This spot has been a few different things in the past few years: Link Gallery, Color 2 Gallery…read more(both places where I used to show), and now a fair-trade, slave-free store, Peace on Fifth. The owner is fun and knowledgeable and has great tastes in many things. Single-origin dark chocolates, raw and vegan goodies including food and cosmetic products, soaps made by Japanese Rastafarians (I know!), scarves and sarongs made from recycled saris, olive oils from the deserts of the middle east, wine perfumed candles, beautifully made glassware made from recycled glass, just to name a few. It's one of those places where you feel good shopping at, know where your things are made, and know that the workers were treated fairly and that the products were made without the use of any indentured servants or slaves (which unfortunately exists more often than we think). The best thing is that the prices are great! I am so used to going to such fair-trade, sustainable, eco/green stores in bigger cities such as Chicago and San Francisco and the prices being marked up too high, but at this place, I could actually afford things I liked without breaking the bank. She also participates in First Friday events and I think from what I remember, there will be wine tasting happening sometime soon.

She is always friendly, and can tell you about every piece of merchandise in her shop. I love the activated charcoal soap, the African black soap hand soap, the Rewined candles and all of the social justice issues books that she carries. The best part is that it is a fair trade shop. No slave labor!!!

The collection is large and interesting, and varied. Plus, they have many interactive areas for kids. They had several scavenger hunts, a play area downstairs, plus a craft area upstairs. Kid K loved it. Well, she was creeped out by some of the older European paintings. She seems to lean more to modern art. We spent a couple of hours and could easily have stayed longer. Staff were uniformly great, helpful and patient and friendly. Price is reasonable. Many cool sculptures outside. When we went they were preparing for a wedding, and this is a good place for something like that. Definitely will be back.
