I have a friend who actually thinks Guinness is a good beer. I know Irish people who won't drink it and attribute it to being the "Bud Light" of their country. They do this Guinness challenge where you pay some money and then you drink 100 beers with no time limit. Then when you're done you get your name on a plaque on the wall. Pretty good way to get some fools to drink nasty beer at $8.50 a pop + $2 tip and keep spending money! That means each plaque costs over $1000!! Probably quadruple or more when you add in food. This is an Irish pub through and through. It's a little deceptive as it has a dive bar old pub feel, but really it's pretty clean and polished and most of the stuff in here is new and well taken care of to create the illusion. Which I'm grateful for. The service here is excellent. Go to Aviator if you want to experience a vast difference in service quality (bad). Staff here is attentive, fast, friendly...everything you'd expect. They're also not understaffed either. The owner is frequently available if you have any concerns or issues. He's there to make sure everything runs smoothly and is done correctly. Even when they are slammed they have extremely good service. They have an extensive Irish menu. The fish and chips are excellent as is the reuben. Bangers and Mash, Shepherds Pie, Gaelic Chicken, Scotch Eggs...everything you'd expect in an Irish restaurant and it all tastes good. A lot of people like coming here for brunch which has a different menu. I think on Monday's they have all you can eat crab legs for $50 per person...you order a cluster one at a time, not a buffet. They frequently have bikes nights and you'll see a ton of bikes during Angier Bike Fest. They charge a 3% service charge on the bill...not sure what that is for... Either way, this is a great restaurant one of the best in Angier and even the greater Fuquay and Lillington area. read more

I am in North Carolina to visit my cousin and her family. They took me to Napper's for a hand pulled, basement cooled Guinness! I think that the shepherds pie had too many vegetables in it, but the meat was seasoned very well and the mashed potatoes were delicious! I would definitely go back there for another stout on my next visit. Our server was very nice and very attentive. The atmosphere was bright and cheery and I believe everyone in our five person party had a really good time. They did have the soccer tournament on throughout the bar, which was very nice. Two of us came here on Memorial Day in search of a good burger . WOW! We nailed it! I am not usually a fan of a bar environment, but going during the day it was fine. I even saw people with little children come in. The menu is large and varied and the prices are reasonable. I was very tempted to try the fish and chips.... The tables were clean and they had different sizes and high tops. I went for a burger and there were some nice choices . I rarely eat many fries but our adorable waitress said they were good, so I went for it. SO glad I did!! My burger was cooked perfectly and I could tell with the first bite it was not a frozen patty. Exceptional!!! The fries were amazing as well. I actually ate quite a few and there were plenty to share with my family. He got a Philly cheesesteak and loved it . It looked fresh and had tons of cheese. We will be back for sure, but I will call first to be sure Nelli is working. Nelli is so helpful, knowledgeable. cheerful, attentive, professional and kind. Let me tell you, I never would have thought little ole Angier would have had a place with food this good! Our server (Avery B) was very attentive, kind, friendly and willing to entertain my shenanigans and answer all of my questions about their dishes. Even to go back to the kitchen to ask the cooks the questions a make sure my meal was just right! Give that girl a raise...5 Stars. The layout of the establishment was well and adequately decorated to fit the Irish pub theme. The ambiance was very well what you'd expect a full pub restaurant to be, but still reasonably able to hold a conversation without yelling. Now let's discuss the food. I was able to have a true Chicago style Italian Beef sandwich (yep in an Irish pub) with proper giardinara peppers which they diced finely for me upon request! If they would add just a teaspoon or two of the oil the heat would probably be just right. As for the au jus, they even provided me a bowl enough that I could dip it myself, where the bread held up extremely well. I have to mention the fries, probably the best possible fries in all of Lillington and Angier combined! My wife chose to have the Irish beef Stew, given it is a cool November evening, this was absolutely a spot hitter! It comes topped on a mound of mash and together alone would have been enough for her to eat for two days. It also comes with a side portion of the most delicious soda bread, that in and of itself was a delicacy! Truly a dish to take your time and enjoy. We finished the meal with the Guinness chocolate cake. It is decadent, glutinous and absolutely divine and large enough for three or four normal humans to enjoy. The service waitress was friendly, but she was not engaged, which made me feel like just