A beautiful place with authentic handmade pasta. Service was impressive. Staff never missed a beat. From the minute we walked in the door to the second we left we were taken care of. Started with the fried assortment of shrimp calamari and cod fish served with a nice creamy sauce. We did the fettuccine with shrimp and clams and wow AMAZING * then we had the pasta with mushrooms that was mouth watering. For dessert - tiramisu! So so good. We ordered the insalante with mixed greens, fresh herbs and candied hazelnuts (which was a delicious touch/crunch) and Lambrusco vinaigrette. Super fresh!! We then got the Fettuccine alle vongule with clams and shrimp. The pasta was perfect with a great flavor to the pasta. Not overly seafood(ie). I liked the taste of the tangy sauce. We also got the Ravioli with short rib which had a nice sage/butter sauce. Short rib cooked well. I think the portions were good sizes and the vibes made it super special. Really liked the neighborhood feel and the staff was super attentive and sweet. Louie took our order and recommended the short rib ravioli! I had this place bookmarked for ever and after going this past weekend, my friend and I were left scratching our heads wondering why. The staff was very well meaning, and attentive, but it felt disjointed with separate people asking us the same questions. If they were working together then they should pass along our drink order rather than being asked for a second time. As for food, we ordered the Brussels sprouts, sea bass, and pasta with rabbit in it. Presentation was great, food came out quickly, but everything fell a bit flat. The Brussels sprouts were overly cheesy and not crispy, the fish was the best, and the pasta lacked flavor ... it could have just been that it's rabbit. The most disappointing meal I may have ever had, or at least this year. I had heard good things about this place so decided to try it over my tried and true greenpoint pasta place Le fanfare. Big fucking mistake. All four dishes were disgusting. The only thing redeeming this restaurant is the wonderful wait staff, but I think they know this so they have to compensate by being very outgoing. We started with the Caesar Brussel sprouts and the burrata pesto bruschetta. The Brussels sprouts were too heavy and covered with a thick anchovy sauce, even drowned. It was a wet hot mess and didn't sit well at all, horrible consistency . Next up the burrata crostini. The mint pesto tasted old and as if it came right out of a container. The burrata was ok but it needed some salt and oil. The whole dish tasted bland and stale, the opposite of what a burrata is supposed to be. And here are the most disappointing- the 30+$ pastas. Such a disgrace. The first up was the ricotta angolotti with truffle butter sauce. It came with corn that tasted like it had been frozen- not fresh and soft at all DURING CORN SEASON!!! The sauce tasted nothing of truffle but luckily was actual butter. The worst part was the ricotta, completely clumpy and clotted and grainy inside. Probably also frozen or just not fresh and past its prime. An absolute fail of a dish at that price it's really outrageous. Next up we had the white pork ragu with some sort of flat square pasta. First ip the pasta was served in a clump so it was just stick together and completely not tossed in the sauce - at least it seemed to be fresh pasta but it was almost worse because it was really all stuck together. The sauce was abhorrent-so thin and watery and the pork was dry and tasted like Morningstar vegetarian frozen crumbles. It must've been lean or something bc it completely lacked and flavor or fatty taste a ragu should absolutely have. Tasted completely unsalted. We couldn't even eat this one we left most of it uneaten. I was able to muscle down the agnolotti because at the least it wasn't dry, but we left a majority of the food at the table. For a 175$ meal ( only one drink each) I feel this was the biggest rip off of my life. It seems we ordered all the wrong things but at this price all the food should be at least decent. read more

Ordered 3 appetizers and 4 entries and 2 desserts. in general nice atmosphere, good service, good looking food. while in general the food was good, however, the quality of the food is not consistent. for example on our grilled octopus, while grill to almost perfection, some part was much too salty than other parts. same with our fish. very nice and crispy on the skin but tender on the meat. however, some part was super salty and other parts tasted just right! felt like someone in the kitchen was spraying salt a little too drunk. one of the pasta came with some noodles stuck together. chocolate cape was not rich enough. the worst was the tiramisu which felt like they bought it from some supermarket. read more

Classic elevated Italian food in north Brooklyn. We ventured out here Friday night based on a friend's recommendation and it didn't disappoint. Right when we were seated we were given a side of focaccia. We had to stop ourselves from not devouring this to save some for our entrees. Altogether we shared the insalata, spigola, and the agnolotti. I always like to get some greens with my meal, and the mixed greens was a good starter. Personally I loved the agnolotti. It tasted so bright and fresh and I loved the addition of corn. The spigola which is a pan seared sea bass was cooked really well. It came with couscous, olives and tomatoes and it made it a really well rounded meal. The ambience in this place is so cozy. This would be a lovely place for a date. read more

