There is a small year round store filled with flats of fresh strawberries, oranges, avocados, and veggies too. Inside shelves are lined with every kind of nut, pumpkin seeds,and jerky. Wow this place is huge!! From the street side I would have never guessed what laid behind. We had the opportunity to visit with a daughter's kindergarten class field trip. They had hay rides, barrel rides, corn maze, petting zoo and a large space for picnic lunches. It looks like on the weekend they have bbq sandwiches and a cantina on site as well. For those visiting separate from a field trip there is an entry fee and every activity requires tickets which would be an added fee so plan accordingly. read more

It's right outside of Santa Paula, you'll see a yellow flag off the side. They have a small section of fruits and veggies but a good variety to choose from. Prices are a little high but you're getting straight from the farm. They are also the only fruit stand that I know of that has yellow watermelon. I got a few different fruits and yes I did grab that yellow watermelon, they had a sample of it and it's a little less sweeter then the red ones. The ladies working were super nice and friendly. They also have a petting zoo out back with rescue animals and a variety of other activities for the kids. read more

We came for the strawberry picking experience and it was ok for the price. Most of the strawberries that were ripe had already been picked for sale at the stand. Admission is $7 but includes entrance to the pen with goats and sheep (that's their petting zoo). To pick the strawberries, it's an extra $10 for a 1 lb clam shell. So for a family of 4, it's $38 for the whole experience. A bit pricey in my opinion. They were not upfront about this cost on their website and when I messaged on their instagram, they were unresponsive. Underwood Somis farm is a better deal at $5 per person and $3.50/lb. But at least we supported a local farm. read more

It was late May and we were driving home from the Silver Strand dog beach in Oxnard, I was determined to bring some strawberries home. I saw the sign for $19.99 flat of strawberries and stopped and got some. The girl at the register was very sweet and gave my dog some treats. The strawberries were amazing! So sweet and giant and a big hit with my nephews back home who couldn't get enough of them. Will definitelyl stop by here again for strawberries. read more

I stopped by here on my way to Santa Paula and wanted to see what they had to offer. Currently there are tons of pumpkins for sale, and some fruits and veggies. In the store are some dried fruit and Knick knacks. The property is pretty big... they have a petting zoo (fee to enter), as well as horseback riding. I was told I could walk the grounds for free, but since it had just rained, it was a bit too muddy for my son's wheelchair to navigate. They have some events certain times of the year, so it would probably be fun for families to attend when those are happening. I did spot some Sunburst Railbikes on the property, perhaps some of the riders were wandering around the farm to look around since Prancer's is one of the stops during the ride. read more

My daughter loved this place for a quick stop to buy produce, look at pumpkins, and see some animals. Next time she wants to take a pony ride. We lived the tomatoes and watermelon we bought and prices are less than the farmers market. It is a quick pull off from the highway and you do have to be careful getting back on. Went here on Sunday first October weekend. Unfortunately we were told they had no entertainment or food venues until next weekend. I wish they would have posted that online. The place is open and perfect for pictures, they have a free tractor and barrel ride! As far as the tractor ride it's one of the best ones around. Visited Prancers Farm last November for Ventura County Farm Day. It's a larger property than I was expecting and we didn't give it a much attention as we might have if we weren't also trying to see other venues on the same day. We appreciated the samples they offered of unusual treats like yellow watermelon. That offered a subtle taste difference from red watermelon. We bought one to take home, so offering samples was a good move on their part. We also purchased several items from their market store, which features some craft items, along with produce. They also have a freezer case with ice cream and fruit bars for extra refreshment. We didn't take the time to go for a tractor-drawn wagon ride around the property. Nice to have that as an option. Free parking available in their dirt lot. Great test for your car's shock absorbers! They offered up some great seasonal displays for photo ops. Always great to have farm venues like this to bring city/suburban kids to show them where food comes from, besides the grocery store! read more

