Our family mainly utilizes the children's section, which is large with a variety of activities for kids beyond books and periodicals. They have a few coloring and craft stations set up, as well as computers. The sensory room is our favorite! It's separate from the rest of the children's area to allow for quiet play or reading. It's a great spot for babies and toddlers to play! There's also fenced in courtyard with a few kids' playhouses and plenty of seating to enjoy time outside in nice weather.

Just Go (#31) We…read moreenjoyed our time visiting the Great State of Tennessee not once but twice within two months of each other. The first time we were in TN was during the July 4th weekend. We covered a lot in two days including: Cades Cove - Great Smoky Mountains National Park [Townsend]. This cove is a showcase of some of the most inspiring natural and cultural treasures from the Southern Appalachian mountains. We did a self-guided driving tour on this 11-mile long road on Cades Cove Loop. NASHVILLE We stopped to see the oldest restaurant in TN (since 1907)-- Varallo's Chili Parlor and Restaurant. It was temporarily closed due to Covid. Although the Varallo family no longer owns the restaurant the legacy lives on and would love to go back to try their legendary chili one day! Parthenon - wow! this was cool to see, a full scale replica of the real Parthenon in Athens Greece! We arrived just as they were about to close and bummed we didn't get a chance to see inside the museum. I'd love to see that 42-ft statue of Athena that I read about. Located in Centennial Park. Grand Ole Opry - we visited during covid year and the theater was temporarily closed but outside had country music playing and we took the opportunity to take some photos with some props outside the theater. Cooter's Museum - if you enjoyed watching the Dukes of Hazzard TV episodes in the early 80's you will truly love this place! This is Nashville's one and only "Dukes" museum and shop. All the original cars from the show are in display, yes, including Daisy's Jeep, Dixie, and Bo and Luke's General Lee. The museum is FREE and operated by none other than Cooter himself (Ben Jones)! Haunted Old South Pittsburg Hospital - you know we had to include a little ghost hunting in our adventures so we took a little detour to check out this old hospital located at the foothills of South Pittsburg mountains. It had a colorful past and over the years since they closed there have been reports of hauntings and paranormal activity... the hospital was closed but we stopped by twice, once each in the nighttime and daytime. Creepy! MEMPHIS Graceland - we visited Elvis' mansion twice! When my mom saw my photos from our July 4th visit she wanted us to take her there so we came back two months later and took her during Labor Day weekend. We had a chance to see Elvis Presley's final resting place at the Meditation Garden. I learned so much about The King of Rock and Roll, it even got me listening to his songs for awhile LoL! Sun Studio - ran out of time but we wanted to take a tour of this historic site. We didn't get a chance to tour upstairs but only had time to go inside the store and check out the souvenirs and merchandise. This recording studio is the birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll and home to the "Million Dollar Quartet" -- Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King and Johnny Cash. So cool just to even be here! National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel - seeing this motel turned museum gave me chills. The museum was in operation but was near closing for the day so we didn't get a chance to see Room #306 where Dr Martin Luther King Jr spent his final hours. Outside of the room was a wreath and just below were vintage cars that represented the vehicles parked at the Lorraine Motel when Dr. King was killed. Beale Street - wow wow wee waa!!! If you're visiting Memphis this is a must stop. This is one of the most iconic streets in America. Three blocks of restaurants, shops, nightclubs in the heart of downtown Memphis. It is closed off to traffic. We enjoyed listening to some jazz, blues and rock 'n' roll music and watch street performers. We celebrated July 4th in Memphis and had a late lunch at the Blues City Cafe, we had one of the best BBQ ribs we've ever tasted!! wow, yes! drooling... Memphis HOP (hop-on, hop off) - not the best tour experience we've had but it was the only hop-on, hop-off bus tour they had available at the time. We did see places of interest in which we returned to driving on our own later on including the Lorraine Hotel. That wraps up our two day trip in TN and definitely not enough time to see all we wanted to see but totally a fun experience during our short visit! TN is our #31st state to visit. Tennessee is a bit of an overrated state in the sense that it's elongated and takes a long time to drive across and there are some very beautiful parts - but it gets a massive number of tourists, especially to Memphis and Nashville, when there are many other states that are just as excellent as Tennessee, and some of them even a little bit moreso, which get only a fraction of the tourists. Certainly they have done a great job of promoting their cities, especially Memphis and Nashville for the music. Of the two, Memphis definitely has more soul and more history but is a lot more sleepy and has more crime. Nashville on the other hand is a Boomtown. It's twice the size it was a decade ago and people are flocking to it. It's a much more White City and is way more Country to the Memphis Blues which are out of fashion with young people today. I don't know why Country is in fashion, but you can look at Republicans and Donald Trump for that - I mean they love the polarization and they love making sure that the young people are into the Country and as brainwashed as possible. They play both sides, honestly. Liberals are just as misled. Don't get me wrong. For food there is plenty of amazing stuff in Memphis and Nashville can be hit-or-miss but there are some real amazing hits in the town. For nightlife there is only one place to go in the whole state and that is the Center of Nashville, right along Broadway, which is one of the most exciting and sexy streets in the whole country on any given night. It's a little busier and more touristy than it used to be but it's always been a center of everything and it still is. The East End of the state is much quieter and Knoxville Johnson City and Chattanooga are all low key towns even though Knoxville is a massive city. Eat at Hattie B's, trust me. The hot chicken sandwich. Wow. Also try a lot of the Memphis BBQ like One And Only (Ribs), and in Nashville try the sensational Brisket at Mitchell Deli. Tennessee is an iffy state. It has some amazingly musically flavoured cities in Nashville and Memphis. The girls in Nashville are second to none. So good looking and ridiculously over the top sexy. In a Caucasian, Country Way. Memphis has a lot of soul and a lot of depressing neighbourhoods and a lot of depressing crime statistics. Chattanooga is pretty but small. Knoxville is a big city but a forgotten big city that nobody really talks about or knows about or visits. Jackson is a medium-sized City that not even I really know about. The most I've ever done there is pump gas. All in all I would say Tennessee is a mystery and a mixed bag. Has some staunch Republican attitudes in different places and the Wilderness is very very right-wing. Combining all my good experiences with all my bad experiences here and some of the racism I've heard here (the cop that famously pulled me over and his first words: You Mexican, boy?) I will have to lower to a four-star. Now it's time for me to go pitch a Tenn-t.

