Quality/Quantity - My wife candy - She says 4 stars. Coffee Candy - White chocolate coffee, milk chocolate coffee, dark chocolate coffee. My daughter got the following and she says it was some of the best she has ever tasted. Pumpkin malt. Blueberry covered in chocolate. Green apple salt water taffy. Atmosphere - Small candy and nut store. Open 7 days a week, see picture or Yelp as the website hours differ slightly. Service - Okay, everyone was cleaning, getting ready to go close and go home. Price - $4, thanks for being one of the few stores that actually weigh the small purchase candy. Some places have charged for individual pieces. But then "other" places have just given them for free to my daughter as samples since she literally only wants 1 piece each. Small issue with price when we got rung up. The prices went up in the system, but the prices marked on the candy did not get updated. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1983.

Really cute little shop, they hire teens and they usually have a good attitude. I've had a poor experience one of the days where I was notified how they're closing in about 10-15 min... as if I was going to spend that long in a candy shop. We went again yesterday and I decided to try their super pricey chocolates, 33/lb. When I say I couldn't bite through them, I mean... I could not bite through them. They weren't cold either. They're so hard. I picked 4 different flavors and I cannot tell the flavors apart. It's because all the balls have creamy chocolate in there and I figured out that they're all the same with flavor added in the middle. I would think the hazelnut would have a single hazelnut in it or something. For something so pricey, I expected more. I would've been better off going to godiva for thar price point. Nonetheless, the variety of candy is insanity, you can get your childhood candies there and try a million others. My photo: because I have a tough time biting into the chocolate, I had to use a hammer to smash it. Yes it's dramatic, but it either that or my tenderizer.

Fun place with a large selection. They make fresh popcorn! The store is a bit small in size but not small on items for sale . There were plenty of staff helping out.

    Cheese popcorn,peppermint bark,gummy candy.

Nice store with a really cool setup,my popcorn was really delicious . I can't wait to try more treats from this lovely shop.

Walking by the downtown listening to Italian music outside of the shop made me curious to check it out. Wow I'm glad I did! The coconut clusters were so creamy and decadent. The caramel corn was better than state fair! And that's saying a lot. Several varieties of fudge Makes it difficult to just pick one.

I love Garrett's Popcorn and wish there was one closer. Stumbled across this place and was so happy to see them making some caramel and cheese popcorn! Knew I had to get some!! The bags were pre-packaged. I asked if this was still fresh, and the lady said they bagged it earlier that day. I wish they would've scooped me some from the batch they just made behind the counter. That wasn't offered to me though. I grabbed a small bag of the mix and went on my way. I couldn't wait til I made it back to my car, so I cracked it open on my walk. Let me say, this is very very very close to Garrett's. Job well done! The small mix was $5 (with tax)...Comparable to prices as Garrett's. Just wish it was as fresh! My sister got a mix of the different candies they have to choose from. The lady helping her was very friendly and helpful. Candy is candy.

Take a nostalgic visit to Naper Nuts & Sweets, a good old fashioned olly store to get your sugar fix. Love the old selections that are not available elsewhere that takes you back to your childhood, as well as getting the lollies from glass jars! You can pick your poison here, popcorns, lollies, ice creams, or fudges.

"Who can take a sunrise? Cover it with dew. Cover it in choc'late and a miracle or two. The candy man... the candy man can." Just like Willy Wonka, Naper Nuts & Sweets makes the world taste good. This is an old school candy shop. Not the modern day glitzy neon shops that you might find in a mall. Wood flooring, well worn from the daily lines of kids over the last 30 yrs. Row upon row upon row of jars filled with colorful candies. Everything you can imagine... and then some. I keep hoping for a "Willy Wonka" moment when the storekeeper will break into song and begin throwing candy to everyone but it's never happened yet. This place really is a step back in time for me, as they carry countless candies that I haven't seen since I was a child. It seems that every time I'm here, I find yet another candy that I haven't seen in decades. --even candy cigarettes, which you almost never see anymore! If there is a half day of school or a vacation day, you can be assured that I will be here. -With my kids desperately trying to narrow down their candy possibilities to the three that they are allowed. They can smell the caramel corn for blocks. --It's Naper's secret to luring kids (and their parents) into their store. I have to be honest; it is pricey here, which is why I rate it a 4 instead of a 5. I was ringing up near some teens today who were shocked at the $3 price tag for a pack of gum. They decided they didn't want to spend that much for gum and they left. I was actually proud of them for that. --good decision! Typical candy bars here are about $1.50. When you can buy those for .75 cents at the grocery store, it does seem a little silly. The old candy bars that are near extinction are over $2, but I assume they are priced higher from their manufacturers because they sell them in such small quantities. FYI, this small local business ships thousands of pounds of caramel corn to our military troops all over the world. If my rather inflated prices for candy are also paying for a young person, who's potentially sacrificing him/her life for me, I will gladly pay the few extra bucks I know I spend here so that they can get a care package from the states. More than anything, we come here for the experience of being in an old candy shop.. Priced high or not, this store is what kids' dreams are made of.

    Heaven in a bag!

I placed a order online 12/23/23 and somehow my order was received but not shipped out. I reached out to the (MOD) manager on duty and she was very friendly and apologetic. She took my name and number and actually called me back. She looked up my order and found that it hadn't been shipped out but the payment was received so she reached out to the owner and they drove all the way from Naperville to downtown Chicago and delivered my order to me personally. In my 50years of living I have never experienced this kind of customer service. I can't remember the young lady I was in contact with but she was nothing short of amazing and definitely deserves a raise. Thank you for your service and follow through support. You definitely have gained a new customer for life. Jeff thank you for driving out to insure I received my order. Thank you all again for caring and offering the best popcorn I have ever had in my entire life. Yours truly NEW CUSTOMER FOR LIFE!!!!

Just a couple of the amazing popcorn bags.....

I was rudely approached for having a small support dog in my arms. Not considerate to aging handicap customers.

The shop itself is compact and usually busy, with a steady line of customers moving through the counter, but the staff keeps orders moving efficiently enough that the wait never feels excessive. The Garrett Mix is the obvious choice for a first visit, combining sweet caramel and savory cheddar popcorn in a way that somehow works perfectly together. We ordered a bag and found the popcorn had a light, crisp texture, with each kernel coated evenly and the flavors balancing without one overpowering the other. The caramel added a rich sweetness, while the cheddar brought a sharp, salty contrast that made the combination addictive. The popcorn is made fresh throughout the day, and the quality of each batch felt consistent, with no stale or undercooked pieces. While there are plenty of other flavors and seasonal options available, the classic mix remains the standout, and it is easy to see why it has become synonymous with Chicago. The shop is more of a grab-and-go experience than a place to linger, making it convenient if you are exploring downtown or looking for something to enjoy on the walk back to your hotel. The packaging is practical, with bags that seal well to keep the popcorn fresh, and they also offer a variety of collectible tins if you are planning to bring some home as a souvenir or gift. The staff handled the steady flow with efficiency, and the turnover was fast enough that even when the line stretched, we were out within a few minutes. Garrett Popcorn has earned its reputation over the years, and it is one of those places that lives up to the hype. It is simple, consistently fresh, and a stop we would recommend to anyone visiting Chicago for the first time. The combination of the iconic mix, the freshness of the product, and the efficient service makes it a reliable choice for a classic Chicago treat that feels both familiar and distinctly local.