Lots of space, great for walking definitely got my steps in. The free tractor wagon ride around the grounds was nice. The corn maze was spacious and fun. However, the price to get in on The Weeknd is double that of during the week and I don't feel the visit was worth that price of $26. All the things the kids really wanted to do, of course were all additional fees like the petting zoo, horse ride, face paint, etc. and not the most pocket friendly either. The music playing was good and definitely livened the mood all around. The staff was friendly and smiles everywhere, that was also nice and welcoming. I booked my daughter's second birthday party here. They were lifesavers! Weather and traffic made me late arriving with decorations. All I had to do was hand them off and instruct.... staff members helped set it all up for me while I went to tend to family. They directed my vendors and guest no problem even when I wasn't there so that everyone knew where to go. They brought out the tickets and pumpkins for all my guests had accommodations with fun farm activities to do. Everyone was kind and answered any question I had. The weather in the afternoon was perfect... starting the party around 3 ish or 4... The farm closes at 7, but we had more than enough time to have our food, cake, and do plenty of pony rides, petting zoo, picking strawberries, and doing a tractor ride around the farm. Depends on each person and family style this patch could be the ideal place for family fun. It's different than your parking lot set up pumpkin patch. It's vast, open, with many different activities such as petting zoo, pony rides, hay rides, barrel-train rides, magicians, bull mechanical ride, little local homemade booth, pumpkin paintings, face paintings, pumpkin bowling, etc to name a few that I can remember. The entry fee is stiffer than other places for those activities that they provide. Weekend $23/person (I went on October 15th) weekday $12 children under 3 Free Parking is free. You will be on a farm a dirt road so don't wash your car prior to the trip (we did lol) and wear comfortable beat up shoes because it will change color after the trip. We didn't do any activities, but only walk through and took hundreds of photos. There are many photo ops. Overall it's the great place to visit if you are in the area. read more

I heard about this place from a local mom's group and decided to visit. Took my family and it is super cute! Being it was our first time, we were a little confused where to go, so we kind of just walked around. We didn't do the U pick, but did stop at the market place in front. We stopped on our way home from Solvang today. Greeted by a young lady who assisted us and answered all our questions. 20.00 for a large flat of the biggest juiciest strawberries we have had in years. We definitely had a great growing season. Buying direct from growers is a must. Visiting farmers markets and growing fields helps them survive. Prances has a great selection but visit as many as you can and buy directly from them when possible. We love Prancers farms read more

We had a fabulous time at this pumpkin patch yesterday. Our large group of various ages all enjoyed the experience very much. We had small children in our group so we didn't want something to overwhelmingly big or expensive. This pumpkin patch met all of our needs. Yes it is a little pricey to get in as other people have mentioned but honestly it's a good value compared to other local pumpkin patches. It's not as big as some of the others but again if you have small ones this is a good thing. The hayride is included in the admission which is nice and all of our family members enjoyed that very much. The maze was also included in the admission price. There are a few extras , but the only one that our family chose was the petting zoo and that was well worth it . The employees really make a difference at this pumpkin patch! They are all go out of their way to be friendly to the customers and helpful. Alex in the petting zoo was a really stood out in a great way. He was very good with the small kids and even helped my grandson hold a small lamb that was 3 months old. Parking was very easy there was a lot of help every step of the way from employees if you needed assistance of any way. There were some food trucks and ice cream trucks that provided snacks at a fairly reasonable price as well. The only thing that I thought that was overpriced were the actual pumpkins themselves we were all set to purchase them on the way out but a decent sized pumpkin was $20 and we just felt that was a bit too much. ; if you are looking for an affordable family experience I highly recommend this pumpkin farm at $15 per person I think overall the price is very fair. read more

We were taking a road trip to Ojai and saw Prancers Farm from afar. It looked pretty cute, so at the last possible moment after hemming and hawing about it, I decided to pull into Prancers' parking lot at the last minute like the crazy driver that I am. We were so happy that I made that decision. We didn't even know what we were going to do or what Prancers Farm was about. I just wanted to take a peek because I've passed by it so many times in the past and never stopped in before. It was so nice, OMG! There was this old vintage truck where we took a bunch of photos. They have a live bee colony in their little market. It's a wood and glass structure so you can see the bees up close but the only way in and out for the bees is through an opening outside, so it's completely safe for those afraid of getting stung. The bees cannot get out of the hive into the store. The market was a little empty when we got there. Like there were fruit and veggie displays that didn't have anything on them to sell. The market carried fresh produce, honey, jerky, nuts and other snacks. We did strawberry picking while we were there. We had no idea what was going on. I don't know if we missed a sign or something but off to the side, we just found some small paper cartons that usually hold raspberries and blueberries and grabbed those to fill up. Turns out we were supposed to pre-purchase plastic containers @ $8/box and THEN go pick the strawberries. OOPS. But it worked out. We ended up just bringing all the strawberries we picked in those little blue boxes, filled up the plastic ones and paid for them. They were the biggest strawberries we had ever picked! I mean- HUGE. (See photos.) They were as sweet as other farms I've picked at but still sweet enough not to complain about the flavor plus they were perfect for chocolate-dipped strawberries because of how large they were. They were too expensive considering we picked them ourselves. It wasn't even a full flat's worth of strawberries but I paid $35 for them. Normally I could get a full flat for only $28 at U-Pick farms that I didn't have to pick myself. There also offered pony rides at $8/kid as well as horseback riding lessons. They have different events throughout the year- Halloween, Christmas, Easter/spring. I loved how the old Fillmore & Western Railway train passed through while we were there. Definitely going to have to reserve some tickets for that next time we're in the area. read more

$26 per person for the pumpkin patch on the weekends (including our 2.5 year old)! No one wants to pay $80 for mom, dad, and a kid to enter just for their toddler to say "I'm all done!" in less than 30 minutes. If you have young ones, it's probably best to go fight the crowds at Underwood Farms on the weekends. At least you'll save a lot of money! read more

First time coming to Prancers Farm. Entrance fee was expensive. Entertainment that day was poor. Everything else was great.