another person coming in to buy a meal. 6 out of 10. I noticed that there was a service fee on my check. I don't know what that was for, but I didn't like it and I'm a very good tipper so they need to explain that one. Overall, the restaurant gets an 8 out of 10. My wife and I are visiting a cousin in Angier. We live in Arizona and were looking forward to a restaurant with Southern hospitality. Our cousin took us to a local Irish restaurant which was not the "Southern" restaurant that I wanted to go to or so I thought. We were warmly greeted at Napper Tandy's and seated right away. Our server, Erin Smith was friendly and very accomodating. We visited family in Ireland a few years ago and were familiar with a traditional Irish Pub and Napper Tandy's felt like being in Ireland. It is warm, friendly and a fun place to enjoy. We each had a Ruben sandwich with house made potato chips which hit the spot nicely. This is probably one of the best places in Raleigh. The staff are great very friendly. The food is amazing. They always have something going on and it's a great place to meet people. Loved my lunch here yesterday with my dad. We were seated right away and the place was packed. They offered a brunch menu, which apparently is served on Sundays from 11-2. We ordered fish and chips, a lager and a chocolate avalanche. The chocolate avalanche was delish, tasted like a chocolate martini. The fish and chips were perfect! The fish was fresh and crunchy, the fries were crispy and delicious as well. Our server Parker was wonderful along with the server who was assisting him. It's a wonderful neighborhood bar/pub/restaurant in the middle of downtown Angier, NC which in of itself is a wonderful little town. the place has a great open vibe and layout. TV's everywhere! when we were there the crowd was varied and all having a great time! I enjoyed a wonderful southwest pasta dish with blackened chicken. It was amazing. Our server was soooo attentive even though she quite a few tables. she was there whenever we even thought of making for something. Definitely a repeat for when we go visit our son! So much that service had to come from the other side of our table. It's 630pm on a Monday. Some guy stared at us obnoxiously while our bartender/server tried to smile it off. He was quite friendly with him , so I believe they knew each other. My son and I couldn't get out of table to leave, there was a man with no manners blocking the way. Kinda disappointed after reading reviews. Reuben, the meat was tough, had to pull it off sandwich to cut it, couldn't bite it. Thousand island dressing was non existent, asked for a side of it. Sandwich on the smaller side for the price. Fries. Again, with the battered. Ugh. Brewed tea, no, sir. Tea from a plastic bag. I appreciate these folks moving here to share their cuisine, but you need to get a handle on the iced tea situation in the south. Unsweetened is my preference, but even my sweet tea friends noticed an odd taste. Fresh brewed or forget it. So, go with Pepsi products or beer. Water had interesting flavor, or was it the ice? 2 lemons to mask it. Fish and chips was one large haddock filet, was ok, won't order again. They forgot tarter sauce, gad to ask. The slaw, old, tired, not crisp, fresh. Odd flavor. Another "new" restaurant in the area serves same tea, we recognized the tea urns. Grandson enjoyed the French toast sticks and eggs, but they forgot the bacon. Then brought a plate of old, dry bacon he couldn't eat. Coin toss if we'll be back. Food average. Service terrible. Ambience really good. So... We had a bad experience as our server was pretty much dead-eyed cardboard. This was clearly a person who was not cut out for the service industry or her dog, grandmother, and best friend all died in the same plane crash, and she slipped into a catatonic state. Would all be forgivable if we did not have to wait egregiously long periods of time to get our drink orders and our food. We could literally see our drinks at the bar pickup station while our server wandered around in her catatonic haze. Seriously, she was bad. Our food was not much better, as it was apparent it sat a bit for the time our server was finding herself. The wings were dry and lukewarm, and I can't even remember the other stuff, which is probably not worth remembering. The place is a nice place inside and looks pretty oldie/trendy. Ok I came here AGAIN this weekend, because my husband wanted fish and chips again. I ordered the Gaelic pasta and it was soooo good. Flavorful, hot, and a great portion size. We had the Irish cheesecake for dessert and it was perfect. Our server, Melina, was so sweet and attentive. I just had to come back and write a second review. The only thing that I found was that the music was too loud for a week night. Very roomy places tables are well spaced apart. Service was outstanding. Very attentive and helpful. For appetizers, we had the potato bombs. Very flavorful. Main course we both had the fish and chips. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the fries were crispy just right. The portions were huge. See pictures. Dessert was a carmal walnut cheese cake. Sorry, no picture. My wife dove right in. Was presented perfectly and tasted as good. Got 8 wing garlic parm wings to go. Since my last review, we have returned to Napper Tandy's multiple times. Although the restaurant has not updated its menu or added signage about the credit card fee, they have made a somewhat consistent effort to inform us before ordering of said fee. I recognize the effort although, but still feel signage/menu updates are appropriate. The food, service, and atmosphere are what draws us to this local restaurant. I personally enjoy the corned beef and cabbage which, with a couple exceptions, it done well. The wings are also very good and reasonably priced. Guinness on draft is also a huge plus. read more

