Steubenville is not exactly the mecca of fine foods, but the reviews for this restaurant sounded decent so I thought I'd check it out. I was pretty disappointed. I'm not sure if it was just a 'bad' night, but the best part of the service was when I walked in and was told: "Just sit where you want honey". The place is quaint, an old house converted into a restaurant. I found a table and sat. A disgruntled waitress was clearing tables next to me. I politely asked for a menu and was COMPLETELY ignored. I just sat there and when no one acknowledged me I reached to another table and got a menu. It took about 20-25 minutes until a waitress decided to walk up to me. Seeing how this was going to go I ordered the entire meal. The waitress did come back rather quickly with a glass of water and shortly showed up w/ my soup and salad. The soup had okay flavor but was only lukewarm. The salad was pretty simple and the dressing was actually pretty good. After a short wait I received the main entree. Chicken Parm withe the vegetable of the day. The vegetable was green beans (boiled not steamed). They actually were okay, but half the bowl had hot water in it still. The chicken parm was fried to hardness. Not bad flavor, but I think most frozen chicken patties (it very well may have been) would be about the same. It was covered w/ mozz and the marinara was pretty good. I'm really not trying to put this place down, but I expected much better. Try at your own risk. Positives are affordable and if you are in Steubenville it might be the norm. read more

If you are looking for real Italian food then Naples is the place. I've been to many Italian restaurants and Naples is the "gold" standard. The food is always hot and the service is above average. The servers go up and beyond to make sure your glass is full. This is the best Restraunt in the State of Ohio. They don't deserve 5 stars they EARNED them. read more

Their food is incredible. The waitress and patrons were so pleasant and friendly. They made us feel like we were a part of the family at their dinner table. I was told the restaurant had been there for over 80 years. I wouldn't change a thing about it. Staff are very loud... Don't seem to understand they are in a restaurant where people are trying to have a nice dinner. Act like they're in their home but shouting at each other. Many with mask not covering their nose. Waitress took hers off at our table to rattle off all dressings instead of pointing to them on the menu. Agree with others that the food and service have changed dramatically. Alfredo sauce had little taste, served fried zucchini with ketchup/cocktail sauce...we weren't sure... instead of marinara! If you stick with pasta and and a red sauce, you're probably ok. It's unfortunate the staff and cooks don't treat it like the little gem it could and used to be. read more

Food was ok decor was still the same dingy way I remember it from all of my child hood. Our server was fantastic, however the manager was a coward. We had a large party and all the food except one was cooked to the best it could be. Except for my cousins lasagna it was so dried out on the bottom and even tasted burnt. It was like the noodle was raw shelf store bought lasagna again. She presented her complaint and the waitress said sorry I get you a new one. Then came back and said the manager told her it wasn't burnt. First off just fix the problem, I have been in the restaurant business for over 15 years now and I would have never sent something back to the table with a rebuttal. 3 others had the lasagna in our party and they were all fine. Maybe she got a bad corner that sat in the hottest part of the oven or hot box they hold them in not sure. If you are going to have a problem with a costumer complaint then as a "MANAGER" you should deal with it yourself not send your server back to the table twice. It makes it awkward for her and the patrons. This place used to be the best in the valley now it's just a joke. Management should be ashamed of themselves. read more

I haven't lived in the Ville since 1979, but I am so glad this institution is still there. The food tastes as good as it did 40 plus years ago. I always eat the meat sauce heel. The food was good. The 36% taxes were NOT enjoyable. My family and I were in the Pittsburgh area and opted to drive to Steubenville, OH to get a bite and look around. We chose Naples Spaghetti House because it sounded like a nice local eatery. The menu prices were reasonable. The portions were generous. There's not much in the way of ambiance. The layout is terrible. When I received my check I was surprised to see the total just a little over $80. We are a family of four. Our meals came to just over $58. We all had water to drink. The tax on our meal was over $21. That's a rough tax percentage of 36% - ridiculous! read more

The staff at Naples are Pleasent. The fresh bread for the table is soft but crusty and just wonderful. The menu is average without much standing out. They do offer a number of veal dishes so I had the escalopini which is as different than I've ever had in a stew like consistency loaded with tomato peas and peppers. The veal was in small pieces and was tender. The accompanying spaghetti with meat sauce was however disappointing. All in all a solid meal. A little pricey for the amount of meat. read more

It Was Ok...Just The Average Italian Restaurant So many restaurants use nostalgic names like Naples, Venice, etc etc in their title or on their advertising just to draw you in thinking you're going to actually get something more than just average sauce. meatballs, and other dishes. They were moderately busy and still made sure that we were accommodated with clean silverware, glasses, and came back to our table in a timely manner seeing if everything was ok and if we needed anything. However the prices are just a little high for what we got and again like with so many restaurants, the sodas are 99.9% water and .01% flavoring whereby restaurants are make A LOT of money from their drinks by doing this. We have even made polite complaints to countless restaurants over the years and all the waitresses and management say is "huh, really...we don't get complaints from anyone else" or "oh, I don't drink the sodas myself and so wouldn't know" yet when we talk to others about it, many of them agree that most restaurant's sodas are odd, and all that the waitresses n management would have to is take a drink of their sodas and see if we have a legitimate complaint but no one to this day has offered to or has accepted to do it after we politely asked them to. We have also said how we would go buy any brand of soda from any store in any type of container (can, plastic bottle, or glass bottle) and they can put it side by side with their soda and then try to tell us that their soda is not ridiculously watered down but they always excuse it off. Me and my husband both have worked in the restaurant business over the past 20 years and we KNOW what these places do to skimp money from it's customers at every level. Bottom line...Naples is a nice place for an average meal with attentive customer service but nothing special that makes you want to keep coming back time and time again read more

