Best decision we ever made regarding our care for pregnancy and labor/delivery! This is our first baby and with everything going on in hospitals, policies and now covid issues, my husband and I were weary about going the traditional route for pre and postnatal care. So I started looking into alternatives and then I met Fawn, Kim and their midwife student Jamie! I was convinced they were the right choice for us from the very first meeting. These ladies care and actually show that they care. Every appointment they listened to what I was going through and made helpful suggestions. They were able to monitor my vitals and order labs like blood work and ultrasounds. Near the end of my pregnancy I had some liver issues and they caught it by listening to what I was going through and ordering more blood work. Labor and delivery went better than I thought it would. They were very understanding! This being my first delivery, everyone thought labor would be long. However, a few hours later, I believed things were progressing. They came out to check on me when I expressed my concerns, even though everyone thought it would be a long time. They cared about me and my peace of mind, dropping everything to check on me. Sure enough, labor was progressing quickly and I had my daughter a few hours after they arrived. During delivery, they were calm and peaceful. They encouraged me to listen to my body and to try different positions to find what was best for me. I was able to focus on what I needed and nothing else. I came to Fawn with one of my friends that referred me to her. I immediately noticed how compassionate and truly caring she was. She was respectful of my viewpoints and choices, never once questioning me. Fawn gave me a lot of information my OB did not. I got to walk both sides of the fence and my experience with Fawn vs my OB were night and day. Appointments with fawn lasted at least an hour, giving me plenty of time to talk and get every question I had answered. Appointments with my OB lasted 5mins or less. I am so glad I chose to have Fawn as my midwife. Because of her, I was able to make informed decisions, be prepared mentally and physically, and have my first birth without fear or worry. I called this business to inquire about their services. I spoke with Fawn, about what insurance they accept. I asked Fawn if she accepts Medi-Cal and she replied with "no" (which was totally fine). But she then proceeded to tell me "there are some midwives who accept lower income insurance from those type of people". I just laughed and thanked her, and ended the call. Little does she know, how many women asked me about home births midwives, and I will never recommend her. As well as being very unaware, that I have a great job, but opted for medi-cal since Kaiser does not cover home births. Moral of the story, I enjoyed some laughs and it was a great reminder to always be mindful of who you're communicating with. Because you never know how influential their circle is. read more

My husband and I were lucky enough to find Fawn after she recently relocated from Napa to Sacramento. She has 25+ years experience as a midwife and she was always able to answer above and beyond with any questions we had concerning the process. Each prenatal and post natal appointment was done in the comfort of our home and she spent quality time with us at each appointment. I always felt as though my health and well-being were important before, during and after. She called frequently to check-in on my baby and I after the birth and was available at all times for questions or concerns. I highly recommend Fawn for a family considering home birth. After having my first child in a hospital and my second at home, I would not have another hospital birth if given the choice. My home birth experience was the purest, most beautiful, comfortable experience and my baby was born in a calm environment with a relaxed mama. Comfort is the best word to describe my home birth with Fawn. I labored comfortably in any position without being hooked up to monitors or checked incessantly for dilation. I wore comfortable clothes and not hospital clothing. I knew who was in my house and was comfortable in how I labored without any concern about who was entering my room. I trusted her and there was never a point where my husband or I were concerned about our safety or the safety of our baby. I chose to do all of my prenatal exams with Kaiser and also doubled up doing them with Fawn. After every exam I was EXTREMELY happy we had chosen to not have our baby at Kaiser Roseville. The nurses and nurse midwives at Kaiser did a poor job at informing me of my choices and educating me on tests. Kaiser told me what I would be doing whereas Fawn gave me a choice. She provided a wealth of information and spoke to me about each test and the pros and cons. Ultimately, it was my choice to accept or deny the test. Even though this was my second baby I was anxious about labor. Fawn helped to ease my fears by having me read and we talked about my fears. I trusted her during my labor and listened to what she said to do and my labor progressed quickly and without issue. I felt safe, comfortable and empowered with Fawn. Oh i just love Fawn! I was so fortunate to have hired her for my first birth. Best choice I could have made. I immediately felt at ease with her from our first interview. I saw an OBGYN in addition to seeing Fawn for prenatal appointments because it was covered by my insurance. There was such a contrast in the level of care between Fawn and the doctor's office. Fawn's visits are personal, thorough and she really gets to know you. Each of her visits lasted at least an hour so everything is covered. Compare that with the typical doctor's office where you wait in the waiting room for 30 minutes, wait in the exam room for 20 minutes, then see the doctor for about 10 minutes. She not only is personable, but very knowledgeable. You can really tell she has years of experience. I felt very comfortable with her and trust her opinion. She works with Rachel who is her partner midwife. Rachel is very dedicated. She was the first to respond when I went into labor and was there with me until I delivered. She visited me several times when I got sick after the birth to check on me and the baby. Also, she prepared several herbal remedies for my recovery. Fawn, Randi, and her assistants ( Jaime and Pauline) Were beyond amazing! Our only regret is not having a home birth with them with our first child. Our hospital birth was stressful and irritating as there is little support to have a natural birth. It seemed as if all doctors and nurses were against this idea to allow birth to happen as its meant to, even with baby and I doing fine. Long story short, our son ended up in the NICU to rule out sepsis after countless and unnecessary checks for dilation. It was a rough experience. With our second child we had no doubt a home birth is what we wanted. My husband and I felt so comfortable with Fawn and her team, especially with her 40+ years of experience. We were educated all on our options and felt respected regardless of our decisions. We always looked forward to our prenatal appointments as they got to know use on a personal level. Fawn and her team, Mallory