Chicken Sando (new to the menu) and Side Smashed Potatoes

Loved everything about our first visit today. We ordered by the kitchen, brought and found a table. I love the space, the variety of seating options, with even a few tables outside. We chose a table with chairs and a shared cushioned church pew. The person who took our order was friendly and kind, especially after my husband accidentally shattered a glass while pouring our water. The food was phenomenal. Everything we had was delicious. I wanted to try so many things, I ordered a few different items and have plenty left for my lunch tomorrow. I started with the crispy deviled eggs, they looked as good as they tasted. I also ordered two sides, King Pao Brussel sprouts and fried rice. Along with my iced coffee, it was a perfect meal. The eggs had a crispy shell that complemented the creamy mayo yolk. The egg and kimchi fried rice was perfect comfort food with the added crunch of the delicious kimchi. I love Brussels and these did not disappoint. Every piece was crisp and the almonds were a nice addition. The iced coffee was perfect, not too sweet with a perfectly creamy coffee taste. I stole a bite of my husband's chicken sando and smashed potatoes too. The fried chicken was fantastic and I will be back for my own order of those potatoes soon. We were wowed, from beginning to end, the service, the food, the kindness. Can't wait to return!

Delicious food, amazing decor, and some of the friendliest staff I've had the pleasure of meeting. A very much needed restaurant , not only in the Springfield neighborhood, but in Jax as a whole that delivered the perfect balance of taste and nutrition that would normally go overlooked. Both the steak sliders as well as the kimchi grilled cheese hit the right spot without feeling too heavy. I could eat the kung pao brussel sprouts breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also offer daily specials just to mix things up. They are still in their soft opening phase at the time of this review and will look to extending their days and hours in the coming weeks.

I like more of American fusion and my friend likes vegan. We made a reservation considering the symphony was playing. When we arrived there were a few open tables so who knows if it mattered. Next was hostess getting us to the table. Sometimes I wonder if they like their jobs. I don't think it is too hard to walk someone to a table, help them sit down, smile a bit then do it again. You could be flipping burgers. But seriously just smile and fake it. Our server was nice yet he looked like he had been gaming all week and forgot to take a shower. I say this as a mom. If I'm going to fine dining, I'd like the staff to brush their hair. Boomers and Gen X appreciate well kept staff. I mean, you had to touch your greasy hair to get it out of your eyes then touch our plates. Plus we barely saw you. No refills. Now to the food. I forgot to take pics. My friend had a salad and I had the $20 chicken sandwich. We are foodies and prob could have cooked up same at home. When I eat out and dine at high rated places, I do have some expectations. It was subpar. And finally we had decaf and espresso after the meal. We know coffee. We've traveled the world. Her espresso was just off. I tried it and choked. And last the bathrooms. They were clean! However there was a line. Only one ladies, one men, one both. And it's in this weird narrow space. Prob not going back. Always love me a new adventure.

So attentive and really knew the menu! I had the red curry - 4 stars for heat and it was just the perfect heat!!! I added the scallops and it was delicious! There are stairs, but if you walk straight through to the host/hostess stand at Dorothy's, there is a small elevator available. The décor was nice and there was a decent amount of seating available, enough to accommodate our group of 10 and another large group at the table next to ours. It looked like people came here with their families for special occasions. There was only one person working to cover everything from seating, take out, serving, etc., and he did an amazing job of staying on top of everything. He even took the time to explain to me that they recently decided to make their entire menu (save for the fried items) gluten free due to many requests they'd received from their customers. It was so nice to eat at a place that was so considerate! Their menu is definitely more fusion than authentic. I asked the server for a recommendation and he told me his favorite is the Curry Fried Rice, but it was a big portion, so I opted for his second favorite, the Drunken Noodles. I asked about the spice levels and asked for mine to be more spicy. It wasn't as spicy as I hoped, so I asked for a spice tray and added several spoonfuls of various chili flakes and peppers. My colleagues got the yellow curry and said it was basically flavorless, but they liked their Drunken Noodles. I'm thankful to have the gluten free option, but I was missing the essence of the classic/authentic flavor. Overall, the décor, ambience, and service was great, but the food was just okay.

After looking over the menu I knew I had to get a Banh Mi and we have really been craving one too so Ashley and I each had to get our own. I went the the Char Siu Pork Banh Mi with Peanut Butter Sauce and Ashley the Beef Brisket Banh Mi with Fire Hawk Sauce. Let me tell you both Banh Mi were amazing you couldn't go wrong with either. You also can't beat the prices either, $10 for the Char Siu Pork and $12 for the Beef Brisket. My Char Siu Pork was loaded with tender juicy pork that had so much flavor. The Peanut Butter Sauce also worked with it very well. The Banh Mi was not on your typical French Baguette but the roll was great. Fresh and soft. I was about 6 to 7 inchs but she was thick. I will say I didn't mind it not being on a baguette and the roof of my mouth also agree. The Beef Brisket Banh Mi was just as good if not better then the Char Siu. The brisket in it was amazing. So soft and tender with great flavor. Honestly some of the best brisket I have ever had in JAX and the Fire Hawk Sauce really added that little kick it needed. Do will say I think I did like the Fire Hawk Sauce better then the Peanut Butter. If you see Red Hawk Asian BBQ stop what you are doing and get yourself a Banh Mi. Might just be the best in Jacksonville.

We snagged a table closer to the restroom, but it was an arm's length from the table to the left, and right of us. Basically was sitting right up next to strangers, but not a big deal. Service was slow. Took a while to get our drinks, and then have our order taken. Once they took the order the food came out within a reasonable amount of time. We ordered the seared tuna, tom yum soup, and the panang curry. All of which was a total disappointment. We've had better seared tuna, so it wasn't the worst, but we could have gone without that as an appetizer. The tom yum soup tasted off, no where near as good as other Thai restaurants in the Jacksonville area. There were also bits of ginger, and something else that should have been removed. Did not come with rice. I took some of the rice that came with my curry, and gave it to my wife. As far as my curry. It wasn't terrible, I'd say a 6/10 but they did not have an option for a combination of meats, or seafood, so I got chicken. The chicken strip was something you would expect to get from a fast food Chinese restaurant, and portion was laughable. We chatted with a couple people that said they come here sometimes weekly, and that they think the food is great. I'm sorry to say, but they are missing out on some great Thai food if this is their spot.
