I hired Nashville Upholstery (also known as Mobile Leather Repair) to install Katzkin leather in one of our work trucks. I explicitly told the owner Ben that I wanted the leather to match the armrest color and sent a photo for reference. When I picked up the truck the leather was the wrong gray matching the original cloth instead. My text messages clearly showed the requested color but Ben was rude and dismissive. The installation was sloppy with loose fitting leather and scratches on our brand new truck's cupholder that Ben initially refused to fix. He never showed a leather sample before ordering or installing. When I said I would dispute the charge and leave an honest review Ben threatened to post fake reviews about our business. He followed through and left a fake Google review on our page despite never doing business with us (screenshot available). My attorney also contacted the law firm Ben claimed was representing him. They had no record of him as a client. Update 1: After I contacted Katzkin directly they replaced the entire leather kit at no cost and sent it to a different much better installer in the Nashville area. The new seats are perfect and match exactly as originally requested. Update 2 (November 2025): Nashville Upholstery refused to pay for the damage their employee admitted causing in writing so we filed in Davidson County General Sessions Court. The judge ruled completely in our favor and entered a $1000 judgment plus court costs against the owner Ben. When we went to his shop to collect the court ordered judgment (which is legal) Ben refused payment and became verbally abusive. We are now enforcing the judgment through the Davidson County Sheriff's Office and Ben will be placed into custody over $1000. Court documents, text admissions, the fake review he left on our business, and all related correspondence are available. Katzkin ultimately made everything right but the experience with Nashville Upholstery / Mobile Leather Repair was completely unacceptable. There are many reputable Katzkin authorized installers in middle Tennessee. This shop should be your last choice. I got my 2004 Toyota Camry driver's seat fixed. The before and after are in the review. The color is slightly lighter and the texture is also slightly different but it still looks good. When I first contacted them they said they could fix the seat in a few minutes but when I went in they said it would take much longer than that so I couldn't get it done that day l. Next time I went in I got it done and less than three weeks later a hook on the side of the seat came undone and I had to go back in for them to fix it. They then said when I got there they weren't sure if they would be able to get it done that day. Obviously the person I was texting with wasn't communicating with the employees there. Then after coming in a fourth time they were able to fix the side of the seat free of charge which was good because I payed a little over 400 dollars for the seat repair. Their communication wasn't good at all considering I had to go in there 4 times rather than 1. Also the hook coming undone is unfortunate since they charge for how much they did. There is a picture in the review showing what it looked like after the side of the seat came undone. Update: Later in the day after I posted the review I got texts from him that he initiated. According to other reviews I'm not the only one who has experienced this type of customer service from them. I told him I wouldn't contact him anymore like he requested but he continued texting back after. Like I said in the texts he couldn't help himself but continue to insult and make jabs at me. My experience with Mobile Leather Repair. ******************************************************* I feel compelled to publicly disclose my profoundly unsatisfactory experience with 9 pieces of custom shade cloth I ordered from Ben Swanson at Mobile Leather Repair on 4th Avenue. The pieces I received were not just poorly made, but also totally unacceptable due to major errors in measurement on every piece. This experience left me feeling not just frustrated, but also empathetic towards others who might be taken advantage of in a similar way. Ben clearly gave me a price of $75.00/hour only to increase that to #100.00 /hour on completion. The total cost was an outrageous $1920, with me supplying the material. I had the same pieces done at Nashville Tent & Awning for $275.00., and superbly done by this highly respected company. Ben lied again when I demanded a refund, poignantly pleading near total insolvency. A search of records , available to the public, was quite revealing, showing his plea to be a total fabrication. On a repeat demand for reimbursement, not including very significant charges I had incurred, he initially offered to pay in cash, then reneged again, promising to call back after he discussed it with his lawyer. I have been unable to reach him since. I am suspicious of this shop's grand reviews. I found it interesting to look at Ben's responses to unfavorable reviews. I don't normally do this, but I just got a call by the owner of this company Ben, which was the most unprofessional call I think I have had in years. A little background: I wanted to get my 944S seats repaired and reupholstered. I had one that was intact and the other middle cushion was in pieces (basically destroyed). After an initial call and estimate of around $1200 a seat + $400 for install, everything appeared to go well, I was asked to come by the shop and pick out leather. I brought the seats (and the back seat rest because I was so excited) just to make sure they wouldn't have any trouble and understood the job. This took 2 hours of my time to drive to this shop and pick out leather and I was excited the whole way! After visiting and speaking with a wonderful guy named