I made a reservation for 7:30pm for a party of 5. Two people arrived at 7:25, the rest by 7:30. At 9:28pm I went out and there was nobody in the front. I waited there about 3 minutes and finally someone came out and she said it's $105.50 & cash only for the karaoke. I go to the ATM to withdraw cash. It is now 9:35, I pay, she gives me change, then she says you're 10 minutes over so there's an additional fee. I said no ma'am I was out here at 9:28, nobody was here initially and I had to go get money to pay you. She said no, you started at 7:25, It is now 935 and so you owe for 10 more minutes. I asked how much is 10 More minutes and she said five dollars. I'm just confused why she didn't charge that amount to begin with and why she waited for me to get the money out of the ATM to change the price. In terms of food, everything tasted fine, but we asked for plates to share multiple times and didn't receive any, and when I went out and asked for plates for us to share they handed me two and then turned away (there were 5 people, all the food is family style). The restaurant itself is very nice looking with dim lights while eating. It's one of those place you can just walk in and get a table. That said, the food was alright. The food was authentic but everything tasted off. Some of the food tasted either lack a flavor you traditionally expect or taste like a bit too much fish sauce or MSG. The service was decent to go along with its theme. Sometime you get a nice sever and sometime you don't, which is nothing unusual. What's unusual is the restaurant is sometimes booked for a private event, yes the whole restaurant, without any signs or notices at the entrance. Several times my friends and I wanted to eat here only to find out the whole restaurant is booked. My fiancés fav food is soup, particularly Asian soups, so whenever it's his turn to pick where we eat there's got to be some type of soup on the menu. Nam's is my fav of the restaurants in his rotation because not only are their soups delish (my favs are the shredded chicken and beef soup) but their egg rolls are amazing (so crispy, even for delivery!) and they also have so many solid non soup items on their menu! I'll start by saying that I LOVE Nam's Noodles. Is it by far the best East-Asian cuisine you'll find, no. Does it have a highly eclectic menu so you can get pot stickers, general Tso's chicken, and pho, absolutely yes. All in all, Nam's is not the place you want to go if your looking for top tier East Asian food, but it's serves as am amazing hub for (what's to me) East Asian comfort food. It's where I go if I've had a stressful week, don't want to break the bank, and want a little of everything. The staff made our time here! We rented a private karaoke room with a group of friends. We placed our drink orders and immediately started making a playlist of all the hits from the karaoke machine. There is a separate binder with thousands of more songs... but they are all in Chinese :'oD The songs aren't the most current, but that's what was so great. Think R Kelly: Ignition (the remix, duh. what are you a monster?), Africa by Toto, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Beyonce *pre-Jay*. The best part is that you can order food while you're singing! The menu had everything from Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese. The pot stickers were the most popular among out group, but I really my FN3, i.e. Drunken Noodles. The bartenders and servers were the best part! Came it for dinner one night and it wasn't busy until after I sat down. Crowds seem to follow me wherever I go. ;) There was only one server and she seemed flustered. It was a while before I got my water. She kept apologizing to almost every table. They need to consider hiring an extra person to help. I ordered the pho that was a combination and I asked them to take out the tripe. It was a perfect amount of soup and noodles. Not a lot of meat even though it was the combination. The delivery is average, about 40-50 minutes and the food is great. Even for delivery, I can get a couple meals from just one order of Pad Thai which runs me about $12. It's one of the better places in Madison and I'm a loyal customer. Love the taste, love the location. read more

They have rich broths, healthy ingredients, and of course delicious noodles. Their other offerings are all great. Try something new! Service can be hit or miss. I want to give this place more than two stars because I love karaoke and noodles and wanted this to become a go-to spot for my friends and I. Unfortunately, after a poor first experience, we probably won't be coming back. It started off okay - we got to our booth no problem and ordered some food and drinks. The women working at the bar seemed overwhelmed and didn't know how to make a lemon drop when my friend asked for one so I'm not sure if they were entirely trained to be behind the bar. We ordered some beef chow fun and drunken noodles which took a while to get to us and were pretty mediocre in taste. But it's karaoke so I could have excused the meh food and the long wait times. But closing out our tab was a pretty ridiculous affair because apparently after 10pm, they only accept cash. There was no signage, no one came into our booth before 10 to let us know this and we had a pretty large group so not everyone had cash. On top of that, the ATM in the restaurant stopped working so my friend had to go to a place down the street to grab cash. I don't know why they have this cash only policy and I really don't know why they don't make that more clear but I think my friends and I will scope out some other places for karaoke in the future. read more

