I had a lapse of insurance through National general insurance auto. I went to go pay the off because there was a block on my registration, which was my fault. Stay far away from National General! After our truck-bed camper accident, they stalled for 4 1/2 months and made excuse after excuse to avoid paying out. First, they denied the tow. Then they sent a rep who lowballed us with a ridiculous offer (10% of what was eventually paid) and acted like the camper wasn't totaled -- even though it clearly was. We had to go to the Arizona Insurance Commission and deal with nonsense like being asked for a title (truck-bed campers don't have titles!). I had a brief relationship with National General. My daughter got a new car and we paid for her insurance. For 2 months payment were not pulled out on the day that was expected which caused rejections of payments. We finally got that resolved and things were good for a while. We changed insurance companies due to them being cheaper than National General. Our last payment came out on May 22nd. On May 27th we canceled our insurance with National General. One would think that we would have been given a refund for the 25 days that we did not need the insurance. Instead we did not only get a refund, but we wound up with a $94 bill on top of the payment we made. When we contacted our local insurance agent, she informed us that the $94 was from a penalty for breaking the contract with National General. One would have thought that they could have given us the refund and subtracted any penalties from the insurance. My experience so far has been less than stellar. read more

By far the worst customer service experience I've ever had. My car was totaled while both of us were making left turns as shown in the pictures. Maria Robinson was my adjuster and I informed her there were at least four businesses with perfect views of the crash on their security cameras. She said that would require a subpoena and isn't worth pursuing. After 4 weeks of waiting, she said she had me at 0% liability but AAA (other insurance) is saying 50/50. She agreed to that without a fight but didn't inform me she was closing the claim. She also blocked my number over the next two weeks and ignored my voicemails before finally responding to an email. During that stretch I personally went to each business asking them for the footage. All but one had wiped their cameras by then and the fourth, a bank, wasn't allowed to release the footage to me. I tried contacting the police again to have them receive the footage. But they said the same thing as the bank, that National General needs to send their investigator for it. Both the bank and police asked why I'm doing all the work and after explaining National General doesn't want to get a subpoena - they both said it sounds like they are being lazy and don't want to do the work. In the only email response I got from Maria, I had informed her the bank was willing to give out the footage if she reached out. However she just said to get the footage myself if I want her to review it. That was after explaining to her what the bank and police said. She then continued to block my number and ignore my emails. After three weeks of this and seven weeks since the accident, I finally reached out to the her supervisor and explained the situation. Maria called later that day but after another week of delayed back and forth, restated they aren't going to retrieve the camera footage or push AAA on their 50/50 ruling. After two months of limbo, not only do I not have my car anymore, but have had to delay my start date for the Air Force. Because this accident is now going to have me at 50% liability I will need to submit waivers to my recruiter before I can leave for basic training. I've canceled my insurance with them and would recommend any other provider, even if you have to pay more. read more

National Insurance is the worst insurance to deal with. I currently have State Farm, and someone with National Insurance hit me. They were quick to respond. They sent me a claim sheet. After a few weeks State Farm concluded the other driver was at fault; but National Insurance wouldn't accept the verdict. They said I didn't yield so they won't fix my car. End of story. I asked them how they came to this conclusion but they won't tell me anything. Since I have the most basic insurance with State Farm they told me I had to file a claim with them. State Farm told me it was 100% their fault but National Insurance wouldn't proceed with my claim. The accident wasn't big but it still dented my front bumper. The estimated cost was $1,230. Cheap insurance, Cheap results. You are throwing your money down the drain if you have National General Insurance! They uses CCC Intelligent Solutions, an entity currently facing multiple lawsuits nationwide for systematically undervaluing vehicles and misleading consumers. They have drastically undervalued my vehicle and are taking a hard line approach. The comparable vehicles cited in the report appear to be sourced from dealerships of questionable credibility, and the selected trucks do not represent fair or accurate comparisons to my truck. Many of the vehicles referenced were in significantly inferior conditions, heavily reconditioned, rusted, or otherwise compromised, making them unsuitable for use in determining a fair market value. Additionally, upon reviewing the websites of the dealerships listed in the comps, I was unable to locate the vehicles cited in the CCC report. This calls into question the validity and verifiability of the data used in the valuation. I am a senior citizen of North Carolina, and I cannot believe our state will allow insurance companies to take advantage of its residents. As admitted and shown on the police report, I was not at fault for this accident. Are we expected to let insurance companies get away with offering values much less than it takes to replace the victim's transportation and place a hardship on residents? Extremely difficult claims adjusters. I had to work with them because their driver hit my vehicle while it was parked. They refused to pay for the rental vehicle on time, causing the company to contact me and ask me to pay for it. They also refused to work well with my selected autobody shop and only paid 60% of the cost. I had to take the driver to court to get the rest. DON'T WALK...RUN AS FAST AND FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS YOU CAN... National General is a RV insurance company that everyone should avoid. Back in July 2019 I had a very close call with a semi (the driver wasn't paying enough attention and did not realize the lane he was in was closed ahead due to summer road work..I-84 between Cascade Locks and Hood River in Oregon). This driver literally had no where to go so he merged into my lane quite quickly and as I had a concrete wall on the right side of my Class A 42' motorhome... being stuck between a wall and a quickly moving semi hauling doubles is not a place I recommend for the faint of heart. National General left me sitting on the side of the road for 3 long weeks. My motorhome sustained damage in the form of a windshield the was sucked out from it's frame (yes it happens but this isn't the type of issue most drivers will ever face luckily).The semi that came very close to wiping me out (I could have touched his truck by just sticking my fingers out of my side window...yep that close) created a wind tunnel between our vehicles and pulled my driver's side windshield partially out of the frame, unfortunately being in construction zone there was no place to pull off the road so I drove my RV with a brand new skylight (yep, could immediately see light from this damaged area) to the closest exit 5 miles down the road. Lucky me the was a Walmart there (Hood River Oregon) that let me park. I called National General within 20 minutes of the incident and was told that no one could help me until Monday morning (Friday afternoon and no help until Monday because I didn't let the semi actually hit my RV...guess I know what to do next time????). I was dealing with agents and supervisors that couldn't get on the same page about the damage meanwhile my husband dies of cancer in Minnesota and I'm stuck in Oregon!!! To say I was having a bad month would be an understatement. Now today, the 17th of March 2020 they are calling me saying they just received the invoice for the repair of my RV (which actually required a replacement of both sides of my windshield due to having to drive the damaged vehicle another 300 miles to their nearest repair facility)because the RV place that fixed my rig required a authorization for all work beforehand and sent bill immediately upon completion which I had to sign to say the work was completed.
