We were charged for audiovisual services that were not functional when our seminar began. Staff onsite were unable to operate the equipment and acknowledged they were not trained. We had to bring in outside equipment at our own expense to keep the event going. The hotel later refunded the AV charge, but refused to cover the additional cost we incurred due to their failure. Even more concerning was the behavior of the Catering Manager, who was confrontational and unprofessional in front of guests and staff. This included a heated exchange that was visible to attendees and others present, including representatives from a nonprofit organization we were supporting. That level of conduct is not what you expect when hosting a professional event. This property has a lot of potential, but based on this experience, I would be very cautious about hosting an event here without clear assurances around on-site management.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Alexandria Old Town - April 2026…read more In planning for a 2026 visit from my sister, we focused on how best to experience the Cherry Blossom Festival in the Tidal Basin and the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. She would be arriving on Amtrak from Wilmington, and my apartment is in Old Town Alexandria, so we looked for hotels adjacent to Metro's King Street station (which serves Amtrak, the VRE, and the Yellow and Blue rail lines, in addition to several bus lines. There are several excellent hotel choices at King Street station, but one that stands out is the Embassy Suites, right across the street from the Amtrak/Metro rail station. The hotel is family-friendly, spacious, clean, and safe. There's a wonderful made-from-scratch breakfast for all guests, along with a 90-minute happy hour featuring complimentary drinks (2 per person) in the early evening. My sister's room was ready when we arrived at around 3 p.m., and as we checked her in we found the room's TV welcomed us by name. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was equipped with sustainable dispensers for the shower (no single-use plastics in the room). The room was quiet and remained that way throughout the two nights my sister stayed there. During our stay the presence of families with young children was evident - kids were clearly enjoying themselves and were exploring features of the hotel geared especially for young children. We found hotel staff members helpful, not intrusive, and alert to the needs of the hotel's guests. On the same street half a block away there's Theismann's Restaurant & Bar, which offers a full bar and a well-crafted menu of moderate- to high-priced American dishes. I've recommended nearby hotels in the past, and those recommendations remain. I can now add the Embassy Suites to the list. It offers ready access to the entire District-Maryland-Virginia region served by Metro and related regional public transit services, and is a great point of embarkation when exploring Northern Virginia and D.C.

June 2026 stay…read more Stayed here years ago. This time around was just okay. Needed a local getaway, so my Sister & Brother stayed the weekend and hung out with me 1. Parking was $40 a day in the garage next door. Supposed to be in & out priviledges. I COULD NOT use my room key card to get out of the garage! 3x I tried to exit and each time, I had to contact SUPPORT to lift the gate up. Went to the front desk after the 1st time, and they gave us 3 new room cards. the Same issues persisted time after time! Sunday when we tried to leave for massage appointments, since we couldn't get out of the garage, my appointment was canceled because I was 5 mins late, altho we left 30 mins early, for an appointment that was 10 minutes away.... fawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwk. EB did reach out and offered to credit the entire parking. 2. Breakfast was fine, except they didn't open the little dining room outside of the breakfast line, or it closed super early in the morning. Tables were packed. The first morning, we just brought our plates up to the room as there were no tables to eat at 3. Evening reception: 2 free drinks per night. The "snack" bar was pretty empty every time. Consisted of M&Ms that kids and much older adults would just put their hands in. Brocolli, carrot and celery snacks each night with hummus and vegetarian dressing. Bagged chips and mints. This was less than desired. A super long line for drinks tho, 1 bartener each night who were both very nice & patient 4. Room #743 was facing the back/side of the hotel. There was a bright light on the building infront of us that stayed on overnight, good thing for the black out curtains 5. Never saw the housekeeper. Sunday, we left at 145pm with no service, but thankfully when we returned @530p everything was cleaned. 6. There are No pens or pad in the room. I went downstairs and asked for a pen/paper and was told to bring the pen back downstairs lol 7. My brother went outside and tried to come back in @1030a on the morning we were to checkout. His card didn't work! He couldn't get back into the building, my sister had to go down and let him in. Unacceptable! I texted the Courtesy # to let them know of the issue, and that person also confirmed that checkout is at 11am. 8. When you scan the QR code at the lobby for pool information, it says it is open from 9a-930a on sundays and Holidays. The actual pool sign says until 9pm. Sharing for awareness. I uploaded a photo of what the QR scan said , as well as the physical pool information as found on the 3rd floor I would probably check out the other EB in Arlington, VA next time should I need another break in my norm. You should too!

When I attempted to check in, the clerk informed me that there was no room available for me. This was not only factually incorrect but handled with a level of dismissiveness that I found deeply troubling. Furthermore, I have since discovered that the hotel recorded my status as a "No Show." Categorizing me as a no show is a blatant falsehood; I was physically present at your front desk, prepared to check into the room I had already paid for, and was turned away by their employee. Stanley, I believe that was his name, was polite to the prior Asian customers extenuating his French accent and talking about the omelets that they can receive in the morning and checked in those customers with no mention that they were running out of rooms. When I went to check in (the French accent disappeared), all of a sudden, he stated that the hotel was overbooked and that I need to take your card to complain and look elsewhere for a room. Given that my reservation was valid and the hotel appeared to be operating normally, I am left to wonder why I was singled out and rejected. The lack of a professional or logical explanation for this denial of service raises serious concerns for me regarding potential discrimination. In all my years of travel, I have never encountered a situation where a paid, confirmed booking was ignored at the point of check-in without cause. This incident caused me significant distress and financial harm. Because I was turned away at the last minute, I was forced to secure alternative accommodations at a different hotel. Due to the short notice, I had to pay significantly more than my original booking--resulting in a direct financial loss and extreme inconvenience.

