying for days! I went in today for a speedy mani and left with polish all over my fingers/skin. Not only was the polish sloppy, but my cuticles and hangnails were worse than when I came in. I booked a speedy mani knowing that in the past there is minimal cuticle care, which is what I prefer. To say I left dissatisfied is an understatement. As the trend for men getting pedicures becomes increasingly popular, I deiced to book an appointment to see what all the hype is about. Nailsaloon occupies an above-ground space in the center of 14th Street. It's above Zengo Cycle, so you could arguably get a mani-pedi and then ruin it all with a good sweat on a bike. Or flip it and come sweaty to your appointment. Or stick to keeping them separate. Your choice, though. I arrived on a busy Saturday around 1:00 pm. The front desk texted me to let me know that they were running a bit behind. Like all the trendy salon places, Nailsaloon offers your choice of wine, tea or juice while you wait and while you receive your choice of service. I got a hot tea, which was pleasant. This was my first pedicure in my 25 years living on this earth, and my pedicurist took my gross feet with pride. Seriously though, they did an amazing job, and I would absolutely come back. The pedicure-only is a bit higher in price compared to other places in D.C., but between the efficient service, choice of drink (including alcohol), elegant and comfortable chairs and surroundings, nontoxic products and attentive staff, the extra money is worth it. You also receive a salt scrub with your pedicure, which is a great addition. The whole experience took around 40 minutes and didn't feel rushed but also not drawn-out. The receptionist was AMAZING. She was a sweetheart and had been coordinating on the phone with my boyfriend from start to finish. She was SO helpful. I had called Nailsaloon sort of last minute to see if I can schedule three manis and I was able to do so (which made my birthday weekend)! My friends and I got there, marveled at their selection of polishes, and were seated right away. Unfortunately, something had flooded, so we weren't able to get a regular mani. We ended up getting a speedy mani instead, BUT it was nice, because they provided us with free manis for the inconvenience. They offered my friends and I a glass of wine which was very nice of them. The place was not only filled with friendly employees, but was spacious, well lit, and seemed very well ventilated. I could barely smell that "nail polish salon" smell. Each time I was a walk in and I was seen in literally minutes. I always choose one of the Nail Saloon brand nail polishes. I've worn the for a month with no chips, so it's the real deal. I love Nailsaloon! I've been going for 2.5 years and it is one of my happy places. Everyone from the staff to the managers to the owners are so kind and attentive. As a trans woman who started going long before coming out, they have always been incredibly sweet and supportive and made me feel so safe and comfortable. As for the actual nails, they are amazing! I strongly recommend picking their O by Nailsaloon brand polishes, they are so pretty and last so much longer than other polishes! My friends and coworkers constantly ask me how I get my nails to stay in such good shape or ask if they're gels, but it's just their amazing polish and their fantastic work. The nail techs are all skilled and careful, the location is super clean and beautiful, and I always leave feeling pampered. read more

Plenty of polish options. Very reasonable prices. I saw Jessica who is an actual miracle worker! Nailed it! I visited with a friend who told me about this place, and was excited because it looked cool. It has a really awesome vibe to it and the receptionist and my nail lady were super sweet and friendly! Unfortunately, we weren't offered any drinks! I really like the color I selected (their own nail brand has colors that are named after the ladies who work at the salon - so cute). I typically get gel and that's not offered here. This weekend was my second visit to the Nail Saloon and I have no complaints. My friend and I booked noon appointments on a Sunday, a usual nightmare day for an appointment. Our appointment started promptly and we were seated together which was appreciated. The chairs aren't the normal massage chairs, they're comfortable couches which allow for you to truly relax. My technician was attentive to the shape of my nail, my utter discomfort to any touching of the bottom of my feet and most importantly gave the best leg and foot massage. Nail Saloon is proudly non-toxic which is nice but you do pay for the service, the products and the atmosphere. Being a $48 pedicure is steep, but I definitely think it's worth it. I tried calling the salon 4 times prior to showing up to see if they accepted walk ins or had availability for the day since I was in the area and no one answered (keep in mind there phone was ringing so It wasn't like the number was out of service). So I decided to stop by to see since they never answered the phone; when I arrived the front desk rep didn't even look me in the eye when I asked if there phones weren't working or something because I attempted to call the salon to check the availability, she said "we're fully booked" in a rude tone and proceeded to be on her computer. Sigh. I really want to love this place, and I HAVE had