Nate the Great's really is great. The owner, Nate, has been cutting my hair for nearly 10 years. He also cuts my wife's hair and both of my children's hair. I am always satisfied with my haircuts as well as everyone else in my family. The salon is very kid friendly. There is a television with netflix available and each of the stations have a tv and video games. There is also a play area to use while waiting. I always suggest and recommend Nate to anyone looking for a new stylist, he and his team are great for adults and kids. read more

I would give this establishment negative stars if I could. This man should NOT be working with children! He has no patience with normal children's behavior. He is rude to parents and children. I have had haircuts for my children here previously with the woman working for Nate and she was excellent. AVOID NATE! My husband had his hair cut with my son as a "father/son" cut package. Nate called my husband a "salon whore." I was appalled! His lack of professionalism is astonishing. Stick to kids adventure cuts or ANY other establishment. Nate is fantastic! Very accommodating! I had to cancel due to illness and he made time on his day off to see me and my daughter! Two days ago, we decided to take our toddler son for his first haircut. We stopped by Nate The Great's Kids Kutz on Sandy Bottom Road. He had just opened his shop for the day. He was very nice and introduced himself. I then showed him a picture of what I wanted my son's hair to eventually look like (as his hair hasn't fully grown in but was hanging in his eyes, nonetheless), he said, 'That's terrible.' I thought he was just joking around. I assume my face gave away my surprise and he then said, 'I'm serious. I wouldn't do that to my kid. It's horrible.' He then passed me along to his stylist by stating quite flippantly, 'Yeah, she wants like an old-school bowl cut. Like really bad old-school. You know, like a old-fashioned 80s cut.' I thought it may have been just him with an attitude, but then the stylist was shown the picture and said, 'I'm not a fan of this hair cut, but if that's what you want....' I said very loudly, 'Well, I don't want your usual: fade and a Mohawk with colored streaks for my one-year-old. Thanks anyway.' The hair cut was exactly what I wanted, but the unprofessionalism is exactly why I will never go back. read more

Only giving 4 stars because we don't know what it's like with people waiting. Fantastic service. First time going and only people there at the time they were opening their door. Daughter has sensory needs but did amazingly well here. It was not loud or a disorganized mess. We usually go to KAC however, with their price hike and no longer offering their cut card, we have found alternatives. My Daughter's haircut was the best she's had in a while! I thought Nate did a fabulous job cutting my 4yo sons hair! I let him know certain things he does/doesn't like during haircuts and he had no problem managing my son. I trekked down from Pawtucket today because of the good reviews. The facilities were nice, but we waited for 20 minutes before the stylist informed us that he couldn't deal with my daughter's curly tangles. He proceeded to suggest (in front of a room full of others) that I brush her hair, as if I hadn't ever thought to tame her hair on my own. This is probably a fine place for kids with easy hair, but if your child has curls, go elsewhere. read more

I don't really write reviews usually, but this place is such a hidden gem, I wish some one had told me about it sooner. Nate the Great's is fantastic. My 18 month old has a ton of hair that grows really fast and he hates sitting still for anything. I brought him to Snip-its for the first few haircuts and it's always been a challenge. This last time, I tried Nate's on a whim while driving by. It's beautiful inside. There's a large play area with toys and books, but we hardly waited at all. There's a really nice video monitor at the chair that kept my toddler entertained for much longer than any of his other haircuts. Nate was awesome. He gave my toddler the best (and also fastest, which is so helpful for us!) haircut he's had yet and he was really patient and nice. I was so impressed and am very relieved that I have some place where I feel much more comfortable taking my squirmy, fussy toddler for haircuts! Thank you so much!! read more
