While the MDs & RNs here are all quite nice, I have a real problem with the fact that it's next to impossible to reach someone here on the phone. You have to go thru a main number. The other day I called several times, listened thru the automated message & then each time sat on hold for quite some time before being disconnected! The following day I tried again at 4:30. And the message said they were not taking calls, that the "on call" team was covering. I thought this weird since their closing time is listed at 5:30, 7:30 & 9:30 pm- depending on the day. Finally, the next day I found a number for one of the nurses there & was able to leave a voicemail. I received a call back today. When I relayed the extreme difficulty I had trying to reschedule an appt to this support staff/scheduler I received a chuckle & was matter of factly told it was normal that no one answers the phones after 4:20 pm since that is when they stop taking calls & refer everything to the "on-call" team. This was news to us!
Then why bother listing their "open" hours as being a full hour past that time, 2 hours past that time & 5 hours past that time-- depending on the day?
So in summary, the telephone triage system is VERY inconvenient to navigate, and usually results in long wait times and disconnects/hang ups. And patients should know that they stop answering the phones for non-emergencies at 4:30- regardless of their posted hours. read more