I found this place based on its reviews. They don't take reservations, so only walk-ins, delivery, or takeout. Your entire party must be with you to get seated. If not, they have you wait at the bar. The food was good. I must say that the insalata with mixed greens, fresh herbs, candied hazelnuts, and Lambrusco vinaigrette were really delicious. All the ingredients just complemented each other. I've never tasted such sweet hazelnuts before. For entrees, we ordered the housemade pastas - such as the Tagliatelle with shiitake mushrooms, butter sauce, and Parmigiano. I came here solo after a long day of work. It was quiet on a Friday night so I sat at the bar. The bartender was extremely nice and attentive. He made me a sweet but strong espresso martini with a hint of caramel if I remember well. The food was amazing. The flavor in both dishes was too good and it was ready quickly and was hot... just how i like it. I'm saying that because a lot of restaurants i've visited recently haven't served me hot food, but warm which disappoints me each time. This is our spot we when want a "treat ourselves" meal. The food is always fantastic, drinks consistent and the whole experience is overall great. The manager was very kind and seated us right away, we didn't have a res but it was early on a Monday evening so it worked out. They've done a great job with their outdoor setup, nice tables/benches and cute pink umbrellas to distract from dining on the street. Our waiter was super, super attentive and very kind making small talk with us. As for the food, I love the agnolotti, I get it without corn (personal preference) but this time I opted for some square pasta with pork ragu and it was a TREAT! So good, so filling and flavorful. My fiancé got the duck, I hate duck but I had a bite and I legit liked it (he absolutely loved it) and my friend got the agnolotti and loved it. Also the pesto/burrata app is fab. I always get the Hornet, fiancé the Beagle and my friend got the peppercorn sour which she loved and got another. Also, A+ for drink presentation. Not all Italian restaurants place a big focus on cocktail programs but they certainly do! Oh and we always get an espresso martini for dessert (it's not milky or cloudy which I love) and the olive oil cake! *vegetarian review* To start off, the service was good no concerns there. They were attentive and the food came out quickly! The ambience was good, they have outdoor seating although we were seated in an uncovered portion. We started with the crispy eggplant which looked so good in pictures. Flavor wise, the torretta (eggplant dish) was a bit lacking - it could have used a bit more salt and spices overall and in addition, the eggplant was not crispy unfortunately, a bit soggy. Moving on to the main entrees, we had the tagliatelle with sautéed mushrooms. Personally, I loved the mushrooms and pasta was al dente, but this also suffered from one dimensional flavor profile and I was waiting for a little bit more from this pasta dish. I liked it, but didn't love it. Meanwhile, the agnolotti (stuffed ricotta filled pasta) was a great choice and I think the truffle butter sauce really makes this dish with an excellent flavor profile. 5/5 for this dish, so fulfilling. We ordered a side of the broccoli rabe to try to balance out our meal, and again, disappointed by the lack of flavor. The broccoli itself was cooked well, just need more flavor. I would say the best part of the meal were the cocktails. I got the bourbon cider, which was SO good. I am not a bourbon person and this cocktail was just so perfectly crafted and not overpowering. My partner got the herbivore for a more refreshing cocktail, a great choice, and definitely a strong cocktail. Overall, I thought it was a good restaurant in a good location that was very close to being a great restaurant if the above mentioned dishes got a little more complexity to their flavor profiles. It was a nice mix of cod, shrimp, and calamari. The salad was good, nothing special. The sea bass was really good. Cooked very well and well seasoned. The tagliatelle, on the other hand, was kind of disappointing. It had no flavor and the pasta was just okay for being freshly made. I prefer Forma Pasty Factory's mushroom tagliatelle. Naked dog? What the heck kind of name is that? When I mentioned to my wife that's where I booked tonight's date, she thought I was taking her to a hot dog stand in Brooklyn. Nothing could be further from the truth! This is an absolute culinary inspiration felt from Klaudia our server, to Leo the manager, to the artists in the kitchen! Bellisimo!! The decor is intimate, cozy and family friendly, in a neighborhood that is surely undergoing a rapid change - the abandoned waterfront factories across the street will likely be replaced by a bustling waterfront scene in the years to come. The excitement is already here at Naked Dog - where a packed house of happy patrons were enjoying excellent and creative Italian fare! We enjoyed the Burrata nestled between crisp and delicious lightly fried coins of eggplant, with a touch of balsamic glaze. Heaven! We also ordered the roasted cauliflower...Wow! Addicting! For dinner, we had the homemade pappardelle in a lively meat sauce - fresh, delicate, perfect-sized portion. We also tried the short rib over creamy polenta. Perfect balance of tastes, respecting the natural rustic flavor of the short rib - without adding sometimes all too pungent ingredients other places may try to work into the cooking process - and it worked perfectly with the mellowness of the polenta! Montepulciano by-the-glass at a reasonable price to accompany my meal and I was as happy as could be on this unseasonably warm, foggy, post Christmas Friday night! I recommend, wherever