This a beautiful drive between Murfreesboro and Nashville. It's like the blue ridge parkway without much mountains. The Jackson falls are nice and not much of a walk from the parking. The first time we went the falls were pencil thin. The 2nd time it had rained hard and they were much bigger. Worth the trip.

Natchez Trace is one of my favorite past times. I would come here as a kid and we would swim here in the summers. Since then, I have not really had the chance to return until recently when I was home visiting my family and friends for a week. My bestie and her family were coming here with some other friends for the 4th to July to swim and grill out. She invited me along, and naturally I couldn't say no. A day in the lake with some sun and good food? Absolutely! This is a free park with no admissions for coming to experience. If you want to stay overnight in the campsites or RV parks that is a different outlet you have to pay for, respectively. It is a huge park with lots of trains and water for the outdoorsy type to experience. We loved swimming in the lake. There is a roped off water area that is secured, but unsupervised by lifeguards. Swim at your own risk. Park rangers are routinely going through the park to make sure that everyone is on their best behavior. We witnessed a couple of rednecks getting in trouble because they were boozing on the bed of their trucks with the music blaring unnecessarily. They also went above and beyond to holler at every passing female who looked above the legal age. Nonetheless, there is some of that here, but that kind of goes with the part of Tennessee you're in too. This is a good quality park that is open to everyone. If you want to bring your kids for a nice time in nature and to detach from your cell phone - this is the place to do it. You won't get cell service once you're inside the park. Just be aware of that when you try going into the woods for an adventure. Don't get lost and pay attention to the signs! Take this from someone who experienced this when trying to find her friends inside the place. Happy camping and swimming!

Absolutely gorgeous! We arrived mid-week for one night. We stayed in campground 1 space 10. Only one other camper here that we could see probably due to the Rona. The temperature was perfect in the 70's and cooler at night. The lake is beautiful with a beach and long boardwalk. Cute cabins for rent with lots of privacy for each. The bathrooms and showers were spotless as was our campsite. You can buy wood from the host. It really was the top campground we have stayed in in West Tennessee.

Natchez Trace State Park is located at 24845 Natchez Trace Rd, Wildersville, TN 38388, and is named after the Natchez Trace, a wilderness horse and buggy trail that spanned from Nashville to Natchez, Mississippi, and was used for hundreds of years. This park has over 45,000 acres of land was was purchased during the New Deal after the Depression, because the land was no longer viable as farm land. The government buying the land from poor farmers who couldn't get use of it anymore saved the people in this community. It has picnic shelters, horse stables, a hotel, cabins, camping, meeting rooms, a restaurant, 23 miles of hiking, boating, fishing, and a museum. Trails include the Cub Lake Trail (4.8 mile loop), the Fairview Gullies Trail (.45 mile loop), the Fern Trail loop (1 mile loop), the Oak Ridge Trail (.8 mile loop), the Pin Oak Trail (1 mile one way), and the Red Leaves Trail (40 mile loop... YES, 40 MILES!).

Review is for Natchez Trace Equestrian Center - What a great, fun event! We took the 45 minute guided horse trail ride ($18 pp). There were 3 in our party, paired up with a family of 4. The trails were slopping, shaded and extremely peaceful. Arrive early, bring a picnic & enjoy your snack with dozens of hummingbirds flying overhead. All the horses are gentle and well cared for (and if all the riders follow the few, easy instructions, the ride will be fun & effortless, if however, you get stuck with a group of brain dead bottom-dwellers, you & your horse might get a bit bored/aggravated) NEXT TIME we will make reservations, go on a weekday & just have "our krewe". The guides are friendly and patient. This is a winner, not to mention, after the ride you can go swimming, paddle-boat, fish, volleyball etc at Cub Lake! (review by Juicy)

First time camping best experience I've had outdoors. Weather was perfect people are friendly area is safe. The woman in the front was awesome very helpful let us drive look for a spot we wanted before we paid. I would definitely do this again. Bonus the restrooms are very clean. Getting a spot by the lake is alittle more expensive but for under 30 bucks it's worth the view in the morning.

This is the most boring state park I've ever been to out of around 25 TN state parks (and several…read morein KY and SC). However, I say this as someone that loves to hike and usually long distances. I drove here from Franklin, TN. The drive is around three hours. It was a bit aggravating as 95% of the way here was one lane roads that will get you stuck behind semis going 15-20 under for 15-20 miles. SR-432 is littered with potholes and desperately needs redone. Also, for reference, it's June and 94 degrees in Greenfield, TN. I chose this state park because it's a hot day and I knew my dog couldn't be out long. It was worth it in a way for me because I'm trying to visit every TN state park ‍ Keep in mind that there are only two trails at this state park, both paved (well one is a boardwalk so wood I guess). I started at the visitor center which was closed and had no posted hours. I noticed the park was pretty empty, only one other car and I didn't end up seeing any people here. I went at 1 pm on a Tuesday for reference. There were some t shirts in the visitor center. If you park at the visitor center and walk behind it towards wooden signage, you will get to the boardwalk trail. There isn't a map of the trail at the start, but there is some history info that's somewhat legible if you can squint past the wealth of bird poop. Once on the wooden boardwalk, it's pretty and well taken care of. There are plenty of spots to sit, but also a million mosquitos so I didn't want to stop moving for long (I forgot to put on bug spray). Just a little bit into the boardwalk there is construction and there weren't any warnings at the beginning that the trail was closed past a certain point. The water around the trees was mostly dried up from the heat so it might be better to go when it's not hot or after a lot of rain. You can hear birds here, but the only wildlife I saw was a small lizard scurrying across the boardwalk. I then went to the picnic area parking and ate lunch. It was a nice little spot to eat lunch and there are tons of benches and tables around this area, some more tucked away. Park bathrooms are so hit or miss, but this bathroom is nice. It looks newly renovated and it was clean and cold inside. I walked the trail after. It wasn't anything too exciting, but it was a storybook trail and the story was legible throughout the entire trail so good for kids. It was more shaded than the boardwalk, but you might find a tick on you after this one. There's a basketball hoop, a playground, and lots of those little park grills. There are paper maps available by the picnic area parking. As for dog friendliness, there aren't poop bags and the refillable dog water bowl is broken and gross. However, there is a faucet next to it with a half broken concrete divot that will hold enough water long enough for your dog to drink water. I would be careful where your dog steps though and don't let them lay down because there's a jagged piece of unmovable mesh wire poking up. There's a little garden, but I will say it's hard to tell what plants are what because there are so many weeds. Overall, an underwhelming state park that you might just have to visit in order to check it off your list.

Nice place to spend the day . Trails are good . Playground and clean restrooms. Great place to…read morepicnic.
