    Our daughter, Lillian Sunniva Pierson
    Lindsey P.

Fawn, Randi, and her assistants ( Jaime and Pauline) Were beyond amazing! Our only regret is not having a home birth with them with our first child. Our hospital birth was stressful and irritating as there is little support to have a natural birth. It seemed as if all doctors and nurses were against this idea to allow birth to happen as its meant to, even with baby and I doing fine. Long story short, our son ended up in the NICU to rule out sepsis after countless and unnecessary checks for dilation. It was a rough experience. With our second child we had no doubt a home birth is what we wanted. My husband and I felt so comfortable with Fawn and her team, especially with her 40+ years of experience. We were educated all on our options and felt respected regardless of our decisions. We always looked forward to our prenatal appointments as they got to know use on a personal level. ( this is would never happen in an MD office). Fawn was very thorough in her assessments and addressed any possible complications that could arise before it could even happen. My home birth experience was everything we wanted and more! A total opposite of our hospital birth. Our daughter was born without any complications. The amount of support from the beginning of labor through the postpartum period was beyond amazing. We can't thank Fawn and her team enough for such a smooth and magical birth experience! If we decide to have a 3rd... It will definitely be with Fawn!

Fawn is an amazing midwife. She guided us through our pregnancy and was very thorough. Prenatal appointments were wonderful and something to look forward to. She was available whenever we needed to speak to her and if we ordered any tests she went out of her way to get us the results as fast as possible. She treats you with respect and supports you in your decisions. When I went into labor she was fantastic. She is truly there for you and will do whatever she can to help you get the birth you want. One of the reasons we love her so much is she doesn't promise a home birth, she promises to do everything she can to keep you and your child safe while you try and achieve the birth you want. She is a calm and steady presence in the storms of labor. We feel very blessed to have had her by our side during this life changing experience.

    Homebirth success after cesarean!!

I recently had a home birth after cesarean with Fawn and her team. I knew it was 2000% what I wanted and was going to be a wonderful experience, but what I got was so much more! My care during pregnancy was top notch, I was always the final decision maker with Fawn educating me and giving me all my options along the way. My birth was anything but textbook but I always had Fawn by my side guiding the way. She was so professional giving me the pros and cons of each test or optional procedure. She was very focused on preventative care to give you the best chance of a low risk birth along with helpful suggestions along the way. After an extended early labor and brief active labor, Fawn caught my little surprise baby at my home. Her wisdom and experience are what kept my eye on the prize and I'll never be able to thank her enough for believing in me! I did it, I birthed a baby vaginally the way I was made to!!!

If it were not for Tanya, I would probably have given up on breastfeeding my daughter by 6 weeks. But now at 18+ months, we are still nursing. My daughter and I got off to a rough start with breastfeeding. I initially worked with Kaiser Permanente lactation consultants (who were not IBCLC) to address my daughter's low weight gain in her first weeks. Weighted feeds showed she was not transferring enough milk. I was advised that she just "needed time" to gain the strength to adequately nurse (!). I suspected a tongue tie but was told they "didn't think" she had one. I am so glad I trusted my mama gut and got a consultation with Tanya. Tanya diagnosed a posterior tongue tie, recommended a revision, and walked us through the after care. Following the revision we wanted to do cranial sacral therapy but could not afford the providers Tanya could readily recommend. Tanya did the legwork to help me find someone qualified that fit our budget. Within a couple weeks of the revision and CST treatment my daughter was on track. I will never forget the day my daughter transferred well over 4 ounces in a weighted feed! Tanya was (almost) as excited as I was. Tanya remained a great resource for me during our first six months. She was a sounding board as I dealt with supply issues after I returned to work. She helped us through a rough patch when my daughter was regurgitating milk. And she even helped us troubleshoot potential food allergies. Tanya is accessible and responsive. She knows a ton and finds the answers when she doesn't have them. But above all, she is a warm, caring person who will make you feel safe and supported as you and your child learn to breastfeed. Tanya was a major part of my support system as a new mother. I highly recommend you make her part of yours!

I experienced difficulty with my supply in the first few months and attended at BF group led by Tanya. Before the group even started I received support from her on the phone and individual attention that helped me and my baby establish a BF relationship and boost my supply. Fast forward to 10 months later my baby went on nursing strike! In a panic I called Tanya. She talked me through steps to get the baby back to BF which were successful. I highly recommend the support either in home, group or via phone. I don't think I would have been able to reach my BF goals without her help!