you are in the Tri-State, to fire up your Waze app and find the most convenient way to travel to this gem situated on the corner of a quiet (for now!) street. Smooth and creamy with some bitterness from the aperol, some sweetness, some sourness, a bit of everything you could want in a drink. The bourbon cider was good too, and the bartender was cool. Service was pretty good and all of the COVID-related precautions were followed, so we felt safe dining here. I have been here a couple of times. I have to say the staff at Naked Dog are the loveliest and most welcoming in the neighborhood. I dinned outdoors and ordered food for pick up. Both times the food was great. Lovely presentation, yummy, and the price is reasonable. They have a good selection of vegetarian dishes which I appreciate a lot. They are not blend and are very creative. I love the cauliflower with golden raisins and pine nuts. It's quite delicious. What really impressed me was the people here. They are the friendliest and the nicest around. The first time my friend and I were catching up over dinner and dinning out for the first time, in October 2020. The staff was so helpful to make sure that we are comfortable and gave us the attention we needed and left us alone when we were just enjoying ourselves. I remembered the server was really sweet. She is a regular here and I remember she said treats why she keeps going back. Last night, I ordered food to pick up. I really missed their cauliflowers. The food was ready within the estimated time for pick up. Ready in 15 min or so. I was stuck on a work zoom call and didn't get there until 30 min later. Staff at Naked Dog called me and see if I am okay. I couldn't pick up the phone of course. When I got there they said we were worried about you and your food would get cold. That was so nice of them. It is rare that I eat at a restaurant and just love everything about it, but this place was just about close to perfect. I had the Beagle cocktail which was extremely well-crafted, and I plan to return to try the other 8 or so cocktails on the menu. Compliments to whomever designed the drink menu! They all sounded super thoughtful and delicious. We had the meatballs, octopus, short rib, tagliatelle with mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, and gelato-- and I can't complain about any of it. I get tired of seeing Brussels sprouts on menus usually, but these were decadent and creamy with a hint of lemon to balance. Review during COVID! Took my bf out on a date last night. I wanted something casual, with good cocktails...and I found it! It was super easy to get a table for 2 (Thursday night), and the tables are spaced out nicely, so that it doesn't feel crowded (which would have made m3 nervous). Cocktails: - Beagle: refreshing and summery, with lemon, mint, honey, and bourbon. - Keep Oaxacan: I would have never thought of mixing mescal and red vermouth, but it works! - NY Peppercorn Sour: light and fresh, with a pungent note from the pink pepper. Perfect with rich food! - Housemade Limoncello : this was way stronger than I thought! First, you taste the alcohol, and then the aroma of lemons. It definitely works well as a digestive, cleaning the palate after a rich meal...but it's intense! It might be because my family makes a sweeter, more syrupy Limoncello...but this one really got to my head. Sip it carefully, it's a bomb! Food: - Torretta di Melanzane: I love eggplant, and here it was fried to perfection. The burrata is creamy and fresh and the basil brings up the whole dish. Excellent appetizer! - Bruschetta Pesto e Burrata: I am crazy about Burrata. And this one is delicious and decadent like the one I get in Italy. Great pairing with the toasted bread and the intense perfume of the basil pesto. - Tagliatelle with shiitake mushrooms and thyme butter: you can tell that this is housemade pasta, with the perfect thickness and texture. Great plate! - Tiramisù : I had been craving Tiramisù for a while, and this one was pretty good! I personally prefer Tiramisù with a lot of coffee and marsala, to the point where the biscuits melt...but it's because I'm a spoiled Italian and that's how my mom makes it. This one was good. My wife and I have lived in Williamsburg for 7 years and have eaten at hundreds of restaurants in and around Brooklyn, Queens and NYC. Your bartender and manager were SO ADAMANT about NOT letting her have a taste that we were ready to leave! Nobody was asking for a taste of caviar! The fact that you charge $10 for tap beer is ridiculous anyway but the fact that your staff had to be asked and reasoned with by me like I was a fucken hostage negotiator is just plain ignorant by you as the owner! Two ex-Brooklynites spent a night in Greenpoint. We may be Babyboomers but we maneuvered the landscape like Hipsters. Found this restaurant on Yelp & because they don't take reservations, we arrived via Uber just minutes after opening. We opted to get out of the humidity & got a sweet table towards the back. Our waitress asks our water preference & immediately came back with menus. They had a decent wine list & we both ordered a glass of Prosecco. The room to fill up. A young man came to our table with complimentary focaccia bread. We ordered an appetizer to share, a variety of fried fish, calamari, cod & shrimp, which was perfectly cooked & you could tell was not frozen first. We were tickled with the selection of music playing softly, Jimi Hendrix & some obscure Kinks,our music. The waitress was anxious to take our order & although was attentive we both felt rushed by her. The only negative for the entire meal, because the food was extraordinary!