Been going there for about 20 years, their consistency is amazing. Never have we been disappointed. From my wife's favorite, Chicken Parmesan., To my fave, Lasagna, we can't find better anywhere. Never had a bad meal or service over the years. Try their house salad dressing with the fresh baked bread on the side...delicious. read more

Went here with my boyfriend and his parents and it was outstanding. Our waitress was completely personable and wonderful. The house dressing, just to die for! The bread, I can't even tell you, but get it with the hot peppers and you don't even need a meal! But, don't overdo it on appetizers, the hot stuffed peppers are amazing, too, by the way, as well as the fried ravioli, because the main courses are just as incredible! I had the veal cutlet parm, just amazing! Everyone else's dinners were just as good. My boyfriend's chicken parm, just wonderful. Enjoy the very casual atmosphere and relax, but we went home stuffed! Every time I visit Naples I can almost picture Dino himself walking right past me to a cozy table in back. This place has that nostalgic draw to it that few have these days, esp in this area. The ambiance is a bit divey but at the same time cozy and comforting- this is part of the appeal. Love the hot stuffed peppers smothered in provolone as well as all the Italian house specialties. My dad has been raving about this place for years. I had the rigatoni with meat sauce and a meat ball. It was pretty good. The meatball was a little mushy, not the best I've had but still a pretty good flavor. My husband had the special, ravioli with a tomato cream sauce, which was delicious. read more

This place is worth checking into. The atmosphere is rustic and the smell from the kitchen is great. I have dined in as well as ordered food for take out here. My first and last impression of this restaurant left me very disappointed. We came in on a Saturday to find a line of patrons. We put our name and number of people (2) in with the gentleman working the front of the house. We stood among the other waiting patrons, the majority being ederly and many of them veterans. We spoke with one couple who said yes the wait was long but they were long time and loyal customers and assured me the wait was worth it for the food. A younger couple and their small child walked in fifteen minutes or so after us and checked in with the man seating everyone stating they did not have a reservation. The owner of the establishment (according to the workers and waiting customers) saw them and immediately went and found them a table even though the front desk worker tried to tell her there were others in front of them. We said something about the unfairness we had witnessed and one of the ederly customers, standing there with the aid of a cane told us the couple that had been sat held a high position at Big Red schools. We said something to the staff about this and was told to shut up by one of the waitresses. After watching a business owner choose a person with a higher status of the community over her loyal patrons and especially our veterans I am highly disgusted with the behavior. I will never support a business who disrespects the people who support them the most! read more

I love Naples because it has some of my favorite childhood foods that I grew up eating. We eat there every time we are in town and we buy trays to go when we have reunions. I gave it three stars because I felt taken advantage of recently when we ordered food for our reunion. We ordered a salad tray and a rigatoni tray. $70, Sounded good. Later, I noticed they charged me $130. I called. They said the rigatoni was $70 and they had forgotten to charge me the $60(!) for salad. Trust me, if they had charged me that while I was there I would have told them to keep the lettuce! Never again. read more

The food was sooo good . Camed down for Dean Martin festival. Had spagetti with meat sauce and salad with their Joes italian . Salad was very good but the homemade dressing was the star of the show. You gotta ask for it ,its not on the menu Their pasta sauce was manga deleciouso ! Portions are large . Service was very good with the waitress knowing a lot about the local area . The place has a raffish charm, and it is one of the few holdouts of any kind in downtown Steubenville, haunted as it is by the shades of Dino Crocetti and Jimmy Snyder. The waitstaff is friendly (though, since everyone in Steubenville is friendly, this hardly counts) and the crowd is always having a good time. However, in a place where I grew up eating extraordinarily wonderful Italian food in people's homes, I wonder that the restaurants cannot or will not match the experience. The food at Naples is mediocre at best. I adopt Dina B's remarks about the wine list, though there is something cozy about a place that still serves its red wine chilled. read more

I do not understand how Naples has such a high rating. Maybe 10 years ago, they were still a good place to eat. The sauce is always scorched. I refuse to go back there after several times in a row being served unedible food. Last time I ordered a chicken parmigiana but the chicken was nearly black with the sauce scorched beyond belief. On top of that the pasta is pre-cooked. Why on Earth when it takes only a couple minutes to cook 1 serving size, probably about the same amount of time they take to reheat the pasta. Now, we know why the pasta is mushy and overcooked. read more

Ordered the meatball heal for takeout. The sauce was good, however, in this huge half loaf of bread there was one meatball lol. I was eating all sauce and cheese. The meatball was delicious though. Juicy with good seasoning just not enough of it. I'm willing to give this place another try maybe trying something different. read more
