Excellent area for disc golfing. A bit confusing map going from hole to hole. But after a round or two you'll be sure to figure it out. Lines painted for 18 holes with baskets for about six. So many go back and forth. Great views nonetheless.

I wish I was able to go more than once! The drill was 1.5 hours long and Joseph taught it. We warmed up for the first 15-30 min and then played a bunch of mini games. There were 8 of us in the class and very different levels ranging from kids on the college tennis team to me (who picked up tennis as a hobby during the pandemic). Joseph did a great job pairing us up for the mini games so it was a challenge for all. It was a great way to work off all the lava flows from the past week and have fun doing it. It's also a beautiful setting to play some tennis! I left my racquet back home, but they do offer rentals as well. And for those not wanting to do a drill you can just reserve courts, get a ball machine and/or lessons with the pros.

The members do a great job of helping to organize with the rules and we made some great friends while visiting. Thanks Ryan for making us feel at home! I did hear that sadly there was a petition to end pickleball here because of the noise at the end of 2024. I hope it's not true and they can continue because this is a fantastic pickleball community with some really nice courts.

I was told by the concierge ahead of time that I didn't need to worry about booking tennis until the day before so to just wait until we got to the resort. It turns out the drills book up fast and way ahead of time so when I called on arrival day I ended up being #9 or 10 on the waitlist. Eek! Fortunately, the waitlist moves since people get busy with other things to do in the Big Island so I did get in to 2 classes. Joseph and Dan (i think) taught both drills. We started the drills with a warm up and then did a bunch of mini games. I'd say most players were at the intermediate level and they did a good job of pairing us up so that the levels were well matched. An hour of drills flew by, especially when looking at that view! My daughter also took one of the kids drills, which she enjoyed. The ages ranged from about 10-15 so at 14 she was one of the older kids, but all of them hit pretty well. The instructor did a great job of keeping them engaged with games and the hour seemed to move pretty fast for them too. Two other days I reserved courts (that you do the day before- i recommend calling in the morning since they fill fast)) and hit with my kids, which was a lot of fun. It can get pretty windy out by the ocean and a little hot too, but they drop off water while you're playing to keep you hydrated. We left our racquets back at home (less to pack), but we just rented racquets which was also a good way to try out some new ones. I have my eye on a Yonex after playing pretty well with it one day! The pickleball courts were even more full than the tennis courts. I stuck with tennis this trip, but would love to do both next time!

Funny I live near a small town called Seaside and grew up playing at one of the tennis clubs, in regards to ambiance nothing compares to this fabulous resort tennis club. Here to celebrate a close family friend's wedding we decided to play a little mixed doubles and sweat out some of last night's libations. It was hard for me to focus as I heard the waves lightly crashing ashore and the view of the palm trees didn't help as I raised my face into the sun to hit a serve. This club is run by a friendly staff as they remembered that family that I arrived with, they are as regular as visitors to hit island get and the pro shop is neatly laid out and it was hard for me not to buy one of those bright signature orange Mauna Kea Beach Hotel logo-ed hats or shirts. Lucky for me, the color orange and I do not get along... well at least not Tony the Tiger orange. If you enjoy the game of tennis and you want to hit a few while visiting the Kohala coast, I recommend hitting up the Seaside Tennis Club. If not for tennis, just check out the club grounds to see how magical and refreshing it would be to play here. Open 8:00am-5:00pm Daily

This morning Keopuolani Park had a fun run for Pono Viela so there were a lot of people when we arrived so we rerouted. The streetlight at Kaahumanu and Papa was out so we rerouted again. Finally we ended up here at KCC and the little playground was pilau. It was full of graffiti and it's clearly old but at least it's gated in. We didn't stay here as long as we usually stay at Keopuolani but it did the trick. We could use more nice playgrounds here in Central Maui or upgrade ones like these. I think next time Keopuolani is packed, we will just go to Wailuku Heights park even though it's pretty windy sometimes up there or the one by Wailuku Elementary even though there's usually ball games going at that one.

Even better were rainy days where body boards took the place of cardboard boxes and if we walked away unscathed with little to no bruises, we considered ourselves one of the lucky ones. I remember a number of field trips to the swimming pool, hanging on to the walls for dear life, but still having so much fun. Aah, those were the days. The park has changed very little since then & that's all part of it's charm. With it's soccer fields, swimming pool, community center, tennis courts, walking trails, etc. Kahului Community Center Park has always been a gathering place for families, friends, & generations of local Mauians. Although the facilities are quite a bit older, everything has been well maintained for the most part. The community center remains popular for all types of parties and events. Frequent games are hosted on the soccer fields. Tennis courts are well lit once the sun bids us adieu. And the playgrounds are enclosed for our littles to enjoy. The park is centrally located so I still come here to take my son out to play every now and then. The playground is geared more towards older children, but there's still enough for my 3 1/2 year old to enjoy. He might also just like being outside in general so there's that... hehe. All in all, great park!