I was triple feeding and burning the candle at both ends on top of the emotional strain of feeling like my body failed. Serena made me feel grounded and whole when everything felt chaotic and out of my control. She normalized some of the challenges that we were experiencing. She gave me really grounded advice that helped me set expectations. Including really thinking about risks and benefits when dealing with a baby who had oral aversion. Rather than focusing on every feed or every ounce on the scale, she helped me focus on the big picture of helping the baby feel safe and in control in his own body and developing a mother and infant bond that would support our long-term journey. Not only did she offer a calming presence, good advice, but she continued to be available and responsive weeks months, and even years down the road. She supported me with my second baby years later, and has continued to be a supportive, trusted person in my life. I call her my Milk Fairy GOdmother. She truly was a blessing.

I didn't have a doula for my first birth and I knew I wanted some support the second time around. Even though she was out of the country when we first contacted her, she was super responsive and was a great communicator throughout the entire process. Christine met us at our home to discuss the details, such as our birth plan and an overview of her services. She was very knowledgable and professional and helped with all of the birth related questions we had. She constantly checked in to see how I was feeling and eased my mind during the weeks before my labor. On the big day I kept her informed by text as to my progress. I wasn't convinced I was in true labor and didn't call her to join us until much later. When I knew we would be staying, my husband and I decided to have her join us when we were checked into a room (the triage space was so tiny there was barely any space for even my husband). Unfortunately it was such a busy night we ended up in triage for 5 hours! They kept telling us it would only be another 30 minutes...another hour, etc. as the time ticked away. By the time we did get a room and asked her to come, I got an epidural. She drove all the way to Alta Bates in the middle of the night. I think it was around 3 or 4am. When she arrived she took charge by calming me down, talking to the nurses, and answering questions the nurses would not explain. She massaged my hands and helped me turn from side to side/change positions. When it came to the pushing part she helped me gather my strength and even held my leg back as I pushed. After the birth she assisted with communicating our wishes like delayed cord cutting and immediate skin to skin contact, no eye medicine, etc. She stayed for several hours after helping me with breast feeding positions, my baby's latch, and getting me anything I needed (like water and food). Most importantly, my husband and I were able to bond with our baby together since Christine took care of everything we needed. During the weeks after the birth of my son she checked in with me many times. She sent me resources about breastfeeding and my local leche league meetings, and during my post partum meeting she even helped clean my house and do dishes. The birth of my son was so amazing and Christine was a huge part of that. I look forward to using her again for a third baby and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a birth coach!

She informed us of what goes on during labor so that we could have a better understanding. I wanted a natural birth and Christine shared with us different techniques and positions that would help with that and we also got to practice some of them. She help my husband and I to come up with questions to ask for our hospital tour. Christine made herself available anytime I had questions or when I wanted to update her on how my pregnancy was going. She had laminated scripture cards that she let us borrow and my husband read those to me during the early stages of labor. When I was ready for Christine to come to the hospital she arrived quickly. Once there she was ready to help me get into a better position that would encourage labor to progress. When trying out the different techniques she would ask if I felt comfortable or if I wanted to try something else. She genuinely cared for how I felt. When my contractions were getting stronger she reminded me to breath, talked me through them, and held my hand, comforting me with the fact that each contraction would bringing me closer to seeing my precious baby. She again checked with me to see if I was ok with her talking and touching me or if I preferred her not to. I found her words comforting and focusing on her voice really helped me get through each contraction. My contractions got more intense and I felt that I couldn't continue, Christine reassured me that everything was progressing well and that I would soon see my baby. I was able to refocus and continue to have a natural birth. My baby's head came out without the nurses or dr present and Christine was calm and did a great job calling the nurses and dr in, since my husband was kind of in a panic mode and didn't know what to do. Once my baby was here I tried breastfeeding but was having trouble getting her to latch, Christine stayed to help me. She also visited me the next day to continue to help. Christine also provided resources and referrals which was very helpful. I highly recommend Christine to anyone looking for a doula. Christine listens to your needs and does her best to accommodate them, she provides great support and comfort. My husband and I are truly grateful for Christine.