one great manicure here. The front desk folks are also very nice, and I love the mission and vibe. Unfortunately, however, the majority of my manis from Nail Saloon have chipped within days. This time, I went back to get them fixed, but the tech was INCREDIBLY rude -- downright haughty. She put down one coat of uneven polish and shoved a fan in my face, and when I pointed out that the nail looked comical compared to the others (which had two coats of even polish), she rolled her eyes. After getting the chipped nail fixed, my other nails started chipping the next day. These are my nails after 5 days, even after getting the chip fixed. Sad, right? This is currently one of my top favorite nail salons in the district. I've had 3 manicures here and have been very satisfied every time. Summary of my experiences: - Facilities: You'll walk into a mellow but brightly lit space with high ceilings. Immediately you notice the difference from other salons, which is the lack of chemical smell in the air nor will your eyes ever get dry from all the dust in the air, this is due to their commitment to ensuring a healthy and clean environment not just for employees but customers as well and it shows in the clean air you're breathing! -Staff/services: they have always been friendly, responsive, and courteous when I've gone. I've had different manicurist each time and they all did a great job. -Amenities: I think it's a nice touch that they offer water, coffee, or mimosas as well. -Overall: probably the only downside is that they are often very busy during peak hours like weekends/evenings but I've never had to wait too long when I've arrived without an appointment and have been very happy every time I leave. read more

I, apparently, am the only one however, as the place was packed! I'm not even sure they take walk ins! Be warned in advance that the shop does not do gels! I wasn't prepared for that when I went in. Service was good and I was offered a choice between wine, champagne, and a delicious cocktail. Also, with every manicure, you can have your ring cleaned. Eyebrow waxing was mediocre to fair. I would go back, but I'm just too rough on my nails to get regular polish. My nails were chipped after about four days. No fault of the shop, of course. Let me count the ways: + Easy Booking - If you are antisocial like me, you avoid making appointments just because you don't want to talk to someone on the phone. Here you can make an appointment through the Yelp website, on their own regular website, and once you are in their system...by text message. It doesn't get any more simpler than that. + Cleanliness - As someone with a compromised immune system, salon cleanliness is one of my biggest concerns. That was not the case here - - no double dipping, lined pedicure tubs, sterilized stencils, waxing room was immaculate, and towels spotless. There is also a ventilation system so there was no weird chemical smell in the air. + All Natural Products - They create their own salt and sugar scrubs with essential oils and use non-toxic nail polish brands. + Reading Material - For those looking to catch up with celebrity gossip (apparently I was way out of the loop because I had no idea that Bruce Jenner was transitioning into a woman, Kris Jenner was dating a 35 year old man, and that Katy Perry and Taylor Swift hate each other) this is the place to do it! They had a stack of magazines next to every pedi station so you were never without reading material. + Ambiance - It's a gorgeous, open air space which is perfect for catching up with a friend. They have an exposed brick wall and Edison bulb chandelier which made me feel like I was getting a spa treatment in a hip loft space. + The Extras: Coffee, Tea, Wine or Cocktail offered immediately upon entering. Local jewelry and handbag designers featured at check out. They will also clean your rings in their steam machine while you're getting your nails done. They even wrapped my toes in saran wrap and oil so it wouldn't smudge...and put on my shoes for me. If that's not service, I don't know what is! + Friendly Technicians - My nail tech Alicia was such a sweetheart and knew how to ask all the right questions to make sure that I was happy with my final results. She also waxed my brows with little pain and no red ugly bumpies afterwards. I felt like she paid attention to my hair growth patterns instead of randomly ripping out hairs without paying attention like at other places. Also she made my feet feel like new again! No easy task since I just spent two weeks hiking through the jungles of Thailand in a pair of flip flops. My feet feel very clean and hydrated! + No Chip Policy - So very necessary...and much appreciated nailsaloon is a bit more expensive than your neighborhood salon but I think the amenities were worth it. Everyone is so friendly and I just love Justine who is usually at the front and always remembers me. It's like the Cheers! of nail salons. The space is done so well - everything is super warm & inviting. It's very clean. They use a new nail file and other tools for each customer. Love the brands they use and that they're all cruelty free. A little more expensive than other places but totally worth it! Plus Marnae is just the best. She's doing nail art like nobody else in DC. I'm so excited not to have to wait until I'm in LA or NY to get fun trendy nails. If you've ever been scared