I too had a remarkable experience with Nancy just like the other 16 people here who had remarkable experiences with her to. (Everyone actually other than the 1 below. That person doesn't even get what Nancy charges right or that she doesn't even have a phone that rings in her treatment room.) Anyway, I was at my "lowest" point ever. I was very stubborn though and I refused to listen to any of my friends who encouraged me profusely to go see a therapist for my depression and anxiety. My daughter and I both went to see Nancy and we are delighted (as is my wife) with both the experience and the results. It was gratifying for me because Nancy is such a focused teacher and it was enjoyable and not threatening to learn from her. She lead me into understandings about myself that, having arrived, I wondered why it had taken me so long to get there and still do. What we discussed made a lot of sense. I'm responding to certain things in better ways. The programs and trance work she used with me were just what I needed to help me understand things more clearly, to make certain decisions and to take action. I must write to tell you how thoroughly pleased I am with the 3 sessions I had with Dr. Donenfeld. I feel that because of her and the sessions we had, I have lost 16 pounds and it doesn't feel as though it's all a struggle of force and deprivation anymore. She definitely helped me change my ability to make and manifest my decisions, which, in this case means to be the thinner person I now "know" I am and which I had no real faith in being before I met her. I'm still going down to the 25 pounds total that I plan to lose and keep off. I'm amazed this could happen in our 3 sessions and it's still sticking. My attitude seems so different now. I have been working with Nancy for about 6 months, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. I originally sought her services for help with anxiety and hot flashes I had been struggling with. I had tried everything and felt that my life was just never going to be the same again. After one session, I honestly can say that I felt completely different. I still sometimes have hot flashes (much much fewer than before), but it is as if my entire outlook on them has shifted to a place where they do not have the same effect on me. It really does feel almost like magic, thought it is not new-agey at all. Since then, she has helped me with all sorts of other issues. My entire experience with Nancy Donenfeld was certainly a memorable one. I came in for major control issues. I got to a point where I felt I had lost complete control of myself and my life. I was in really bad shape. Her expertise and delivery in the area of Psychotherapy has proven to be a valuable asset to me (and I'm sure to anyone with other issues). The session Nancy and I had was successful from the start. I've now lost 42 lbs. in six months and I still exercise 3 times a week. I'm at a good, healthy weight now for the first time in quite a few years. The things we discussed got me motivated and really had an impact on my life. I've worked with other hypnotists and a nutritionist before, to absolutely no avail after a very short time. Nancy is a kind soul that I felt comfortable with from the first hello. She is sweet and wise at the same time, and totally pays attention to what I say both out loud and between the lines and she responds directly. I also love just listening to her voice as well. Her office is like a cocoon, plush, totally silent (even though we're in NYC and also there's no phone in the room), and she has lots of plants. You distinctly get the feeling that she's a nurturer from the first encounter. Most importantly, she has incredible insight and my behavior and attitude has changed remarkably. She has helped me so much. She really has. I started noticing changes after my first session with her. There were a few things we were working on but mostly on building confidence, insight and inner comfort, not being so fearful, really knowing and being true to myself. First time i heard about hypnoses i said to myself : hmm interesting!! but I've always been afraid to go for it. I heard from my mom about someone that came to the US to see a hypnotherapist to quit smoking so I thought it was worth it to give it a shot. When I was introduced to Alisa, I was very skeptical and little bit afraid of where all this will take me. I used to smoke almost a pack a day, sometimes more....After 1 month therapy with her I quit smoking, and not only that but I learned so much about myself . One of the best experiences I ever had. Right from the minute I first called her, to my most recent appointment (I try to get an appt. whenever I come to town), Nancy has been sympathetic and attentive. She is kind hearted and I feel that she sincerely cares, carefully listening and responding specifically to what I'm saying. What she says has been empowering and right-on. Being up on the 30th floor, there is hardly a sound, even her telephone rings only in another room and with one barely audible ring only. Nancy is just the best. She is uplifting, kind, caring, insightful and wonderfully brilliant. happen to be a black woman and it was so refreshing to be in the presence of someone so forward-thinking and compassionate. I felt totally accepted and safe with her and I highly recommend her. I had a problem with overeating and not sleeping decently and after only 2 sessions, I now understand the roots of my problem with overeating, stopped eating much sugar and other simple carbs, am not overeating anymore (miraculously), am getting to sleep much much faster and actually staying asleep except for getting up to go to the bathroom once a night (as is natural for me and I want). Well here's an update to my other review of my therapy/hypnosis with Nancy. I still haven't taken any pain meds and I'm still alive and my cancer is supposedly still in "remission". I did everything my oncologist told me to do except take the pain meds because I didn't need them (I feel because of Nancy) and the pain never returned since her either. My father died 3 weeks ago and let me tell you, I almost had a cigarette again. Nancy stopped me from smoking in 1 session. I went over in my head what Nancy taught me and I didn't have even one cig and I still haven't. I listened to the old recording Nancy made for me (which I hadn't done since she made it for me and it did the job). Now I'm more convinced than ever that I'm a nonsmoker. My hypnotherapy sessions with Nancy Donenfeld have been one of the best investments I have made in myself in all my 37 years. I have been through countless diet programs, seen nutritionist, started exercise regimens...but all to no avail. I have been a compulsive eater all my life and it was time for that to stop. I finally feel that I have control of my eating habits since having seen Nancy. I've been on countless "diets" and finally I'm just doing what actually works - on my own - by keeping in mind (both the conscious and sub-conscious) what Nancy has taught me... a totally new approach!! Over 20 years ago I went to see Nancy to get help for my pack a day smoking addiction. While walking to her office I bought a pack of Newports and smoked a cigarette! Less than an hour and a half later I was an ex-smoker!! I don't know how she does it but she is quite effective. I threw out the rest of the pack and never even had an urge to smoke ever again. It was amazing. I have used her therapy for other self-improvement issues and she never disappoints.
