Call me crazy but I don't feel like I should be paying $70 for a service that doesn't include detangling my hair, especially at a black owned salon. The stylist shampooed my hair and then set me under the dryer with a treatment. Then she brought me back to the sink where she washed the treatment out. Never did she wants to try to detangling my hair. Finally I sat in a chair, where she practically rip my hair out, trying to force the blow dry with a tooth attachment through my hair. She the told me that my hair was dry and my ends were in bad shape because the blow dryer was having a hard time going through my hair. I couldn't help but think it was probably because she never detangled it. When it was time for the cut she showed me the so-called damage that needed to be cut. She never asked how much I wanted cut. She just started scissoring away at my hair. I don't really care about cutting my hair off especially if it's damaged, but I do expect some sort of thorough consultation and discussion as to what I should do. She only cut the perimeter of my head. She didn't actually pick my hair up and trim through it. Then she put vitamin E oil in my hair , tossed it in a bun, and sent me on my way. It took everything in me to tip her. I will not be returning. I expect so much more from my own people, and it is a shame that I can't find a proper hair salon for us m, by us that will properly care for my natural hair. I've been growing my hair on my own and if things don't change I'll continue to do so or just chop it all off. We deserve better.