Wow, we usually love coming to this place for a bite to eat. Lately we've come on Monday nights for a little footbal and I guess you need to be friends with the bartenders to get service. I honestly dont want to complain, but we come here at least once a week if not more and mondays are terrible. We tried one more time tonight hoping it would be different, unfortunately it wasn't! I had to call out to the bartender to order as we had been sitting for quite some time. Then when our food came out neither bartender came to check on how things were until we were done eating. A couple people came in and sat next to us and were served immediately, drinks and food! Bartender was friendly ti them and appeared to know them. Lee and I have always been friendly to all the bartenders there especially the young girl on saturdays! Don't know what we could have done to get shitty service on Monday nights but don't think we'll be back for MNF! I'm so disappointed! Dropped by this week while in the area house searching. I had signed up on my computer for the VIP a few days before. Typical VIP. They send the occasional e-mail with news, new menu items, etc. Only required name, e-mail and phone#. There is no APP, just sign up and they send the occasional text or email for marketing. Never looked at the website again, didn't open the website while at the dinner, didn't even look at my phone. Meal and service was good. Wife paid for dinner. A good evening. Next morning I get an e-mail from them titled "How was your dinner?" How did they know I had dinner there 12 hours previously? Only explanation is tracking my cell # even without having an App on my phone and not knowing I gave any permission to track my phone. Never saw any fine print on the website about tracking. Was not happy about this. Of course can't find a way to delete the VIP so I changed all my info with fake email and phone # and will not return. read more

This is an awesome place and an amazing addition to Angier. So this is actually Napper Tandy's second location, the first being in Raleigh, and it is so interesting, incredible, and hometown that they chose Angier, a small town, for their second location. They turned what used to be a sad diner straight out of the 70s, and one of the only restaurants in town, to an awesome, upscale, lively Tavern. The environment is old school pub meets modern industrial which is perfectly fitting for a new school Irish pub. And come on let's not forget that it's an Irish pub! Most towns don't even have an Irish restaurant, which makes this all the more amazing! The food is positively amazing! The Reuben sandwich was absolutely on point. The bangers and mash, which I generally don't like, we're quite good in my opinion and excellent in my husband's. The garlic and cheese tater tots were phenomenal. But the star of our order was the poutine! It is very difficult to find poutine. And finding one that actually has all the standard ingredients is even harder. The gravy was absolutely delicious and the cheese curds were so yummy! I don't live here but I can't wait to go back the next time I'm visiting the area! If I lived here I would probably get way too fat off of the poutine! The only real negatives, was the potato and leek soup. I have never found good potato and leek soup in the states. And sadly I was not tremendously thrilled with this one. It wasn't horrible and I did like that it was not blended so there were chunks to it. Which is always a positive because the few times you find it it is always blended. But the flavor just wasn't there. Also the house chips were a bit overdone. Also it is not the cheapest place. But you are paying for what you get: a lovely upscale place with great food. That being said it is most definitely not over priced. But it is also not super cheap. But absolutely well worth it! Came to Napper Tandy''s last night for dinner with some friends. There were four of us in our party. When I arrived, the atmosphere was hopping and the music was vibrant. Our server, Ashley was very kind and attentive to our needs throughout the night. She took our orders quickly and even made some suggestions on menu items. I ordered the fish and chips and the fish portion was HUGE! Almost as long as the plate. It was hot and very flakey. It was delicious and hit the spot as well. Others in the party were delighted with their entrees. Angier really needs a place like this and I'm glad I got to visit NT. Great service and food! I will definitely revisit! read more
