Let me start by saying, I HATE going to the Dr. I hate the wait times and sitting there, and filling out forms, and feeling like a piece of meat. I avoid them at all costs, until I can't ignore it anymore. Here's the short review: Go see Dr. Naltsas. Great bedside manner, prompt and on time, good sense of humor, efficient, and great follow up. Exactly what I was looking for. I had a mole on my back that was rubbing on my clothes that had popped up. It was red and swollen, and because I'm particularly extra white, I'm a pretty good candidate for skin cancer, so I decided to get it checked out. Appointment was for 10:30, and the office was about 7 minutes from my house. I showed up at 10:20 to fill out the paperwork although it was available online. I was just lazy. Right at 10:30, I was brought back, explained my issue, they got my temp and blood pressure, and I finished filling out the paperwork. 2 minutes later, Dr. Naltsas walked in. He asked me the problem, I asked if I should take off my shirt, to which he replied with a smile, "That would be fantastic... my x-ray vision isn't as good as it used to be". Bwahahaha. He looked at it, said they'd take off the mole and literally 3 minutes later, the assistant was back with the tray of stuff needed. He explained everything before he did it, was quick, gave me instructions to take care of it and said the office would call me in about a week to give me lab results, but also gave me his first impression which is, it wasn't anything to worry about. One week later, they called and gave me the results. I'm 45 years old, and growing up was always getting hurt. I was on a first name basis with my Dr.s. However, as many Dr.'s as I've seen, this was arguably the best experience I've had. Appointment was at 10:30, and I was home by 11 am! read more

Dr. Naltsas is ok. Nothing great or noteworthy. As others have said, he is definitely seeing patients as fast as possible to keep up the insurance billables! I don't have have many options with my fail of an HMO plan, so going here is the "best" of the available options. When I've seen before he's given a brief glance and been quick to jump to a diagnosis or give a pamphlet, and he does creep me out a bit. I more recently had a hand surgery to remove a foreign body, and was impressed with his skills. The experience was again pretty rushed, but his technical ability was right on. I did not get a call back from the office with the lab results of the removed body as promised, and had to call them another 15 times to be able to speak with someone to get the results. To elaborate upon that point, the management of this "Academy Physicians of Dermatology" office shared by Dr. Naltsas -SUCKS-. They rarely answer the phone at all, and their voicemail is always full. When you get there, the staff is nice enough and the office ambiance is nice, but good luck getting them on the phone to make or cancel an appointment! Even when you do talk to them, getting the information you need from them is challenging. Parking at the lot for this office building is good, however the office does not validate parking. read more

I was referred by my PCP and called to make an appointment. The lady that answered the phone was not the least bit friendly! In fact, she was actually impatient with me and acted as if my calling to make an appointment was a burden to the point that I felt very uncomfortable. I was given an appointment for a month later. After hanging up, I called my PCP to get a different referral to a different Dr. Dr. Naltsas may be nice, I don't know....I don't think I will ever know because his the lady that answered the phone ruined any chances of me ever going there and lost a billable patient for Dr. Naltsas! read more

I was referred to Facey Dermatology by my PCP for an issue she wanted another opinion on. He spent a whole 4 minutes with me only to tell me there is "no magical cure" and to come back in six months. Dr. Naltsas is one of the kindest doctors I've ever met! The other reviews are shocking because every time I see him (which is at least once a month for accutane) he is always so cheerful. I'm not sure if some people maybe caught him on a bad day, but I can only speak from my experience which has been great. I see him in porter ranch at Facey medical center which is so clean and organized, where everyone is super friendly, and there is a gigantic parking lot. I'll update my review if anything changes but so far, so good! read more

