DEA used to be a strong program with a true family atmosphere. The coaches knew the athletes and…read moretheir families, and there was a sense that the kids genuinely mattered. Unfortunately, that version of DEA no longer exists. Since the sale of Full Out, the program has steadily declined. Routines were criticized as boring, yet nothing was done to improve them, and results reflected that lack of effort and direction. There are also serious concerns about how the gym is being run. Coaches have reportedly gone unpaid for months, and multiple experienced staff members have been let go. Most concerning was the firing of the athletic director just three weeks before Worlds--she was one of the only consistent, reliable coaches who showed up to every practice. Meanwhile, other coaches had outside jobs that prevented them from attending practices regularly. The program itself is shrinking quickly. Last year there were 8 teams (4 prep and 4 elite). This season that number was cut in half, and since the season ended, many athletes have already left. At this rate, it's hard to see how the gym will sustain even one strong elite team moving forward. Athlete management is another issue. There are no real tryouts for positions, and athletes are placed where coaches decide, regardless of readiness or comfort level. On my daughter's team, athletes were made to fly even when they were clearly scared, which raises concerns about both safety and coaching judgment. At this point, DEA feels unstable, disorganized, and in decline. If you're looking for experienced coaching, consistency, and a program focused on athlete development and safety, this is not the place. The only thing it still offers is a sense of familiarity--but even that is fading as more families and staff continue to leave.

What we received in return was not only disappointing--it was deeply damaging. Unfortunately, our time ended with a complete breakdown of trust, accountability, and professionalism on their part. Look at the reviews: * Children shamed, bullied, and humiliated--with no protection or empathy. * Parents silenced, brushed off, or retaliated against for voicing concerns. * Multiple accusations of intimidation and toxic culture. * A pattern of deleting or suppressing negative reviews to maintain an illusion of integrity. Favoritism runs rampant. Sloppy business practices at best. Lies and cover ups. A disgraceful lack of partnership with parents. Closed practices..... seems suspicious. I should have trusted my gut, and these reviews. Despite claiming a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, violence, and body-shaming, their actions suggest otherwise. The fine print at the bottom of their handbook may protect them legally--but ethically, it exposes a troubling truth: policies at Zenith West aren't meant to guide or protect; they're meant to shield leadership from accountability. To anyone considering this gym: Read the reviews they can't delete. Ask questions. Trust your instincts. This post isn't just for her. It's for every young athlete whose voice was ignored, whose spirit was dimmed, and whose potential was overshadowed by poor leadership. You deserve better. Went here for a kids birthday party and had mixed feelings about the place. On the one hand, it was…read morereally awesome for the kids to be able to play so freely on some of the gymnastics floor and equipment. On the other hand, it was disappointing that parents weren't allowed anywhere near the kids on the floor with them. They had an upstairs area where the parents were required to stay up there, well, that might be fine for the older kids, but I had a toddler down there, and I would feel much better being closer to her down there. But they wouldn't allow it. Also, at one point we were upstairs during the actual party time, and I went downstairs to use the restroom and was hit with a very suspicious "What do you need?", I told them that I needed to use the restroom, and it felt very weird to not even be able to walk downstairs to use the bathroom without prying eyes. I think that it was overall a fun party place, the kids enjoyed it, but they need to be less aggressive about parents not being allowed down there. And also maybe have exceptions for younger kids.

As with many places, the coach and the group dynamics can make a class great or not so enjoyable. The facility itself is quite large, with gymnasts of various ages and experience levels. It's motivating for the younger kids to see older gymnasts training and to have something to aspire to. I can only speak for the Tiny & Mini Stars areas, which include four main rotation stations: the floor, bars, beams, and of course, the always-popular trampoline. It's a great setup for little ones to burn off energy while learning stretching and basic gymnastics fundamentals. Overall, the staff has always been friendly, though enthusiasm can vary from coach to coach. I do wish the facility was kept a bit cleaner; I've noticed food and trash left around the parent seating area. I also observed that there seem to be only two restrooms available. Despite these small concerns, we enjoy it here and plan to continue coming.

Upon Googling "ninja classes," we actually found a Groupon for Ascend Gymnastics in DuPont. I called that location, and they suggested we try the Olympia location for three reasons: 1. It was closer to our home. 2. The Groupon would work there. 3. Coach Maty was there, and he is apparently the best ninja coach they have. We're still in the Groupon discounted period, but as soon as it's over, we'll be signing up for regular lessons. The program has been challenging but fun, the coaches have been friendly, and the office staff have been helpful. The facilities are huge, clean, and in good shape. I especially like the viewing area for parents to hang out in. There is free WiFi and private, free parking.

Think twice before you trial any competitive program here…read more Our daughter spent two years on team and almost quit the sport entirely. In her last season she experienced retaliation from a coach, emotionally immature leadership, and conduct that violated their own handbook. When concerns were raised by multiple families, ownership declined to meet and responded with: "We believe we can move forward from here and work towards a positive season." Our daughter was eight years old. She lost confidence. She lost skills. Schedules changed constantly. Classes were added mid-season at an extra cost because, in their own words, they had too many girls to teach new routines at once. The list goes on. If you do choose to trial, ask about attrition. We are aware of at least five or six girls leaving a team of fifteen this season alone. That speaks volumes. Competitive gymnastics demands clear communication and genuine investment in every child. You will not find that here.

The facility is beautifully updated with new equipment that is used well by the coaches to help teach the fundamentals and build a solid physical foundation. The gym is clean, inviting, and absolutely buzzing with activity. It's so fun watching all the different levels giving it their all and having a blast. We loved the coach, and watching from the observation area, I was really impressed with the caliber of instruction and serious, but genuinely kind manner. As a parent, this was a valuable opportunity for my child to try new, challenging things and also to grow in grit and confidence. We loved it! The only reason I knocked off a star is that they do mandatory rolling enrollment, basically an auto pay type situation. They allow you to opt out under certain conditions, and the staff are really nice, but it would be nice if they offered an option to do one session at a time for the beginning classes, especially.
