There is plenty of public parking nearby, the security and food lines go quickly, and you are always guaranteed a seat close to the action. Even though there are plenty of food and drink options and the entertainment is on point, I always welcome the end of an event when I can finally stretch my legs!

It's still far from my favorite venue in Nashville, but it's older aesthetics kind of evoke nostalgia more than cries of "outdated" to me at this point. It feels permanently trapped in the late 20th century for sure-- interior paintings of Kiss and Judas Priest feel recent, as if (I know the latter is still touring) those acts just played to celebrate the release of their latest classic album to teenagers who paid $20 for tickets and waited in line at the box office of the venue to do so. If you're going to be GA on the floor, this place is as good as any. If you're going to be in the stands, hope for a show that isn't completely sold out as it can get very cramped (particularly if you're on the taller side) if you have neighbors on each side. Luckily for us, the floor was full but the stands were moderate and I had room to stretch my legs + stand as wished. Sound here was surprisingly good. It's smaller inside than I remember, so most views from the stands are solid. Entry was fast this time around, staff was super friendly and welcoming. We didn't buy any concessions, so I'm not positive how much a drink will run you these days but my 8 year old complaint about $11 beers seems funny as nowadays a comparable drink at Bridgestone or the like may run you close to double that. Parking lots in the area are a bit cheaper than they are near the newer, hipper venues (like The Pinnacle, Brooklyn Bowl). All in all--not a venue I ever seek out intentionally, but one that I'll definitely go to for the right show.

The areas I the West side of Nashville were clearly defined and explained. The presentation also included the City of Franklin and its historical ties to the civil war. We went to Nashville to see a 25th anniversary performance of the music from the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou" presented by the Grand Ole Opry. While I am not particularly into country and bluegrass, my sister is, so I have seen several country and bluegrass shows, and I am always up for travelling to a new place. We flew to Nashville on Friday February 27, arriving around 11pm, so it was strictly a travel day. We had a brief layover at the San Francisco airport, which was fortunately enough time to have a late lunch/early dinner, as that was our only opportunity to eat a full meal. We stayed at Hyatt House, which was located downtown and close to many attractions. On Saturday February 28, we went to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and had an early dinner at Sedona Taphouse. We then had a quick look around the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center and one drink at The Library, a bar within the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center, before the show. Sunday March 1, our second and last full day in Nashville, we had breakfast at Kitchen Notes, located in the Omni Hotel, and then walked around the Music City Walk of Fame Park before our tour at Hatch Show Print. I grabbed a quick snack from the nearby Assembly Food Hall, and then we continued walking around the downtown area, passing by the Ryman Auditorium, which was home to the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974 (we only took a look around the outside, as we didn't have time or energy for a tour). We walked along Broadway, a street known for its neon signs and honky tonk bars, and then across the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. We had a nice dinner at Sixty Vines, then walked down Music Row, although there wasn't much to see in the evening. We went back to the Assembly Food Hall and had a drink at Dolly Wines, a bar serving Dolly Parton wines, before heading back to Broadway to check out the neon lights at night. We went into Lainey Wilson's Bell Bottoms Up, but being 10pm on a Sunday, they were closing up, so we purchased our drinks and took them downstairs to Bayou Keys, where we caught the last half hour of the duelling pianos performance. Monday March 2, we had a 4pm flight, so we had time to check out the East Nashville area. We had lunch at Joyland and walked around the neighbourhood, looking at the murals in the area. I was also able to complete an important task -- mail a package to my friend in Maryland. On our way back to Vancouver, we had a three hour layover at the Denver airport, which was enough time to relax and grab dinner at Elway's Taproom & Grill. I loved my trip to Nashville and would not hesitate to go again, but it's not a city in which I would want to live. The worship team was outstanding, and the presence of God was undeniable. This is a Bible-believing, Spirit-filled church with a clear heart for discipleship--growing believers, sharing the gospel, and raising up men and women who boldly preach the Word. They stand firmly on truth, acknowledging sin without compromising Scripture, yet they love people deeply through Christ. That balance--truth and love--is rare in many places today. It is easy to see why this church is growing. It was a sincere pleasure to attend, and may God continue to bless this church, their pastors, and the entire worship team. Unbeknownst to us, we had a massive water leak at our meter. Then one day I received a text saying a service rep would be there in 30 mins. Metro Water Services took it upon themselves to come out and take a look, found the issue and FIX it on the spot. Demetrius Garrett was professional and fast. He explained the process to me and ensured me the bill would be adjusted. I then followed up and spoke to Brian #37 who took the time to make the billing adjustments right then and there. No waiting for the 'process' to catch it and fix it. These guys couldn't have been better!

