Tennessee Trinity: Brisket Burnt ends Smoked half chicken Baked beans Sweet potato soufflé Tater tots

Me and six other people with the Konnarock volunteer trail crew had just finished a week on the Appalachian trail working on a relocation project so we were very hungry. Our server, Ziggy, was absolutely amazing and took excellent care of us. Ziggy gave us recommendations on what to order and ensured that we had everything we needed. The food was amazing and the portions were plenty. Will definitely come back to the Southern Craft! Ask for Ziggy!

We ordered the Tennessee Trinity with pulled pork, ribs, and brisket. The brisket was quite fatty, the pulled pork lacked flavor, and the ribs were tough and didn't seem properly smoked--they weren't tender or "fall off the bone" as expected. The food also needed a lot of barbecue sauce to add flavor; the sweet sauce was good, but the mild sauce was very vinegar-forward and not very enjoyable. My mom ordered the coleslaw and didn't care for it. I had the grits, which were just okay, and my daughter got the beans, which she described as having a "wannabe steak" flavor with a strong liquid smoke taste.

We ordered the Tennessee Trinity with smoked chicken, ribs, and chopped brisket. Our appetizers were the Pulled Pork tater tots with burnt ends, and the Fried House Pickles. The meat was all top notch, I think the chicken was next level. We were seated quickly and the waitress was quick to take care of everything we needed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior was open and attractive, music was at a level appropriate for conversation without making it difficult.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My wife got a Southern Lady drink, she liked it, it was sweet but not too sweet, she would get it again. I had the Appalachian Highlands Chocolate Stout, which was rich and very good, I also tried the Thunder Pig IPA setting at 90 IBU. It was very good for those who love a beer that bites back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My only real critique is that it was 28 degrees outside when we were there, and there was a strong draft when the doors were opened.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

2 meat BBQ Combo. Pork belly and turkey

I was in the Johnson City area and looking adore some good cue for lunch. This place had good reviews and looked cool so here I am! Generally I prefer a good hole in the wall spot for my BBQ. But this fancier place hit the spot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I sat at the bar, it was really busy for a weekday at lunch, that's usually a good sign![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I went non traditional and got the smoked pork belly and turkey. The pork belly was delicious! The turkey was sliced very thin. It had good flavor but lost a little moisture because f the cut. I got fried okra and slaw also. Both weee very tasty. Overall a great restaurant. They had an amazing bar with a healthy bourbon selection. I wish I could have tried some out! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good service in a cool ambience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We stopped in on a Sat evening at around 6 o'clock. I made a reservation online. We had a party of 4. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. I liked the vibe of the restaurant. The fried pickle App with chipotle ranch was very good. I had the fried chicken sandwich with a side of coleslaw. It was a BIG piece of chicken on a pretzel roll. I wish it was spicier but it was a good meal for me. Hubby had the fried catfish. He said it was heavy on the breading. I was come again and try the traditional pork BBQ.

Awesome service & food! Really impressed w/ Southern Craft. The fried pickles were some of the best we've had and the fried chicken sandwich + brisket sandwich were both so good - we had so many leftovers bc it was so much food. Our waiter was really friendly and helpful - gave us suggestions & chatted with us about our trip. 5/5!

Such a great place to come with so many sauces to choose from! The white sauce is refrigerated in the back so you can ask a server to bring it with your food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience is great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]A wonderful place to meet[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Not a fan. I wanted to like this place so bad but I gave it a third wind and they were out of brisket and ribs so I was forced to order items I did not want that were way different than I was described and the desserts were pretty good but service hasn't been of quality the times I've visited. [[HIGHLIGHT]]2 stars because the atmosphere is cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Pork belly with tots and sweet potato soufflé (highly recommend)

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Delicious food. Excellent service. Overall, an enjoyable midday lunch option as we took a break from running errands. Can't say anything ill or constructive about this outing. Upon entering to our departure, everyone greeted us or thanked us for coming in. We left happy, laughing, and full even with food in tow.

For lunch we stopped by Southern Craft BBQ, (@socrajc) a regional chain with four locations in NE TN and SW VA. I got the Killer B sandwich. It's smoked brisket on a toasted bun topped with Stoney Creek BBQ sauce, blackberry jam, black pepper bacon. It was a tasty sandwich, but the brisket was dry. Thankfully there were squeeze bottles of BBQ sauce on the table. The blackberry jam was a nice sweet contrast to the brisket and pepper bacon, but it wasn't quite enough to overcome the tough brisket. Mah Wife got the North Carolina Catfish. It's a whole deep-fried catfish served with two sides. She chose the collard greens and sweet potato soufflé. It was a good fish and I enjoyed the collards. The restaurant itself was comfy and they do have their own in-house brewery, if you're into craft beers. Overall, a decent visit, but I'd probably try some other meats and skip the brisket.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]wow! the setting, the menu, the selection and the drink specials all together provide a memorable dining experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] if you like bbq this is you place. we tried the fried green tomatoes and fried pickles. lots of dipping sauces and ample portions. we all tried something different items. if you like hand made local sausage that's spicy. this is your place. they have four of their own sauces in big squeeze bottle at table. hard to be beat a craft brewed local beer 22 oz for $6. sorry i didnt take pictures. I can't say enough about waitstaff. ours was Abe. from start to finish often he was there to provide refills, napkins sauces if we needed them. when. Mouth watering dishes!! Loved their meat plates as a shareable meal. Everything was delicious including their simple mac and cheese. There was a large gathering that was finishing up and it looked like a great place to feed a large group. Wish I had a few more for the Butchers Block.

However, our most recent visit was just my hubbie and me for dinner before Father's Day. The fried chicken was wonderful as usual (although our server said they were running out and tried to get us to switch to ribs, but then the chicken showed up 60 secs later) but DO NOT order the grilled pork chops (they were super thin and super salty). The sides (cornbread salad, corn casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac n cheese) were consistently good as always. And the new eclair cake dessert was super yummy.

Our group decided on the fried chicken and the steak and gravy. I had asked if half of our group (12 people) can pick 2 meats and the other half 2 other so we can all try stuff. They said the only way we could do that was to pay $7 extra per person, thats ridiculous. Do NOT get the "steak and gravy".... literally nothing steak about it. It was disgusting it was like a mushy tasteless meatloaf style creation. We got the carrot soufflés which is seasonal and that was delicious. The ground itself is beautiful. We were told to walk around the ground and that we could walk in the buildings but they were all closed up. Also.. they do NOT let you take leftovers home.. such a Waste.
