I especially love the tinned tomatoes drenched in their sauce, great to mop up with the generous pieces of soft, buttery bread you're given with your meal. Another great plus for me is the milky coffee; basically a glass of hot milk with what I believe it's instant coffee (I might be wrong here) but DON'T knock it till you try it. It's delicious and you'll probably order another. There's also cakes and other stuff, but I haven't yet bothered to try as the full english is so great. All the food is *very* reasonably priced. The main problem (to me, not to the café owners!) is that everyone knows it's good, and the cabin tends to get packed on weekends. It can be disappointing to travel all the way to Abridge to find that all the tables are taken + there's a queue or bikers who got there first waiting for the next 5 ones to vacate. It's not a big place, and during winter it's too cold to sit outside. The tables are packed together and communal, which it's not everyone's cup of tea. But the fact it's packed reinforces how good the grub is. Arrive earlier or later on the day, beat the crowds and give it a go! It's totally worth it.

On entering there was a very friendly welcoming and we sat in the bar and had a drink while ordering. Being called to the table the waitress took our drinks for us. Just a nice touch. The food was beyond my expectations with plenty of choice. If you are hungry, then I would recommend the set menus. Otherwise, go for your own choices. A very nice restaurant, very friendly. I would happily travel for a steak here and I'm not even that fond of bovine meat. I've had better food here and for better value than in many trendy eateries in Soho. The selection of starters is yummy; they don't change much, so you better get a favorite. The beer glazed pork belly and the black pearl scallops are my pick, in all of their different incarnations. The portions are fair sized and won't leave you too full too early. For the mains, I usually go for the rump steak or the ribeye. You have a choice of sauces, some great and some not so much; but the garlic butter is still the best. You also get amazing fries + a whole wedge of lettuce covered in blue cheese sauce and parmesan shavings. In the days when I'm really not into cow I go for the chicken with cheese and pancetta crumbs. Some orders (the steaks and the chicken, for example) will get you a slice of something called "onion loaf", basically a lump of caramelized onions fried in a bit of batter? Sounds odd, but if your choice of mains doesn't come with it then order it anyway. Trust me. After stuffing yourself with protein walk into the Epping forest surrounding the restaurant to burn some calories and breathe some fresh air... Just ignore the roundabout noise and enjoy. :)