at the thought of shared utensils, unsanitary foot baths or anything else the germaphobe in me would cringe at, your search is over! I love they that use a disposable bag over their foot tubs, all utensils/tools are cleaned/scrubbed and soaked in barbicide(sp?) in plain view, and all nail files/buffers are stored in individually sealed bags, so you know, it was never used on anyone else (they even sometimes ask if you'd like to keep your set, for use at home). Cocktails and nails is their motto and every service gets a complimentary beverage of your choice-water, coffee, tea, wine, cocktail, you name it! This place is the ultimate relaxation sanctuary when a flight to a beach on an island is not possible lol. Perfect place for meeting up and catching up with friends over a mani or pedi and drink :) I know this review is kind of all over the place but I just had to get something out there b/c its been about two months for me, and I like my pedis every 2 weeks, mani every week so I've been there weekly...probably could count on both hands, over these last two months and nothing has changed. This the caliber of nail salon I've been looking for in D.C. You will pay extra but I guarantee you will not be disappointed. The front desk staff and technicians are friendly, complementary hot and cold beverages and ring cleanings are offered, and most importantly the technicians take their time. No rushing and shuttling you around the salon to make room for other clients. During your appointment, YOU will be the only client they are working on and as long as you have an appointment, you will be their only priority! This was an especially memorable occasion for me as I was celebrating my sisters 30th birthday. Little did I know, the next day my boyfriend would be down on one knee with an engagement ring! I last got my nails done in May 2018 for my wedding. Unfortunately, my nails were demolished and I swore off gel, acrylic and all forms of toxic nail care. I was so excited to find a non-toxic nail salon that's situated on my commute to work so I decided to visit last Friday as I was meeting hubby that evening to celebrate our first wedding anniversary! The prices are steep and a girl is ballin on a budget, so I opted for the speedy mani...I didn't need the frills. Anyway, the service was prompt especially for a walk-in on a Friday afternoon. I loved the complimentary drink service and how their non-toxic brand extends to the drink selection as well. The only reason I'm providing 3-stars is due to my nails beginning to wear on day 3! Luckily I don't have any ridiculous chipping, but the tips of my nails no longer have polish on them. I've used Zoya polishes for a couple of years now and know that the polish can last for around 7 days using their color lock system. For the prices, I definitely expected the polish to last longer. I'm not sure that I'd visit again if I know I can do a better job at home. read more

I already have a regular nail salon so I felt slightly guilty about using Nailsaloon for my pedicure this month. However, I've been very curious about the place ever since the sign on front of the building went up. The appointment process was seamless. My regular nail place offers champagne, mimosa, hot tea, and bottled water; Nailsaloon offers all of the above plus coffee and espresso drinks. As soon as I arrived and checked in with the receptionist. She took my coat and gave me a number tag or the hanger. The number tag was a first for me at a nail salon, but I soon found out why. After the receptionist took my drink order and I picked out my nail color, she asked me to take a seat at the front because they weren't ready for me yet. As soon as I sat down, two girls walked in. When one of them gave her name to the receptionist, someone who I presumed was the owner or manager rushed over to greet them. Based on what I gathered from the conversation and her profuse apologies, Nailsaloon had lost either this girl's coat or her mom's coat (or both?) on her last visit. Apparently, Nailsaloon had called all of the clients who had come in that day but no one fessed up to taking the coat(s) so it/they were never found. Thus, they started using the number tags. After the introductions and apologies, the owner/manager took the girls to get seated for their pedicures. At this point, I had waited for almost 10 minutes. I thought it was pretty rude that the two girls were served before since I also had an appointment and showed up before them and on time. Regardless of whatever mishap they were trying to fix or gloss over, I was annoyed. I'm a paying customer, too! The pedicure itself was very relaxing. Marnier did a great job. It's been over a week with some time spent in a pool and on the beach, and I'm happy to report that the pedicure is still in very good shape. So to wrap up, the pedicure cost $48 before tip. The perks were: a lukewarm latte, chemical-free nail polish, very sanitary stations, unused tools (I was watching one of the girls put the individual kits together from bulk packages), and an offer to clean my diamond ring (which I accepted). Yes, I used to get $50 pedicures all the time, but those included 10-minute foot massages and a shoulder massage in the end. I know Nailsaloon is trying to stand out from competitors by offering chemical-free nail treatments, but I don't think it's worth the premium price. read more
