OK, Mayflower seafood restaurant was an awesome find! We were just coming into town, and looking for something to eat for lunch when we noticed that they had fried clams, my wife's favorite! They happily greeted and seated us as soon as we came in the door. The ambience was clean and inviting and the tables were spaced, just right so you're not sitting on top of your neighbor, but what really got us was the food oh my gosh, it was amazing.! Those were some of the best fried clams, shrimp and mushrooms we've had in a long time. I don't often give five stars but Mayflower did a fantastic job. You have to give them a try. read more

Received 1 piece of Alaskan white fish with my combo (should have been two pieces). The meat was very thin and the skin was black on one side. Waitress brought a second piece which was the same. Still the same: reasonable prices for fairly large plates of fried or broiled seafood. During our last visit I had some broiled baby shrimp with Cajun seasoning, along with a baked sweet potato and a salad. While I wish they had a vinaigrette dressing available, I settled with oil and vinegar, and everything else was just fine. Service is timely, and our waitress was sociable and funny to boot. The decor is not very modern, but if you don't mind the look of an 80s-era seafood restaurant you'll be fine. They offer a small discount for veterans, by the way. This was my first time going. I ordered the crab legs. When they came out they were steaming but that was just the legs on top. The ones underneath were very cold. Some had spots on them that I was told by the seafood department at a Kroger were actually virus spots. Didn't really enjoy them. Told the waitress about them being so cold and she said she would maybe do something about that but then she never said anything else about it. Don't think it was worth the money I paid. First time dining here this evening. Dining room has a cozy diner feel. Before being seated, I asked both hostesses what their favorite dishes at Mayflower were, to which both replied they don't eat there. Our waitress was friendly. NE Clam Chowder is decent. Oyster stew was a big dud. Waitress advised us not to try it and that she's never had a customer order it and actually like the stew. She was right but took the stew off our check no issues. My wife and I shared the broiled Mayflower Special. Portions are huge. We left full and satisfied. We were going to order dessert but again, our waitress didn't recommend. She was knowledgeable and very attentive. She steered us right throughout the evening. She got us drinks to go. We would probably go back. Not sure. Food was good (3.5)... service was poor (1) ! It seemed that the waitress's were either very good or very bad....we got a bad one. As I watched the other waitresses work hard at their job, mine was too worried about socializing with other workers or just in a zombie state. I watched as the busboy struggled to clean off tables will dropping things and making a bigger messes...lol. The staff was either very motivated or not motivated at all.....so, it's luck of the draw as to where you are seated and which staff you get, but you shouldn't have to "chance it" going out to a restaurant..... Went to Mayflower on Sunday for lunch around 12 noon. Wasn't crowded and no wait. I ordered the senior white fish which is normally 2 pieces. Partner ordered clam strips and shrimp. When my order arrived there were 5 pieces of fish which I thought was odd. I began to eat or should I say try to eat and honestly between those 5 pieces of fish, only one fish was edible, the rest were purely breeding. The clam strips were the same. Server was great and very attentive so no complaints there but food was not good at all. Get up to check out and have them my debit card, declined!! Gave them another one declined, luckily I had cash to pay . Nothing wrong with my cards according to my bank it was a merchant issue. Several people in front of me had the same issue. We met Mandy in the laundromat today. She told us that she worked here and LOVED her job. She brought us a menu from her car and said we should come see her when she was working. So we did and we were not disappointed. We ordered raw oysters and fried pickles as appetizers. We both ordered them Captain Smith platter. It had flounder, oysters, scallops, deviled crab and a ton of popcorn shrimp, plus hush puppies, coleslaw and an additional side. NOW we know why she suggested we share just one platter. This place doesn't play around! Heaps of food, served hot. We ordered 6 dinners for pick-up. Piping hot and ready on time. My first try and we ordered the fried shrimp. .. hit the spot. Everything was fried, but that was our ordering - you can get it prepared differently. Broccoli was actually really tasty. Family members warned us that the portions were large. That is an understatement. They are HUGE. This is a great deal for your money. Only complaint is.. the dinner was packed in to-go trays and hot. So by the time we got it home to eat, the cole slaw in the container was also hot.. and hot cole slaw is pretty gross. Maybe they would pack it separately if you asked. Otherwise, this place rocks and I will definitely eat there again when in town visiting! I recall the prices were in line with the portions - I don't think you will need to spend more than 10-15 per person. Side salads were generous, too. They were generous with the tarter sauce also. My husband and I ate here this afternoon. Very Disappointed. Ordered create your own platter with three items---- ordered flounder jumbo shrimp and oysters had to add two dollars for oysters. I thought was a little much. For the price thought we would get two pieces of flounder only got one very thin piece. Shrimp were under cooked. French fries were terrible also ordered corn on the cob which was $1.99 for half a ear of corn ridiculous. This restaurant just re-opened and is already dirty. Ladies restroom dirty and smelled. My husband said that the men's restroom was in the same condition. Restaurant looked like it needed to be vacuumed and the waitresses some of their shirts look like they hadn't been washed. Went on a Friday afternoon around 5. There were 3 of us. Service was excellent. The waitress was friendly and helpful and came back to check on us several times. Food comes out quickly. We ordered two different platters. The food was delicious--fresh and flavorful. The cole slaw was very tasty, and I will be trying to replicate it soon. :) Unless you are starving, I'd recommend getting a one- or two-item platter. They bring A LOT of food on the plate. They have a senior menu with smaller portions if you happen to have a senior in your party. Totally recommend. Good food for an excellent price. I ordered the clam chowder and the Mayflower Special with French fries. My guest ordered oyster stew and the Mayflower special. Shortly our soups arrived. Very delicious! My chowder tasted the best I have had in a long time. My guest said that his oyster stew was the best he has had. Then came out mayflower special plates. Piled high with more food than either of us could ever eat! This will be eat on as leftovers for days. Glad to see the Mayflower open again. The food is as good as ever. This is not that good of a restuarant, I waited 30 minutes for my drink to be refilled and my waitress was standing right next to my table and didnt do anything. I didnt get my food until I asked someone about my food and drink, my waitress tried to make up excuses. This was an all around terrible experience. read more

