I had gotten highlights the day before, and they came out decently, but I had so much spotting from the bleach and so many parts that were done wrong. It was a treat to myself for Christmas and cost quite a bit for my paycheck, and I was so upset I had spent so much at another salon for work I wasn't satisfied with. I called Nanshua the day after, but no answer. I left a simple voicemail, letting her know I got highlights and needed a fix within my budget, and hung up. Not too long after, she called me back and let me know that it was an easy fix and all it needed was a toner. She let me know I could come in now, and I drove straight there. When I arrived, she already had someone in her chair, but she got to me so quickly. Shortly after, another woman came in for her relaxer. She managed all of us SO quickly and efficiently, even when she had somewhere to be relatively soon. She was kind and informed me of everything she was doing for my hair to fix it up. Her assistant washed me off and gave me a nice head massage, haha. Overall, Nanshua was helpful, kind, and efficient. I didn't stay to get my hair dried because I was on a budget, but I paid $50, and I LOVE how my hair came out. I've attached photos to show the magic she performed on my hair. I got a Groupon for a balayage and haircut. It was my first time with her. I've had bad experiences with other hair stylists. She knows what she is doing. I actually wanted to go ash blonde but she told me because I had so much warmth in my hair it will not come out as light as I expect it in a one time visit. But the end result was amazing. This is my second review for nanshua. I started going to get over the years ago and my hair was in terrible shape. She gave me extending while we worked on getting my hair back to normal she gave me different shampoo and conditioner keratin my hair and my natural hair has never been better.. this review is for my bialagye. I have never received so many compliments on my hair wherever I go peyote comment on my gorgeous hair. You need to listen to nanshua she knows how to make your look gorgeous. You know a business is good when they brought you back from your Yelp hiatus just to write them a review. Let me tell you a bit about Nanshua. After 6+ years of going to the the same "luxury" salon and enduring mediocre haircuts for exuberant prices, I said no more and brought myself to Yelp and found Nanshua's Beauty Bar. Nanshua brought me back to feeling comfortable with having someone cut my hair again. (Yes, I was traumatized by a really bad haircut pre-Nanshua.) I am not looking back. Going to her to get your haircut makes you feel GOOD. I don't only mean the "frick yea I am supporting a female entrepreneur" good but ALSO the "frick yea she knows what she is actually doing and I don't have to worry about looking like an idiot when I walk out of here good." Nanshua listen to what you want. She is constantly asking questions about your preferences so that you are never blindsided by what the ending result will be. She keeps you in the loop and uses the most AMAZING smelling hair products. She's also just a sweetheart. I hate talking to my stylists during my hair appointments but this was not the case with her. She was easy to talk to and a dream! Thank you Nanshua for treating me like a queen! I loved my experience so much that I am bringing my cousin to get her hair done by Nanshua in a few weeks. Loved every bit of it! What you see is my first shampoo post my first silk press visit with @nanshua27. She gave me some pointers on my wash and go process and now somehow....they are magically better than I've seen them in a LONG time. So glad I found the #naturalhair guru right in Kew Gardens/Oceanview LI. And it was a complete whim! I was really nervous to do bayalage since I never colored my hair, I went to her and showed her some ideas of what I like.. she did an AMAZING job on my color as well as gave me a gorgeous blow out. I would just like to say that I made a mistake in my initial review. My friend was not charged $100, she was charged *****$90***** so Nanshua can check her detailed IPad records and see that is indeed true since she and and another reviewer tried to say that this did not happen. I did not write this review to be vindictive, I wrote it so that other people with long hair can know what to expect. My friend was not told of this price hike until after everything was done. If it takes so long to blow out her hair and its such a hassle, then say so before hand and she would have told you that you didn't have to do the blow out. My friend was told by Nanshua that everyone gets charged $30 for toner and because her hair was long, she had to pay $50. So she paid a difference for having long hair and then another $40 was added to her bill. Don't act like people with long hair are being unreasonable. Write it in the Groupon and discuss this price difference beforehand. read more

Wow This girl was extremely unprofessional. She was an hour late to my appointment, she came with her toddler daughter, she was on her cell phone the whole time cursing with friends and she did not even blend the highlights. I am stuck with a line now of two different colors. Also, at the end of the appointment she added on extra made up fees for a toner and long hair which I was never previously told about. Crazy. I will never use her again and definitely suggest you find someone else to use! What a shame. read more