I would like to commend the work of Travis, a metro water meter employee…read more We had had a mailing to let us know a crew would be checking our meter and water supply line several weeks ago. Indeed, they came last week and opened the front yard water meter. They left a notice that we should probably have a plumber check our personal water pipes on our side of the water meter. We opened the water meter area and it was full of water; The meter could not be seen or read. We called Metro Water and the service man was Travis. We explained to him that our water bill has remained stable for at least the past year; we checked. Travis, bailed out the water, checked and discovered that the water meter needed replacing. He did the work and the meter was accurate, in that, it did not "run" while all of our water was turned off in the house. We are so grateful that Travis was our service person who accurately diagnosed and repaired the problem. -Happy Metro Water Recipient :)

I had some business in Part IV Chancery, so my wife and I took a trip down to the Metro Courthouse…read more I worked there as a lad and, later, practiced law in those Halls of Justice from 1981 to 2003. Boy has the place changed since then!! We parked in the underground, multilevel parking garage. Totally new, this was a major improvement over the small, above-ground parking lot. An elevator took us to the outside level. The handicap ramps, which we had trouble finding, were hidden for aesthetic purposes. When we reached the doors, we were walking were Mayor Ben West met Diane Nash and thousands of demonstrators on 14 April, 1960. Their conversation was the beginning of the end of segregation in Nashville. Once inside, WPA murals decorated the walls of each side of the hall. The artist was supplied as part of Roosevelt's New Deal. We took an elevator to my destination. The brass trim decoration each elevator was Art Deco. More surprises when we reached the fourth floor. The entire area had been totally redone. The walls were bright and cheery. The hallway seemed more open than when I left it. As to the courtrooms, all Chancery Courts were still there. The Probate Court,where I clerked was still there. After my hearing, we went to the Snack Bar on the lowest floor. It too had been redone and now was mostly collection of vending machines, a thankful replacement. We then grabbed our gear and hurried home, past those two cast bronze fountains with their cooling spray. Now to rate the Nashville Metropolitan Courthouse. The front picnic area with its multilevel underground parking was light years of its predecessor. The interior,with its WPA murals and brass Art Deco decorations, was worth the price of admission. All the metal detector operators were- surprise- helpful and friendly. The walls of the fourth floor were bright & cheery and the Chancellor's courtroom was was totally up to date. The bridge itself feels open and welcoming, perfect for a leisurely stroll, a thoughtful moment, or an iconic photo op. It's peaceful yet energized, a great way to experience the city from a fresh perspective and soak in those Nashville vibes. Whether you're there in the early morning calm or with the city lights aglow at night, this bridge is a must see and absolutely earns five stars. The bridge connects Two Rivers Park to the Nashville Greenway, and offers gorgeous views of the Cumberland River no matter the season. The bridge also provides a great backdrop for photo ops of all kinds. Every time I am on the bridge, there is some sort of photo shoot going on whether it be amateur or professional, and I bet the photos turn out amazing! Getting to the bridge can seem tricky, but best bet is Two Rivers Park, which leads you right to the bridge from their main lot just off of Briley Parkway. It's a landmark of the start and end of all my walks from Two Rivers onto the Greenway, and I enjoy crossing it any chance I get!

If you're walking around downtown but want a…read morebreak from all the noisy tourists, just walk across the pedestrian bridge and there you are, right there in the park. There's a nifty little elevator you can use to get from the bridge to the park too. It's well-lit but a bit dirty/smelly. But it looks cool! They also have outdoor concerts here occasionally. Usually just local bands--the big names are at Bridgestone Arena and the Ryman--but the smaller name bands are often better anyway! No seating, so bring a blanket. There's also a little picnic area right by the box office under the bridge. This is no fancy park with tons of nature, but it isn't supposed to be. It's a great balance between a park and urban life. Once you're ready to get back into the city, just walk back across the bridge and you're downtown again! I love the view of the Nashville skyline from this park too. 100% recommend.
