This was our group's first time here. We came in and were greeted by very friendly staff. We asked about the special for today and it was meatloaf, 2 veggies and bread. He said the meatloaf was so good it would make a puppy pull a freight train. Lol. He wasn't our server but we ordered the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and mixed greens to split. Out friends ordered the 2 grilled chicken filets, Mac n cheese and pinto beans. Our server was very apologetic about the items they were out of- which was a pretty long list. In this day and time that is not uncommon so we were patient about the situation. We told the guy who told us the dog story that we wanted to see the dog because we ordered the meatloaf. He said "I'm not lying. A guy got some on his forehead and his tongue kept slapping his face." Lol. The food came and it was indeed delicious. We never did see that dog though. I didn't take pics of our friends' plate but they said it was really good. The server was new but very good. The food came out quickly. It was all delicious. Delicious! Just like mammaw just to make. Chicken tenders are better than any chain restaurant around as is their ranch. The chef salad is enormous. If you get there early enough try the cornbread salad. So good and the staff is very friendly. read more

We went just at the end of the lunch hour. You seat yourself, so I could see getting lost if they were busy. Since there were only four other people there, we were noticed right away and told to sit wherever we wanted. The booths are well worn but clean. Our server told us they had two specials, a chicken casserole and pork chops. I decided on the casserole with cornbread salad and macaroni salad as the sides. It also comes with cornbread or a biscuit. I chose the cornbread. My dining partner ordered a grilled chicken salad. The food took about 15 minutes to get to the table. The chicken casserole had shredded chicken which was tender and moist. The dressing on top was also moist. The sauce was sort of a gravy consistency with a cheese flavor. Although it was served warm, not hot, the taste was good. I would order it again. The macaroni salad was nothing special. The corn bread salad was very creamy. It had decent flavor. The piece of corn bread was somewhat over done and very dry. It didn't have a lot of corn flavor. My dining partner enjoyed the grilled chicken salad. The grilled chicken was very moist and flavorful. There was also a lot on the salad. Everything else in the salad was fine. There are a lot of regulars, and the staff seemed to know most everyone. We did see one couple who came in and sat in the back who were not noticed for at least 10 minutes. They were regulars too and were not upset. It's something to keep in mind as you decide where to sit. read more

Good country cooking with a down home feel. People are always nice and everthing is great!

We stopped in for the first time a few days ago. My husband & I both ordered hamburgers. The meat patty looked like it was handmade & it was a good size. The hamburger was very tasty & the price was great. Our waitress was fantastic! Great service & excellent attitude! She didn't make us feel like she resented her job. She made us feel like she loved what she was doing. In fact all the employees were great. We got half way home & realized we forgot to tip our wonderful waitress. Normally we would have just gone back next time we were in town, but she was so sweet & so hard working, that we turned around & went back. I didn't see her when I ran inside, but the other waitress said she would give her our tip. Good food & wonderful service! read more

As far as places to eat in our town Nanny's is one of my favorites. Their meals range from $8.99-9.99 for entree, 2 Sides & Bread.. The chicken breast is really good, they have the best Mac & Cheese!! They have the best mixed greens, cornbread salad!! My husband loves their Cheeseburgers!! Then Fried shrimp isn't good at all though. It's frozen bad shrimp so we learned our lesson there. I'm It's a small family owned business. I use to see Kim run it all the time but I haven't seen her in forever. I work during the day thou and only come in at night so I'm sure she works days. I think poor Reggie is stressed. He's hit or miss on friendliness. I don't take it personal when he's in a bad mood tho. They have ran that place for awhile now. I'm sure they both are tired. It's not easy and the people in this town aren't the greatest.. Also working in the food industry is one of the hardest. Hard work & stupid people. You have those that look down on you. Anyway give them a chance. They have been in our town for a long time and served Elizabethton well. They are good people. Good comfort food, good prices!! read more

The food is what you would expect of country cooking. Nothing all that special. It is located in a very old Kentucky Fried Chicken building. When you walk in, you smell old. With that said, anyone who has read my reviews know that I am not a big fan of religion and businesses combined. My last visit, I brought with me two people who had never been there before. Business associates. A young male waiter came up to us and instead of asking us what we would like to order. We had to hear a sermon about how he had Jesus in his heart and how blessed he was. He said this a couple more times to other customers while checking them out. It was as if he was brain washed or had sinned so bad the night before and was waiting for the lightning rod to strike. Seemed like someone who could easily be radicalized. I am there to eat not go to church! They also play christian music and have a shelf dedicated to christian flyers, pamphlets and free cassettes of gospel music. They are closed on the weekends. read more