This area was once known as the Old Hickory Triangle, a commercial spot in the Old Hickory…read moreneighborhood from the 1920s to the 1940s. It was purchased by Nashville Parks and Recreation, who opened a park on the property in 2013. The land was developed into Veterans Park, which is managed by the Veterans Memorial Park of Old Hickory nonprofit group that works to specifically honor veterans from the 37138 zip code. The organization has ceremonies on every Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Itself, it is a small plot of land, at only less than half an acre. It has a gazebo, and many plaques commemorating various sets of Old Hickory neighborhood veterans from different wars. There's a lot of charm parked into this pocket park, and it will pull a patriotic string on your heart.

In the summer of 2022 me and my buddy Jeremy visited downtown Nashville for and event. While in the downtown and surrounding areas we explored the numerous offerings that Nashville has to offer. Centennial Park had numerous great works inlcluding this piece The piece itself is pretty basic. But a large stone structure and a placard explaining that James Robertson is the Founder of Nashville. Overall it's always cool to discover public art and the nearby surrounding area had some really cool pieces to check out.

We stayed almost an hour. While there are more play amenities at the downtown Main Library, the book selection is as good or better for children. The books are generally in better shape, as were toys to keep the kids occupied while you browse or check out. Overall, it was less crowded, cleaner and quieter. If you're on this side of town, stop in and stay a while.

Avoid the lines on Nov 8th and vote early!…read more I went in around 10:30am and back in my car in 15 mins. Where to go in the library to vote is clearly marked. No one was in line when I walked to the voting area. The booths weren't as private as I would have liked but the screens were easy to read and the process was understandable.