Great hotel near Dulles..... will definitely stay again!…read more I spent a week here for business and had a great experience. The hotel is very conveniently located near Dulles Airport, which made travel super easy. The rooms were spotless and nicely decorated. The amenities are excellent .There's a nice bar where I had a few drinks, watched a football game, and met some great people. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay. One of the best parts is the complimentary made-to-order breakfast and the evening reception, which includes two drinks and snacks. A nice touch that made the stay feel even more welcoming. The onsite restaurant is also a big plus. The only downside is the parking fee - $24 a day feels a bit steep. All in all, I have no complaints and will definitely stay here again when I'm back in the area next month.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Dulles Airport…read more The four of us had a 6:30 a.m. departure from IAD and would be returning close to midnight five days later following a vacation in Costa Rica. I've been a long-time Honors member and was able to use points and cash for both refundable one-night reservations. We also decided to leave my son's vehicle at the hotel rather than navigate the car park at the airport. Payment for leaving the car in the lot was through a QR code, so there's that to consider. Because I was arriving on WMATA's Silver Metro Line, I was able to use the free shuttle, which picks up at the far end of the hotel loading zone, and which arrived about 10 minutes after I called for that service. The hotel was perfectly situated for this trip. While we were departing too early from the hotel to benefit from its complimentary breakfast and arrived too late to get our two free drink tickets, our rooms were in great condition. The pool looked inviting, the common areas were clean, and the front desk staff members were uniformly polite and helpful. The hotel has evolved away from the use of single-use plastics, and they offered free bags of ice at the convenience shop - which offered snacks, beer and wine (there were no ice machines in the hotel). I could reach the shower controls without getting wet; there were hand washcloths (a vanishing feature, unfortunately), there was a night light in the bathroom (an evolving feature I really appreciate), and there was a well-placed grab bar in the shower stall. All things considered, a good choice for our purposes, at a reasonable price.

Spacious room. Two TVs were great, the room had some broken items but maintenance was quick to pick up and fix, and the staff at the desk tried to help provide supplies and make sure we were ok with the room; almost always easy to get in touch with them. Close walk to the restaurants nearby - the whole area has been built up, lots of data centers. No restaurant from what I could tell? A little pricer than the Homewood Suites next door.

Beds were comfortable . Loved the bathrooms too. Very clean .. I was "Awe'd" looking at the interiors .. lighting was just magnificent. Loved the small bar inside the hotel, but wait .. they don't serve food on Sundays ?'!!! Wish they had some finger food especially with the bar around . Service was good overall. Swimming pool and gym was ok . Parking is a bit crazy . Was full mostly and was narrow . Overall we loved the stay . Thought of giving 5 stars but due to few cons , had to give 4 stars .

I was so nervous about getting this visa given the poor reviews here, conflicting information…read moreonline about what to send in to get your visa, and the fact that we only have 4 weeks before departing to Bolivia. But. I went through all the hoops, mailed in my husband's and my passport on Monday afternoon...and got it back Wednesday by noon! That's less than 48 hours out of my hands (yes, I sent it overnight and also included overnight return postage. I also live 2 hours south of Washington, DC which helped with the speediness). But anyway, it did not take the 10 processing days, for us at least. For your benefit here are some details that may help: 1) You need to fill out the sworn statement online first and upload your various documents. I would make sure all your forms are ready before starting the statement. The website also emails you a code which you need to submit before being able to proceed with the form. For some reason, my gmail account didn't receive the code until the next day...I ended up trying a work email account in the meantime and received the code right away. My husband used his hotmail account and received the code right away too. FYI. Browser may make a difference too. 2) The online form says to upload a 3x3 passport photo but directions say 2x2...we just did 2x2 since that's standard size and it was fine. 3) We also printed everything just in case because we couldn't figure out if the online uploading of forms was sufficient. The latter probably is fine because the LA Consulate says it is...but the DC website didn't explicitly specify and we didn't want to risk having our visa application rejected. I should note that all the extra documents (and passport photos) submitted were ultimately mailed back to us - they only kept the sworn statement and money order. 4) We sent $320 as a money order which I got from USPS. It seems that you can combine the fee for the number of applicants (e.g., for us, $160 x 2). 5) We mailed it all overnight via USPS which I think is the most affordable overnighting service (don't quote me on this). The DC website doesn't confirm a mailing address - ugh - so I just used the Bolivia Consulate address on Connecticut Avenue and held my breath. It seems this is correct. I also wrote "Attn: Visas" - who knows if that really helped, but again I was so nervous about getting everything right the first time given the time crunch. And with all of this, we received our passports and visas back in a flash - phew! I am so relieved, but also feel a responsibility to tell you people of the Internet about our experience given how stressful it felt to prepare the documents correctly, and worrying that we might not get our visas in time. PS - you can only send your passport into the DC consulate if you live in certain states - check the website for details.
