I had a bit of a hard time finding the place. So when you go, you need to turn in where it says Somis Ranch Apartments. It looks like Camarillo City Hall is right there also. The berry stand is "behind" Crossroads Shopping Center on the corner of Somis and Las Posas. The stand is set back behind the strawberry field, so it is not right on Somis Rd. Hope that helps! The strawberry rows were flanked by lovely sunflower and flower rows. The whole farm is a lovely refreshing sight from the city scene, with the big open blue sky and hills in the distance, and cute farm aesthetics everywhere, like the rusty old pickup truck that resembles Tow Mater (from Pixar's Cars movie) behind the bright purple flowers in front, and wooden wagons and the wood painted structures of the store and bathrooms. It's nicely fenced in off the main highway but there's a small road between the highway and farm so it's quiet and you can't even tell that the highway is there. There were SO many gorgeously red strawberries everywhere! We picked nearly two boxes full, they provide large cardboard boxes with the little green plastic cartons inside. So enjoyable to spend time picking in such clean, well kept rows of fruit. The store where you pay for the fruit and entrance fees also sells a variety of vegetables and preserves and various other rustic things. The woman tending the store was sweet and gave us so many tips on keeping and washing and preparing the strawberries. We couldn't stop eating them ever since we got home. I just made strawberry tarts with them and they are so sweet and delicious. So excited to come back in future years! Two boxes is not enough of glorious springtime-summery sweetness!

I recently came across these berries being sold in Brooklyn, where I live now & to my delight, they were as juicy and tasty as I remember them being. The soil and climate, perfect amount of sunshine makes for the ultimate strawberry. I have gotten them from other places in California, like Watsonville, but there's no comparison to the size and sweet deliciousness of Ventura County berries. I've become sad that a lot of the strawberries I've bought at markets have been so bland and tasteless compared to my memories of them as a kid. Even the organic ones. Maybe the soil today has become so leeched of nutrients and sprayed with so much insecticides that it has killed our produce. I don't know what Saticoy has been doing but I hope they keep it up, as I'll always be a fan as long as their strawberries are this sweet and taste like what strawberries should always taste like! A simple "Hi, I'll be right with you" would have taken two seconds. Instead, she completely ignored us and made us feel unwelcome from the moment we arrived. I finally asked if there was a problem because I didn't appreciate the attitude we were receiving. She immediately changed her tone and said she was "very focused and busy." That's not an excuse for treating paying customers with disrespect, especially when there wasn't anyone else waiting. First impressions matter, and this one ruined the entire experience. We made the drive hoping to create a fun memory with our son, but instead left disappointed because of how we were treated. We won't be returning, and I can't recommend this place based on our experience. If you work with the public, basic courtesy and acknowledging your customers should be the bare minimum.

It is exactly as it sounds. I am not sure it even has a real name but it is a permanent fruit stand outside of Oxnard and known to every cycling organization in this area of Los Angeles. The man who is a permanent fixture behind the counter always has a smile and some samples of fresh, red ripe strawberries for any cyclists who come down the road and stop at his little stand to buy a few drinks and some fruit to refuel. He welcomes us to take advantage of a bit of shade and some chairs for rest before making the trek back to wherever their journey began. I can't say I even know his name, but he is extremely kind and offers cold beverages and fruit at rock bottom prices. There is a restroom inside the building next to the stand. There is usually a guy sitting on the front porch there and an old dog who sleeps on the sofa inside. That dog never budges with the many people who come in and out.