nice place and friendly staff and everything, but this doctor kept experimenting on me with medications. He had me go back to see him every two months for about a year and every time he would give me a different diagnosis/medication (oral, topical, injections, you name it) and I have yet to find out what my rash is about. I knew when making my first appointment with Dr. Naltsas that he only had 3 stars from Yelpers, but I decided to try him anyway given that I currently have HMO and options are limited. My assessment is: Nah. Go elsewhere. I had to bring my toddler with me which is always a challenge when doing chores, but I waited an hour to be seen for only 2 seconds. When the doctor finally walked in, he was friendly, but I can't imagine how he could assess my problem when he barely looked at me. He quickly prescribed me something which he said was safe during pregnancy, but when I came home & researched it, it's really not. And my obgyn advised against it. Also, the receptionist at this place is ok, she gave my daughter a book which was nice, but she makes you feel very rushed. Could it be that she has to work that way because the doctors over-book? When I signed in for my appointment, I noticed that in one half-hour slot, there were at least 6 other patients also booked then. Once I go back to PPO insurance, I'm returning to my old dermatologist. Oh, one Yelper on here said it's really easy to get an appointment, even for the same day, but that's not what I experienced. They scheduled me out about 3 weeks or so. Could be an HMO thing :(. One more thing! Before I left that appointment they scheduled me for a follow-up and I took it reluctantly, but as soon as I got home I decided there's no way I'm returning. I have tried to call the office 4 times to speak to someone to cancel this apppointment, but can't get through! I had seen Dr. Naltsas for over 25 years for minor issues, which all were dealt with professionally and without incident. I always found him very pleasant and friendly, but his office staff had been surly and indifferent for the past eight years or so. Recently, I called to reschedule an appointment to be told that he had retired. No one had contacted me to tell me, so I would have shown up to a shuttered business. I recently went to the UCLA medical center in Porter Ranch and saw his name on the physician directory in the lobby. Just for the WTF factor, I can only rate him three stars. read more

I have an idea that serves me well when I read Yelp (or any other rating service) reviews. First I discard the 1-star reviews, as they are usually written either by competitors or by people with mental issues. Second, I look very carefully at the 5-star reviews for any tell-tale signs the they were written by the proprietor or his employees. Well, I'm not the proprietor or one of his employees. I am a 26-year patient of Dr. Naltsas, as are my wife and my son. The son, who had the worst acne case I'd ever seen, has now skin as smooth as a baby's. I've had two basal-cell carcinomas removed by Dr. Naltsas over the years, plus countless nitro shpritzes for an assortment of moles. Here is what I think of Dr. Naltsas: Possibly the best 'bedside manner' of all of my doctors (internist, cardiologist, opthalmologist, etc.). A kind, cheerful man for whom I readily travel from the Westside (a place practically infested with dermatologists) to Granada Hills without complaining. The office and the examination rooms are always spotless, and the staff is efficient and friendly. read more

I wish that my HMO had other options for a dermatologist. My appointment was short and rushed , when I got there the receptionist ignored me while she checked her texts on her cell. She was nice afterwards but that s#it is annoying , she is suppose to be working not checking her dam cell, bad enough that I had to wait to get my paperwork since she was too busy on her cell.I swear I waited longer in the waiting room than my appointment was read more

It is absolutely impossible to get somebody on the phone in this office. The worst customer service ever. I don't know how good Dr. Naltsas is as a physician because I was not able to talk to any of his staff to get an appointment, but I do know he is a horrible manager. Dr. Naltsas' ability as a dermatologist notwithstanding, his is the worst run practice that I've ever encountered. His staff rarely answers the phone, and does not respond to voice mail messages in a timely manner --if at all. They do not call with appointment reminders. And if you want to change appointments and they say they'll "squeeze you in" --BEWARE...it could be a wait up to two hours. read more

I've been here a couple of times for allergy reasons. The place is in a convenient spot and it's very easy to locate. The building is well maintained and tidy. The staff I've talked to are polite too. I recommend this place. Very pleasant experience here , will come again soon read more

Dr. Naltsas was very friendly and took good care of me during my visit. The staff was friendly and there is a large parking lot. (However, they don't validate so be prepared to pay $1-2 for parking) I did have a small wait (under 20 minutes), but I expect that at any doctor's office and I had to fill out the usual paperwork as a new patient. I would definately recommend Dr. Naltsas to anyone and I would return to see him in the future if the need ever arised. I have an HMO as well and did not have any issues with my visit. Not quite sure what some of these other reviewers are expecting. Maybe a lollipop after their visit? read more

Dr Steven found two cancers on the back of my neck that PA Chu at Dr. Evelyn Jankowski clinic in Granada missed. He is competent caring and gentle. I totally trust him. Every time I visit this office I have a positive experience. All the staff in this office are professional and efficient. He helped me so much I don't need to even go back since the meds she prescribed me have been doing such a great job.  Basically specific creams for rosacea which are Rx only but definitely work. He is kind and makes you feel comfortable regardless off any condition. I can tell he had been doing Dermatology for years. I think he is just FANTASTIK! read more