First of all, this place is an amalgamation of different Asian cuisines (Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, etc.), which initially made me suspicious. The waitress was very nice and our food came out very promptly. Unfortunately, I was just very disappointed in the food. Tried the pad thai as well as a pho dish here. Both were really disappointing. The pad thai flavor was extremely strong and tasted more tomato based than anything else. The pho was also extremely disappointing. It came with a tiny sauce bowl's worth of beansprouts, so I already knew it wasn't going to be authentic. The broth tasted like a lot of instant pho flavoring rather than a slow simmered soup. We placed a pickup order. The food was made fast and fresh. We got a pork banh mi, a chicken banh mi and spring rolls. The banh mi were good. The meat was great but the bread was more like an Italian sub type than a French type. So the consistency wasn't there. This is why I'm not giving them 5 stars. The spring rolls were very very bland. This is why I'm giving them 3 stars. You get 2 shrimp between both rolls for $5. We asked for no pork, so I wasn't expecting them to be full of protein, but for that price I would expect at least the average amount of shrimp. Also no mint or cilantro in them and the sauce was very heavy on the hoisin, not enough peanut flavor and no veggies or crushed peanuts on it either. Today was my first experience trying them, and what a terrible mistake, I drove 20 miles to try this place that someone recommended why did I even waste my time, all my chicken wings where raw and I mean like they were tiny wings so I have no clue how they can make that mistake, my spring rolls had only one layer skin which when you attempt to pick it up it broke all apart and also got stuck on the plastic wrap, next I order Thai iced tea with bubbles with an extra charge of .75 cent for only 5 bubbles , I have been to plenty of Thai restaurants amd I know good quality Thai food & this is definitely a waste of money & nowhere near what I am accustomed to especially coming for New York, they did state they will refund my chicken wings order that the kitchen was busy but to be honest that's no excuse, what if someone ate the raw chicken and got food poisoning ? The egg rolls were fresh and crispy, the noodles were perfect consistency and both the beef slices and the soup broth were delicious. Coming from the Bay Area and Socal, I think this place is decent and has a lot of potential. It's interesting that there would be karaoke rooms inside the restaurant, but I can't really complain about the hustle they are trying to capitalize on. However, it does seem off if some people are looking to have a nice quiet dinner while other people are singing their hearts out. It can be a polarizing issue to deal with. The service I received was decent and good enough to leave no good or bad impression on me. It just got the job done to get me my food. The food was not amazing, but I would have to say this not bad pho within Madison. I have had worst in Los Angeles where the flavors were completely off. This place gets the flavors right, but it can still be considered a little too salty. For me, I think I would come back once in a while, but this is not something I would rave about to my friends. read more

I have to admit I am quite a fan of Nam's Noodles, so a part of me hopes to bump up their star-rating by writing this review. I know, I know, they serve up dishes from so many different parts of Asia, I wouldn't know how to classify Nam's other than Asian Fusion, and they really live up to that name. I have been a regular since a couple of years back, where a co-worker and I would go every week before our night meetings for dinner. We have tried every item on the chef's recommendation list. They used to offer complimentary soup and dessert with every meal, I wish they still have that now. I remember the soup made for a great appetizer and till this day I still miss some of the desserts they make. I don't think any of that are on the regular menu so that's sad. On that what's good currently! They started with Belly Program, you get 5 points per visit, so it's pretty easy to get enough for a free beer or bubble tea (remember to let them know to reduce sugar levels you are not a huge fan of sweet drinks) using Belly Points. Nam's is another wonderful place on campus for noodles and congee. If you are looking for pho downtown, you can go to Nam's. If you're looking for Korean food downtown, you can go to Nam's. Nam's is a good place to go if you and your dining company are looking for different asian varieties. As for me I love their congee. It's only $5.50 for a huge bowl. Avocado bubble tea is also one of my favs! They make it using real avocado!! For appetizers I especially love the lemon grass chicken wings. Plus I like the fact that I get to just walk down on a day I have 1.5 - 2 hours to spare for a leisurely long lunch =) Do note that they get busy during lunch hours, but you can always call ahead if you're just getting something to go. read more

I like Nam's Noodles. They have solid food-never extraordinary, but never, ever disappointing- and the service is quick. Plus, they have bubble tea, and most Asian restaurants like this place don't! As it's name suggests, Nam's Noodle's best dishes are indeed Chinese noodles and Vietnamese pho. There's a good selection here and it is more expensive than most other Asian restaurants, but the food isn't bad. In my opinion, the clutch items on the menu at Nam's Noodle is the Vietnamese sandwiches. Although it's just okay here, I couldn't find this specialty anywhere else in Madison. In addition, I like that this place offers bubble tea (and a semi-full bar well). But even better is the fact that this place has karaoke rooms!! I've actually been a more frequent patron of their karaoke systems than their food. They've recently installed a new system and their software is actually constantly updated and pretty legit, offering the newest English, Chinese, and Korean songs. The owner is pretty nice too and on occasion has charged my friends and I less per hour when there are fewer customers. read more

I usually love Nam's noodles especially the pad see eiw. (F3). But despite my loyal patronage, I have to say that portions are getting increasingly small, with less and less seafood or meat. Today's portion covered scarcely half the plate. Also, they bring out plastic straws before you can say otherwise. Increasingly, I will not spend $15 per person on a main dish at a non-fancy restaurant and leave hungry. And I have a small-ish appetite. I hope Nam's will read this review and correct the plastic straw and small-portion issues--otherwise, I like them--and maybe they make their own noodles. Next time I will have to decide between one last chance or crossing town for better. read more

NO BEEF OR KIMCHI & NO CHICKEN IN THE CHICKEN FRIED RICE. also the spice level was wrong I said medium for both and no spice whatsoever. Crazy. So I called to see what we can do about this and the person on the phone said "we have been doing this for 8 years and measure out our rice". I said okay but this time it wasn't done correctly. And he said "well I'll policy is to just re make the food if the food was done wrong" I said okay! I would gladly take a remake of these dishes. Then after all that. Ordered takeout- potstickers and beef Pho. They had my order ready fast and were very friendly while I waited a few minutes, but the potstickers were not very good at all (I ate 2 and threw the rest away). I was soo excited for Pho since there is none in the town we live in, but was disappointed. It was ok, but the portion was really small and it only came with 5 very small pieces of meat, a small amount of noodles, and no sprouts or basil. Not enough to fill you up! I used to live next to a Pho place that gave you enough meat, noodles, sprouts and basil for 2 full meals when you ordered takeout. Pretty disappointed overall. read more

Best sesame chicken in madison, I ever had. Though I study nearby, never tried this place. I loved Ginger root's sesame chicken till the fortunate day I was forced to eat at Nam's. Their gravy had the perfect combination of sweet and sour taste. Chicken was cooked properly and was paired excellently with white rice and a roll. We racked up something like a $60 bar bill during an intense karaoke session without feeling so much as a buzz. Y'know what, Nam's? We got you back.
