The transmission in my Nissan Altima went out and I contacted Nance Transmission for assistance. They had my vehicle in the shop and started working on it within a 24 hour period. After driving it for months with no issues, I noticed a slight issue which I thought may have been due to an alignment or balancing but was informed that it could have actually been an issue with my transmission. Exceptional quality rebuild with attention to detail ! Unsure just why the impeller hub that turns the transmission pump broke off on the torque converter wrecking my wife's torque converter and pump on her 1999 Toyota Sienna! However, she did have 258k miles on it:))) ~ Contributing factors had to be her driving the grade on Cecil Ashburn Dr. with overdrive ON! And a synthetic fluid about 10k past recommended service interval. To Daryl Nance's credit he did state after getting in there to confirm the damage, "the rest of the unit was unhurt". Meaning, we could replace the torque converter and pump and place the van back in service. Of course, the risks are getting the pump pressures up to normal for daily in town driving again we could run into the weaknesses inherit in a transmission with this age. So, we opted for the complete rework! Never meeting Mr Nance before we did know he was a member in good standing either the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association OR ATRA since 2012 http://www.atra.com/shopfinder?ShopFinderLocation=35802 *** He also came recommended after a relative ask what we we're going to do with the van. We told them we thought of Nance Transmission. The next day our relatives co-worker had reported in unrelated conversation of her most recent great experiences there! (A nice coincidence but more than enough to confirm this is where we need to go if we are keeping this van.) Work flow was about a week out... so we got "in line" in this busy place! ***We wanted to place no pressure on them for turn around to allow time for a quality repair. One month later our vehicle is in service in great mechanical working order. The battery, air intake and all bolts and nuts for all mounting accessories were placed back just where they go! No sloppy rush to slam it in! Conclusion: If you come to Nance, you are dealing with a highly ethical, highly professional, extremely meticulous and skilled, second generation business - all run by a family that gets along with one another! All this is rare to find in the transmission business! A real gem! And they don't try to do it all... just transmissions! I called about my transmission shuddering, Katrina told me, "sounds like the torque converter, but we'll check it out". I scheduled the appointment, they were booked almost 3 weeks out. Took my car at my appointment time, dropped the keys off, was told I would know something by 10:30am. Mind you, i already knew what needed to be done and told them that when i dropped my car off. I didn't hear from anyone by about 2, so I called and was told that they didn't find anything wrong. I explained that you have to drive further than around the block. Asked them to drive it again, somewhere they can actually drive my car faster than 35-45 mph. I called again and was told still no shuddering and was advised that they could "service" the transmission, which was flushing, changing the filter and filling back up. That was $180. Got my car back and guess what, after about 10 minutes of driving my car on the parkway it started shuddering!!! I called back spoke with Katrina, again, she said she would get with Darryl, the mechanic who drove & did the work on my car, let him know and see what he says. Understand, I'm the one doing all of the calling, the only time they actually called me was after they'd "serviced" the transmission to let me know it was ready. So, I call back was told I'd get a call back, didn't, so I called back again. Well, needless to say they now want to charge me $1000 to do what I'd already told them needed to be done in the first place!!! I was referred to this company. My son's transmission was rebuilt there two months ago and went out again last week. The repairs were covered under his 90-day warranty but then he refused to start the warranty over with his new rebuild, which tells me he has no confidence in his work holding up this time either. Should it only last another two months, he's out almost $3000 for not even four months of a transmission holding up. I would recommend any customers look for another repair shop that will renew their warranty for any work during the warranty period. Otherwise, what is to keep them from using subpar parts knowing full well they will not hold up for very long? read more

Ok so..... I hate my friends who use yelp. I kinda hate myself for leaving this review. The only reason I am doing this is because Nance Transmission has gone so far above and beyond what anyone would expect out of a mechanic that I am going to choke down the bike and finish this. About 2 months ago I brought my car in to have the transmission rebuilt. In all fairness they were a little off on the "couple of days" quote they gave me. After we got our car back it drove great. Fast forward to a few days ago while about 3 hours South of Huntsville the car took a huge crap and quit running. It seemed like an obvious transmission issue. I called Nance and explained the problem. They not only sent a tow truck but also rented us a car to get back home. Come to find out it was NOT a transmission problem (hence not covered under warranty). We were expecting an outrageous bill. Not only did Mr Nance wave a BUNCH of the cost but he fixed the new problem same day. They have earned all my my automotive business and I will gladly sing their praise to anyone who will.listen. read more

i took my dodge ram to nance early in the summer, spent $1400, left my contact info for them to call me when it was done because i live an hour away. i never got any calls so after a month i decided to go there to see what was going on and i got there and he said he "rebuilt" the trans the first week or so it was there, so it was just sitting on the side for 3 weeks. he then told me that the pcm was the problem, so i said okay, get one and put it in and if it works, i'll pay you because it was under warranty. i waited another month, calling several times during that time period and they never answered but once. i went there AGAIN and he told me that i said i would get a pcm, which i never said. so i told him again to try to find one and put it in. 2 more months pass where nothing was done. the truck just sat on the side. it is almost december now and i got fed up with his service and just had my truck towed and got it worked on by a better shop. i would not recommend coming here. read more
