Our truck failed (fuel pump) on AZ Hwy 86 going eastbound to Tucson approximately 10 miles east of the T-intersection at Why at about 3:15 pm on a Tuesday. Thankfully, the temps were in the mid-80', and we had cell phone reception. After speaking to AAA, we two debated whether to tow to Tucson or back to Ajo for repairs, we decided to bite bullet, pay the price and be towed to our mechanic in Tucson. I spoke to Concha at NAPA (very pleasant), informed her of our decision, and the arrangement was made for service to Tucson. The time quoted for the tow arrival was 6:13 pm, but our driver, Melissa, arrived much earlier at approximately 5:40 pm. Melissa was pleasant, extremely knowledgeable and speedy. We opted to sit in "First Class" in the back of her rig, and it really was a far more safe and comfortable ride than either of us expected. We were reminded of previous great rides on our Amtrak trips. The time to safely move and secure our truck during departure and arrival was about 30 minutes each time. Our service was concluded at around 8:30 pm. Although the price seemed prohibitive at $655, there was ultimately no doubt about the value of the service. Especially considering that we needed to be back to attend to OUR business. Yes. We recommend the Towing Service from NAPA Del Sur.

I booked this mobile mechanic through Yelp for a diagnostic after already having my Jeep scanned at…read moreAutoZone and receiving error codes (injector, spark plugs, and gaskets). I explained this upfront and still chose to proceed with a diagnostic to confirm the issue. I was quoted a flat $65 diagnostic fee by the owner with no mention of pricing ranges or tiers. I agreed and scheduled the service. The technician arrived about 30 minutes later than scheduled, which I was informed of ahead of time. During a brief text exchange with the owner, I expressed concern due to a prior negative experience with another company. The response I received made the interaction feel slightly tense, including being told I could "find someone else" if needed. When the technician arrived, I explained the issues and the codes I already had. During the inspection, the technician began deeper inspection work on the vehicle. I was not clearly informed beforehand that more extensive disassembly or work beyond a basic diagnostic could result in additional charges. Afterward, I was told the diagnostic would actually be $200 due to the depth of the inspection, despite originally being quoted $65. After discussing this, I was ultimately charged $75. I expressed concern that the pricing change was not communicated upfront. The owner later acknowledged that he should have communicated a pricing range and that this was a mistake on his part. I requested a copy of the diagnostic findings I was being charged for. The response indicated there was no formal report, but pictures and a summary were provided. Communication afterward included frustration from the business regarding the reduced payment, despite the pricing change being due to lack of prior disclosure. While I do believe the technician performed the inspection thoroughly and provided useful findings, the core issue was the lack of clear communication around pricing structure, scope of work, and potential cost changes before work beyond a basic diagnostic began. I would recommend future customers get very clear written confirmation of what is included in the diagnostic fee, whether deeper inspection can change pricing, and what documentation will be provided before service begins.

He gave recommendations based on other things he noticed and sent me an estimate for those services right away. Communicating via text was so helpful as I was coordinating the repairs while working, and he made everything so seamless! I will definitely be using Tapia Auto for all my needs going forward!