I've eaten here so many times and it just keeps getting better there menus is huge and even if you don't like seafood they have other things like steak and spaghetti and other things like that I strongly recommend the salad it is to die for very fresh and all of there food is fresh and there not expensive at all it's about 20 dollars for two people so the next time your win town Try it you'll like it read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time and we were very disappointed. Shrimp, oysters, and scallops were over -cooked. Clam strips were near cold and very tough like they had been cooked an hour before being served. Their cocktail sauce is their creation and is terrible-like salsa. Went to the restaurant on a Saturday, January 4, 2020.Service was excellent. Food was great. Paid for my meal and added a tip. Amount for the meal was immediately deducted from my account, but not the tip. Two days later on January 6, my account was charged again plus the tip. Instead of just adding on the tip they charged my account twice for my meal and one charge for the tip. contacted my bank and they told me to get in touch with the restaurant to remove the extra charge. My family and I went to the Mayflower on August 14th 2021. We was seated and our server's name was Bobbi. Everything was going good at first got our drinks and placed our order. We waited on our food for a while and asked the server to check on our order.She was very rude and annoyed we asked what was taking so long. I had the broiled baby shrimp, it was undercooked. My boyfriend had the broiled sailors platter. The cod was very dry, the scallops were undercooked, and the deviled crab had zero crab in it. It was all breading which was bland and soggy. We will never go back. read more

We had anticipated the opening of the Mayflower and were happily encouraged by the masses of cars and lines of customers forming even before the doors were opened for business! We made our visit after we felt the restaurant had pushed past the usual opening hiccups. We stopped in for a late lunch and decided to share a sampler dish and fried pickles. Sampler had clam strips, scallops, shrimp, oysters and fillet of fish. In what we had anticipated to be a veritable FEAST of fish turned out to be a complete and utter disaster. The FIRST time the dish was served it WAS piled high however everything was cold and undercooked. Our server was accommodating and took the dish back to have it cooked more. SECOND time was just a warmer still undercooked version. THIRD time the ever undercooked fish was still inedible. Scallops were rubbery, clams were so over cooked they "shattered" when bitten, the oysters...well you get the idea. (Even the side of green beans couldn't get served hot,) The restaurant itself smelled faintly of old fryolater oil and the banquets were sticky. We paid our tab and left never to return. What a disappointment considering this area is in need of a good seafood restaurant. read more

Restaurant and bathrooms are clean, service is prompt and friendly. Food portions are HUGE and mostly fresh. Sometimes I will get fried shrimp or clam strips that have sat a few minutes. They are warm enough to eat but not as good as when they bring them to me fresh. Baked potatoes are never good. They taste like left over baked potatoes. I think they either bake them the day before and warm them up or perhaps they are baking them extremely early in the morning and then they sit for several hours before they are served. Hush puppies are not good. They are never fresh and they are sweet. I understand that sweet vs. not sweet is a personal preference but they should be hot when served. I never eat the hush puppies and I never eat the coleslaw because I just don't care for either one and I always have food left over because the seafood portions are so big. I will return but I would love to see the restaurant have not sweet hush puppies and serve fresh baked potatoes. read more

I'd give no stars if possible. I would like to start by saying I worked in this place for 2 days and walked out. I was that disgusted with the people that work there. They are unprofessional. Will play nice to their customers faces for a nice little tip, and them bad mouth them the second they walk out the door. I have listened to them brag multiple times about "making people quit by being so mean." My last straw was them making fun of an elderly, disabled man. I'm sorry for the customers that go here and don't realize their kindness act, is a lie. They also tried to hold my check from me. When I threatened to report them to the BBB, the manager (Sara) was quick to message another woman who was an ex cashier, and was a friend. She told her to tell me to come back, they'd get the money from the drawer. I was given $26.00, which was wrong. I was supposed to have gotten at the least, $40.00. When I came back to get it, I stood behind the wall in the door for a minute and listened to the manager (Sara) and one of the younger girls (Bridgette), laugh at me, mock me, and make fun of me. As I was rounding the corner the younger girl says "So where is she even at, tell her to come the f on." Was very rudely handed my money. Staff appear unhappy. Getting back to how it was originally before it closed last time. I really had high hopes (at first). Now, not so sure it is going to make it. The owner has a really rude and arrogant plaque hanging on the wall right before you walk out the door (read it if you get a chance, he doesn't impress me). I will say the food is great, however, last night I went to order the senior platter as i always have in the past (because it is smaller portion and i do portion control). I usually order the choose 2 and get it broiled and costs about $9 or $10 cant remember. Anyway, i was told last night that the wait staff are getting in trouble because they let people order off the senior menu when they are not seniors. I asked where the age is listed on the menu (its not). So instead of spending close to $10 i ordered soup for $3 (so the company lost $7 of my spending). I was told i could split a meal..???....my husband spends about 14 for a meal i usually spend 9 or 10 a meal which is close to 20ish for our meal. So if now we get to split a meal we pay about 7 each. yeah, that is saving the company money. This is a dumb rule, and i would strongly encourage the company to have an option for smaller portions. While i would like to stay in my local area, i will plan to start going back to Harbor House where they do allow you to order smaller portions. read more