and Chloe, gave me the best possible experience with my first born son. I loved getting to know them during my prenatal visits. They calmed my fears, helped me prepare, and gave me excellent advice, from how to eat well to what to expect through every stage of birth. I had a rare thing happen where my membranes ruptured at 39 weeks and we tried everything to get labor to start on its own and it just wouldn't get started within a time frame that I was comfortable with (we waited 3 days and monitored my temperature and the baby carefully...still no baby). I decided with them that I wanted to go to the hospital to get things going and all it took was a dose and a half of Cytotec to get into active labor. They helped me make choices at the hospital that ensured I had intermittent monitoring, freedom to move around, access to food and water, and even helped me switch to a room with a tub. Every step of the way, Fawn, Mallory, and Chloe were there to advise me and make me feel safe. I was still able to have my low intervention birth at the hospital thanks to their expert coaching throughout. They helped me do different exercises to help me progress and make sure the baby was in the best position. They were also there to make sure the staff knew my wishes, one of them was with me at all times, and Fawn helped and encouraged me when I was ready to push. Our little guy was born healthy and happy. Without the education and support I received from Fawn, I don't think I would have had the same outcome. Afterwards, the ladies checked in with me postpartum. I loved that they came to me at my home to make sure I was doing well. I was able to get help with breastfeeding and ask about any concerns I had. My recovery was very smooth. Where do I even start? I always knew that I wanted a home birth, and when I got pregnant I started looking for a midwife. I was referred to Fawn by a close friend who hired Fawn a few years ago when she had her daughter and she highly recommended her. I read her website and decided to email her. She called me later that same day and we had a great conversation over the phone. She was so easy to talk to, we spoke for a good 15 minutes and made an appt for an in person consultation. I felt an instant connection and just had a gut feeling that she should be our midwife. As soon as my husband and I walked out of her office we talked it over for all of 2 minutes and called her on our way home to tell her we wanted her! I couldn't chance losing a spot for our month's due date. She is a very special person. We started seeing her once a month and loved our very relaxed, hour long prenatal visits, where she gave us ample time to talk about what was going on and ask questions. At 20 weeks I found out that I had a complete placenta previa and might have to have a c-section and was put on pelvic rest. I was devastated. In a hearbeat I would recommend Fawn and her assistant Olivia! I remember reading Yelp reviews, deciding if hiring a midwife, attempting a homebirth, was something that was for me. Fear-induced stories about labor from friends and family and my own fears about the birth process created a stark picture of birth. Yet, the more research I did through books, documentaries, testimonies, I realized homebirth was as safe and the natural choice for me. After meeting a couple of midwives, I liked Fawn and Olivia right away. They were so joyous and warm and made me feel very empowered from the get-go! I liked the fact that Fawn had 40+ years of experience, very flexible about the process, and most importantly calm and supportive. This was my first pregnancy, so my husband and I kept coming to the appointments with loads of questions. Fawn dispelled all our fears, reassuring us with patience time and time again; that is what I found to be amazing! The appointments would sometimes last longer than an hour, but she took her time, guiding us through the dark. Unfortunately, my blood pressure went up in the third trimester and I felt very discouraged. But Fawn, ever so positive, kept saying "nothing is in stone" and helped me make some decisions. I visited a clinic, did a lot of tests, and I got the green light to have a homebirth. Labor was so fast and exciting! My body knew exactly what to do and how to do it! From our first visit with fawn I knew she was meant to be my midwife. My first impressions of her warm, welcoming, calm, sweet, and experienced. Having been a midwife for over 40 years I felt safe and confident in choosing her. I am a first time mom and honestly never thought I would be having a home birth with my first child. After 3 hospital births, I decided I really wanted a home birth for my 4th baby. I interviewed other midwives, then selected Fawn and Olivia and her student midwife, Olivia. Over the course of my pregnancy and then baby's birth, I bonded so much with them. They have great energy, are calm, confident and totally empowering. The support and love they showed me was genuine and I will always hold a place for them in my heart. The prenatal care alone, was outstanding. They worked with me on my nutrition, my emotional well-being, baby's progress/growth, etc- and provided a safe and calm atmosphere where I could share my thoughts/concerns, desires for my baby's birth, and ask as many questions as I needed to. In relation to the care I received, there was no comparison to my OBGYN and his office where I always waited, sometimes upward of 30-60 minutes, and was seen for 10 minutes at the most. (He is fantastic and also very popular in my area, but like I said, there is NO comparison). Home birth is somewhat common in my family, but foreign to my husband. He was supportive, but not sure what to expect. After the birth, he has told everyone how impressed he was with the way that Fawn and Olivia worked so professionally, and competently to assist us with our home birth, and how great it was to be cared for so well in our home environment, knowing that our baby was in good hands. I think there is a common misconception that midwifes don't know or aren't prepared for problems or when things go wrong. I never had that feeling with Fawn, and felt that she was extremely thorough with my health and care of our baby. My husband and I are a couple of cautious introverts... and we were very nervous going into this process because we wanted to find someone calm, kind, and respectful of our wishes. We met with a couple of midwives, but the obvious choice for both of us was Fawn. Other midwives did all the talking, telling us exactly how they planned on doing everything and their protocols... but never really took the time to really listen to us and hear how we wanted the birth to go. Fawn was patient and attentive to our needs throughout the months, and we really appreciated the amount of time she spent with us each visit... her care was truly unparalleled. We also maintained checkups through our healthcare provider, and the difference in care between the clinical setting and Fawn was rather astounding. Fawn just went above and beyond what we could have imagined. She not only took the time to listen to our concerns and preferences for the home birth, but along the process she was able to help and educate us so we could make informed decisions.
