My best friend has been going to Allison at Salon Luna on and off for 10 years. Somehow, I had no idea the salon was in Bellmore until I moved there and she told me I should go check it out. And that I did. I made an appointment about a week in advance with Allison. Upon arriving at the salon, my hair was examined by Allison herself followed by a hair-washing by Jamie. The wash was accompanied with a very soothing massage. Allison proceeded to cut and blow-dry my hair. She did a wonderful job and spent a lot of time perfecting my hair. She listened to my requests but made some suggestions of her own. Jamie finished off my hair ironing (which is a very long process so I appreciate that they were both very attentive with my hair). This is an edit to my previous review. Jackie fixed my haircut and did a beautiful job. I appreciated the time she took during my consultation to understand what the issue was, and listening to how we I wanted to fix it as well as making some suggestions. She did a great job blending the jump in the front of my hair with the rest of my hair by adding and shaping my layers. She made me feel extremely comfortable even though she was revising my cut. I would come back to see Jackie. First time here, it seemed great, got great reviews, some of my clients recommended them; they're right around the block from my job and were able to fit me in last minute for a cut. I left with a huge hole in my hair. My stylist kinda picked through the back of my hair really quick (not really looking at what I already had cut and layer wise) and sent me to the sink. I told her I wanted to keep it long, that I think the front of my hair is really thin and she said "yea whatever you want". I came to the chair and told her my goals were the style and length she had and she started cutting. She had me feel the back before cutting the front and the length felt good. Then she cut the left front side and I caught a glimpse in the mirror and now my entire front section was a bang because she had tried to cut an angle in the front and since I had choppy layers (which again she never looked at the front of my hair) throughout that entire front section was now the same length. Same thing with the right just not as bad because I part my hair away from that side. At the end when she was blowing me out I think she realized what she did because she kept on trying to camouflage it by blowing everything forward (which I never will where my hair that way). At the end when she was recapping what she did I asked if she was going to clean up my layers (because I think after cutting the perimeter and seeing what she did panicked and focused on the blowout) and she said she did. Which again every other haircut I've gotten even if I'm wet they pull the hair out to see what the layers look like and she never did that before cutting or while cutting. And then pointed out I "needed to let the front grow" and I said "because they're a huge step". She said yea it must be from the breakage from me pulling my hair back and I said "or the fact that I had choppy layers" and she said "yea or that, no one will notice besides me" and I said "I did" and thanked her paid and left. Now I've also noticed after my mother so kindly pointed out that the front sides aren't even even.There's really nothing I can do because obviously you can't glue hair back on, I'm just annoyed 1)because the obvious hole in my hair, 2) if she had taken two extra minutes to look at my hair it would have turned out better read more

Went to Salon Luna last week and absolutely loved it! I am so picky and anxious when it comes to having my hair done but after reading other yelp reviews I decided to give SL a try. I used Angela who was beyond knowledgable-she had an awesome personality and made you feel at ease. I had "ombre" which really just looked like 8 inch roots and extremely heavy highlights on the bottom. I never thought I would be able to have my root area match the bottom but she did it! Extremely dissatisfied with everything at this salon. I have dark brown hair and wanted ombre (of which i have done many times before). The girl who did my hair was sweet- but obviously did not know what she was doing because after leaving and further examining it, i realized that it looked like she just dip dyed the ends of my hair in bleach for extremely too long. Not only was it terribly done and not blended- it also left my hair fried and course. I was shocked at what had happened & extremely embarrassed. Wanting to fix the issue without having to return to the salon that completely botched my hair- i called to see what they could do. I was insanely dissatisfied with the customer service and support, especially how the managers treated me when inquiring about what they can do to fix the terrible ombre that was done to my hair. After waiting all day to speak to someone- and hiding my terrible hair with headbands and hair wraps for a week- i was told that my choices were to "get over it" or "hang up the phone". Shortly after i was hung up on and told that the manager "didnt have time for me" because she had someone else's hair to RUIN! Terrible experience. Terrible Customer Service. I came here for hair and makeup prior to attending a family wedding. I was there with 4 other family members, and we all had a fantastic time there! I've had my hair cut and colored here several times, and the quality of both has always been exceptional. Unfortunately, I won't be making any further appointments here because of the absolutely terrible customer service. The receptionist is seriously rude, both over the phone and in person. A receptionist should greet and check out a customer with a cheerful demeanor, but the girl at the front desk is openly disdainful to customers. It is poor form to make paying customers feel as though they're being disrespected in anyway. The two stars are only for the cut and color (it's been good every time, and worth the cost). Although the haircut was great. I have an issue with hygiene. EVERY beautician uses the same combs/brushes on ALL the clients with NO disinfecting. The brushes used had someone else's hair in it. This leads to infections, and the transmission of head lice. Absolutely disgusting!!!!! read more

My mom and I had a 9:30 appointment on November 23rd for the magic sleek straightening. No one showed up until 10 am. Jamie worked on my mom's hair and explained the process unlike Brittany who didn't explain anything to me. They informed us that they can't guarantee that the treatment will last 5 months if we do not use the magic sleek shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo and conditioner smells bad and does not leave the hair feeling soft. Our hair was so knotty after we used it and it costs $25 per bottle. Who can afford this when it runs out? We called the salon and tried to get a refund for the additional shampoo and conditioner that we bought that was un opened. We explained the reasons for why we didn't like the products and they didn't seem to care. We were told that we can get a $50 credit, which is ridiculous. If we purchased the products at a store, we would receive our money back. In addition, my mom left a message for Jamie and she never returned her call. This is unprofessional. My mother's hair is still wavy in the back if she air dries it. Each of us paid $250 and gave each a $25 tip. The credit is useless because we are not going back or recommending this business to anyone. read more