I'm an animal lover and frequent many farms, this is by far the worst farm in terms of the treatment and conditions of the animals. Goats and sheep look extremely underfed. Sheep were eating the wood off the bench and the goats were desperately trying to stick their head out the fence to get what little scraps of grass they could, either that or eat their own poop. One gave birth right in front of us & staff had no clue she was pregnant. After that one of the staff members grabbed the mother and dragged her by the ear to a tractor and picked her up by the ear and tail to toss her and her baby on there and drove away. Our petting time was cut short and everyone was horrified at the treatment of the goat. read more

Came here on a Sunday, it wasn't too busy, enough to be able to do most things. The wagon rides and cow train thing were included in the admission so that was pretty cool for someone who wants to ride them more than once. They have face painting available too. Petting zoo along with pony rides too are open. Pick your own pumpkins which they have PLENTY to select from. Decent prices for being a pumpkin patch as some places are highly overpriced. They also have fruit picking and other produce you can buy as well, I saw oranges and tomatoes but didn't venture off on the whole farm so I'm sure there is more. There is plenty of parking and it's also free. Congrats to the owner, I use to go to the one off the 101 freeway so it's great to see a business grow in the area. I would def come to this place vs Underwood farms as prances village is better priced with plenty of fun for your kiddos. Very friendly staff as well, I saw a lot of happy faces and they were all helpful and sweet. I will be back soon! read more

The staff seems generally uninterested to be there. Short hayride with no narration or seasonal displays. Go to Underwood farms instead. Went to Prancers Farm for our Christmas tree and could not have been more delighted to visit this awesome farm. Super easy to get there and the store has the best produce we have seen in a long time! All the trees were not yet set up - the team there unwrapped one of each in the sizes we were looking for and we didn't need to look any further! The trees were that perfect! The family that owns the farm was so welcoming and helpful. Go there for your tree AND go back for your produce! Support this beautiful local farm and their rescue animals! read more

Any day spent in the Santa Paula area is a good one as far as I'm concerned. It's a short drive from the "big city" and once you get there, it's clear skies, open green fields, and lots of lush farmland. This year, we wanted to get out to a real pumpkin farm since Covid ruined all that last year. Prancers has some issues, which frankly are out of their control, but generally it was a really fun day. The price of admission seemed a bit steep, eight dollars during the week, and $10 on weekends. For that price, you do get to do some fun stuff like a tractor pull ride, a pyramid made of stacked hay bales for the kids to play on, a corn maze and plenty of pumpkin fields to walk around in that make it fun. For an extra price, you can ride a pony, you can go in to the petting zoo or pick your own fresh strawberries. Probably due to the drought, the corn maze was only about 2 feet tall, and there were only some random pathways through the middle so it was by no means a maze, more like a field to walk through. Although there were some dinosaurs waiting in parts of it. But you're there for the pumpkins and to get some fall spirits going, right? Well, this is a good place for that. There were some really unique pumpkins around of all different varieties and some had scary faces molded in them while they were growing that I've never seen before. The fresh strawberries we bought from the farm store out front looked better than you can get in the market. Every one of the staff of young ranch hands from the parking lot to the ticket booth were all very friendly and helpful too. I really wanted to buy some fresh corn and there wasn't any to be had, but maybe this just wasn't the year for that. All in all, Prancer's makes for a very fun day of getting out into the countryside, walking around the pumpkin fields to getready for fall and Halloween, and also getting a little glimpse of where your food is grown. read more

They didn't have enough shade, flies were on them, and some seemed really out of it.......I couldn't find a water source for some and it was a really hot day. I was coming home from Carpenteria and stopped by to pick up some strawberries. They looked and smelled wonderful but when I got home I discovered that they "hid" the bruised and spotted berries at the bottom of the flat. Seems to be a common practice among the berry growers nowadays. Usually half ripe fruit is hidden; these berries had black spots. Very unattractive and truly don't know what they are from so they get discarded. Since I live over 30 miles away from Prancers Farm, I am not willing to make the round trip to return them. read more