Vlad that was super energetic and helpful (I think he might be the one actually keeping this business afloat), I was told that Ben would call me to confirm the job. Here is where it went sideways, I didn't get a call after a few days so I called back, got a text response that they were going to "pass" on this job. Confused, I wanted to know why and texted "was it because of the cushions?" Ben called me and was hostile because he thought I insulted him or his shop. I wanted to see what they could do (I never used them and only found their info online, if you are planning on getting the ENTIRE car done, why not start with the seats, then do the back and finally the carpet) and honestly, most of this was so I could save another $1500-$3000 in the next couple of months but he took this as some type of slap in the face. I explained it wasn't, but he kept getting more hostile. I told him that it was UNPROFESSIONAL to tell me that I was belittling him, he then went off and said they have much bigger clients than to spend time on this job. Finally, I had enough and yelled back at him that I needed to save up more money to get the back seats done! (Thank you for making me feel horrible because I can only pay for the front seats right now) he then hung up on me. After texting him back that this was one of the most unprofessional calls I have had in years, his response tells me everything... he texted back "I'm sorry, I hope you find someone to do your seats. 60% of customers will bankrupt your business. Excellent experience. The front seat of my Mercedes GL was torn and frayed, plus stained on the top and side. Based on the pics on his site, I decided to give Ben a try. He gave me a reasonable quote based on the pics I sent him and showed up the morning of our agreed appointment. When I got home that night I was floored. I had a great experience with Mobile Leather Repair. I was referred to them by Cool Springs Upholstery because my request was specifically for my car. I needed my two front seats completely reupholstered and my full back seat revitalized/reconditioned. John was an excellent communicator, letting me know what my options were for the job, when the deliveries were expected and when he was arriving/leaving. His work was top-notch and he was very graceful when I asked for some additional work on one of the seats. My 1986 Mercedes 560SL needed some repairs on the passenger seat and armrest which had split. I figured I would need to replace both seats and the armrest so they'd match but when Ben came to look at it he gave me great news. He could order the Mercedes leather and just replace the seat bottom and armrest and then dye all the other parts to match. My experience with Mobile leather repair can be summed up by looking at the enclosed pictures of the full price paid install done on customer supplied white leather interior for my classic BMW M6. Inferior brown leather was substituted and dyed for various parts of the seats, rips were not repaired, and seams were sewn crookedly. No explanation was ever given for any of the defects except Mobile Leather's owner explained my various complaints by calling me "A Bad Customer". Ben did an excellent job on the repair of my leather seats. I use him for all my leather repairs.

What started out fined ended up as a DISASTER. When the owner of Mobile Leather Repair said "Yeah get lost We're not going to drive to bum f*** (he spelt it out) every time you notice an issue with your beat up ass seats" In November I received pricing from Ben on either a repairing or new front seats for my truck. Decided we would try the dye and repair. John was available to come out to do the repair we were gone all day so we left the truck outside. When we got back it was the next day before we noticed the tear on the driver side was missed. Told John he said yeah he missed it and he did come back out and did fix the repair. I was not there but my wife was and the repair looked good. We were very happy at that time with Mobile Leather Repair personnel and the following up. Around February we started to notice the dye on both of the front seats were peeling off. I texted Ben and he had me text John and after a few months, the end of April on a Monday, John came back out and peeled off the old dye and reapplied the new Dye. John was very professional and courteous this was the first time I met with John. I asked him about replacing the seat with new leather. John said he would get with Ben and he (John) would get back to me with pricing. I let truck set for a couple of days and when I went to drive the truck on Wednesday May 2nd I noticed the old tear on the side was back. I texted Ben to advised the tear was back, I said "I wanted to get it fixed" The text I got the back from Ben was as follows. "Sorry we've gone over and beyond on your beat up seats. Go buy some new leather. I texted back saying John had said he was going to talk with you (Ben) about cost of a new seat. Ben texted back "Nope we're done. Please don't contact me again" I said Seriously. Ben reply "Yeah get lost We're not going to drive to bum f*** (he spelt it out) every time you notice an issue with your beat up ass seats" I replied Sorry, nice way to deal with a customer I spoke with John about seat replacement so thanks. Ben reply "Should have done that 4 trips ago" I replied with it was only 3 end of conversation. I hoped Ben could see the first time was to dye the seats, 2nd time to fixed the missed side tear, the 3rd time to fix the peeling and we then talked about replacing the seat. I am not sure why it is called Mobile Leather Repair if they do not want to drive out to do the repair? I understand Ben may have been frustrated but I do not believe that was the way to handle the situation. or a way to win new customers or maintain a current one read more
