Very highest quality haircut. Super professional…read more Not a real Barber shop in that they are now heavily reliant on appointments. You can go in the shop and see two people ahead of you and think you are good. Then you realize that half the barbers are only taking appointments and the other two are taking walk-ins that signed up on the computer as indirect appointments for the next available barber and then left the shop to come back in an hour. So they are extremely busy all the time and walk-ins are a thing of the past. If you want to build your day around a very good haircut, they are excellent. They used to be walk-in and cash only. Take a number and wait. If it was crowded then maybe you stayed or came back another time. Now, you have to login to a computer, give your name and number and select from who is available for service and THEN it will tell you the wait time and schedule your appointment. Maybe. The computer is not prominently displayed, so you just have to know where it is and how to use it. All of the excellent barbers are attending their clients or studiously avoiding your gaze, so you are left to your own devices to get in the system. The place has always been busy and used the first in first out system. I am not sure what problem this system solved, but I saw several clients coming in and not knowing what was going on because it was literally an iPad laying on a counter near the now-empty number machine. It's now a hair salon that cosplays as a traditional barber shop, albeit a salon that gives a great haircut.

An exceedingly uncomfortable experience. Sue L's review is accurate (though she clearly made a…read moremistake on the rating), he was horribly rude and unprofessional. The barber took no feedback from me; when I walked in and told him how I wanted my hair done he asked if I wanted a haircut. I wanted to go pretty short after a few months of having long hair. When he asked whether that was short enough and I said no he yelled, "I already took a lot of hair off!" (F-word omitted). It was clear that he would only do my hair one way and asking for anything else was futile. He yelled 4-5 times after that. The only thing worse than his hospitality was the way he ruined classic songs with his constant singing. The haircut showed signs of skill long lost. The attention to detail was non-existent, but the cut was generally serviceable with touchups needed at home. Clayton has other options and I suggest you take them, unless you want to be ridiculed and yelled at by a senile man who should not be trusted with sharp instruments.

Just wanted to warn the community of Clayton NY about this very rude man. The business by the name…read moreof Solars Barber shop, was the worse experience we have had in a long time... it started with a phone call to make sure they would be open. The gentleman answered the phone rudely, with no respect for the customer on the other end....we really were desperate for a barber, wow what a mistake that was....no greeting as we entered the shop, sat down music was so loud. We then witnessed the rudeness to a customer that was getting his hair cute...Barber didn't care about how the customer wanted his hair cut the barber argued with this man...A few unnecessary words were said by barber...we were shocked by his behavior....Then it was my husband's turn to sit in the "hot seat" husband shared how he would want his hair cut just to be told that's not how it should be done. Again barber argued with customer....I was in disbelief!!! In the middle of the hair cut the barber stops cutting my husband's hair because the music had stopped.... Proceeding with the hair cut the situation just got ruder and the language got worse....words like taking the Lord's name in vain....Not good! Then out of now where the F bomb! Let me meantion there was another customer waitting for a hair cut but after he heard the way this man was ( barber) behaving and talking he got up and left....hey I warned him when he walked in that this barber was very rude...he seen it for himself... At the end of the haircut my husband was paying and the barber began talking crap about the gentlemen that had left...REALLY???? There were a few other things that took place while we were there but I think everyone that does read this review will get the idea what a nightmare this was.... He probably was not pleased with us for not tipping him....the next customer probably got an ear full..... And BTW the hair sucked....looked very choppy....so glad we didn't tip this man shouldn't even have paid him.....working with the general public is not where this man should be.