Dr. Naltsas is absolutely wonderful! He helped me completely get rid of the acne that plagued my face for almost 5 years. Very friendly man. How ever, his office staff SUCK. THEY ARE TERRIBLE! They never ever answer the phone which is one of their primary jobs. What kind of doctors office is this impossible to get in touch with? What could you possibly be doing? I seriously hope they read this or someone tells them because it is so frustrating I am switching doctors. It is stressful not to mention irritating that I can never get a hold of them. I actually went ahead and just went to the office once because I couldn't get them on the phone. He is a great doctor but they ruin it for him. So sorry to be that person but I really am so frustrated with these people. You are secretaries, do your job and answer the phone! If I could give less than 1 star I would. Dr. Naltsas is obviously busy enough not to care, as you can only blame his terrible office staff for so much. As other Yelpers stated already, getting anyone on the phone is impossible, and they rarely call you back after you leave a message. If it wasn't for my HMO, I would choose almost any other dermatologist over this one. If you have a choice, DO NOT make the mistake of allowing this bunch of apathetic drones take care of your skin issues!! read more

I am writing this review out of sheer frustration. I have only had 1 visit here, via my HMO. He put me on a strong medication that can only be dispensed 1 month at a time, with a mandatory test in between. When I started my last part of the meds, I starting calling the office to get the ball rolling so there is no lapse in the treatment. I have called every day for a week, not once has anyone picked up the phone. I have left 3 voicemail messages during this time and no one has bothered to call me back. This morning, I have called every hour on the hour and no one has ever picked up. CRAZY! How can you run a practice like this? Now I have 3 pills left, and going out of town for the holidays starting Monday. I guess I have no choice to but to go cold turkey on the treatment until someone gets around to calling me back and setting up my test and getting a new Rx. This is unacceptable. Why am I, as the patient, having to do all this? Shouldn't the DOCTOR be doing the follow up and making sure my test is scheduled, etc?? PS-Their office is closed for luch noon-2 everyday, so showing up to get some help in person is very difficult for those of us with a fulltime job. read more

Have been a patient for several years and Dr. Naltsas is always friendly and professional. He was the only Dr. I've seen that was willing to treat my chronic eczema aggressively and not just give me another tube of 2 oz cream to cover a body of rashes. Always had a kind word. I have been here twice and both times Dr. Naltsas has been very nice and helpful. Parking was only 75 cents for each 20 minutes and my wait time in his office was only about 5 minutes. I did not give him five stars because I had to call his office four times before I could get a live person to answer the phone. The first three times my call went to their voice mail and I left a message each time. However, nobody ever called me back. I told Dr. Naltsas during my appointment and he was very apologetic and said he was unaware of the poor phone service. I've never been to a dermatologist before, so I'm not sure how to gauge my experience, but here goes. I love that it's easy to get an appointment, even on the same day. And you rarely have to wait once you get there--at most 5-10 minutes. I've gone to Dr. Naltsas for two separate rashes, and each time, he quickly and correctly diagnosed them (I assume so since the treatments appeared to work), but I don't know if it's because Dr. Naltsas is so experienced that he's seen all this before or if it's because he sees so many patients a day, but he isn't super thorough and won't spend a lot of time with you unless you advocate on your behalf and ask questions or give him what you think might be pertinent information. For example, after diagnosing me, he told me what the treatments would be and I mentioned I was breastfeeding and around a toddler all day, so then, he changed the treatments. i loved my initial appointment with dr. naltsas.....great staff, lovely environment, and even he has a nice bedside manner. i had gone in for a strange rash....something i've never had before and was perplexed. he said immediately, oh, yes, excema and proceeded to give me a shot. i went back 5 more times with the same thing growing impatient each time as i paid my $30 copay. he never bothered to try to figure out the root of the problem and kept giving ointments, shots, lotions, etc. i grew impatient wanting to know WHY this was happening. after over 6 appointments with the same routine, i gave up. tried another derm. and on the first appointment got an allergy test and figured it out!! no more dr. naltsas...time for him to retire! nice guy but not into his work. seems over it. read more
