Restaurants range from pizza/Italian, Mexican/tacos, a rooftop bar, gelato, a chophouse. There is a burger place, a biergarten, seafood. A few places that sell art and some exhibits by artists in residence. Shopping includes jewelry, cookies, outdoor/clothing/apparel, and other boutiques. A great place to walk, browse, people watch, and just relax, and is nearby the main hub of Savannah.

It is one of the two best entertainment venues offered in the oldest City in Georgia. It is secure when entering, and their Security Staff (yes, the people responsible for telling you can't, which we all enjoy immensely because we are put on the spot thinking "What do I do with it now?"), are polite, respectful, conscientious, and will put you out should you decide to act out and disrupt everyone else's excited anticipation of the event. The food, when available is OK for a quick snack at the Johnny Mercer Theater (yes, they are one in the same). However, we prefer to enjoy dinner first at one of Savannah's remarkable restaurants which are plentifully depending upon your zeal for delectable gastronomic taste experience you desire. We enjoy making an evening of an enthralling musical or entertainment experience but want to spread the responsibility for helping us make our memory which we hope will last a lifetime around so as not to burden the Artist or Artists who are inviting themselves into their world so they can express and we can experience their emotional passion for their Art! Specifically John Cougar Mellencamp and KC and the Sunshine Ban both come to mind as providing us with outstanding performances expressing themselves while getting most of our audience up and out of their seats dancing in the isles with a plethora of smiles everywhere we looked! Those are the joyous lifelong memories, after a great meal that we will treasure, forever. I realize that the Savannah Civic Center will not want to read this next comment however, I would caution you that when buying your tickets for this venue IF IT is musical entertainment to get as close to the center section of the Johnny Mercer Theater as possible. Why? Because of the acoustical sound quality. I would NEVER suggest that sitting up against either wall in the floor or bottom section as this choice is NOT recipe for an enjoyably experience. I would suggest the Balcony seats over buying seats very close or against the walls of this venue because the base sound especially is just to overpowering and drowns out the music as that is all you can feel deep in you bones while losing the remaining full range of your musical experience. However, if you are a Heavy Metal enthusiast then "to the walls you must go!" for your tickets as I guarantee you will get all you ever wanted and then some. While I am not a Structural Engineer by profession I do understand and acoustical sound quality and would humbly suggest that the Savannah Civic Center Management consider a relatively inexpensive retrofit for the Johnny Mercer Theater. First, I would suggest you install large acoustical slightly slopped half moon directional shells behind each of your speakers mounted on those side walls that run the length of your theater to move that base sound off those walls back toward the sound circulating in the venue. Second, I would remove a few seats at each of the two back corners of the Johnny Mercer Theater and install slightly sloped or curved acoustical floor to ceiling columns that are thin but engineered to reflex sound, not absorb it which in this person's opinion would help some of that sound travel around the venue. These two relatively simple retrofits of this venue would help to the sound quality throughout the hall move throughout your theater. I also feel implementing changes along these lines of thought would help your Management sell more tickets to musical entertainment at the Johnny Mercer Theater. As for those who are wondering if they want to entrust their future lifelong memories to this wonderful venue, I would strongly suggest you do because it will put a smile on your face and a song in your heart!

Tickets are good for one entry on one day. When you get in, the whole convention floor is filled with booths: clothing, food, drinks, kitchenware, art, jewelry, home goods, makeup products, and so much more. Bring a shopping bag to carry all the stuff you are going to get (for free and being sold). Also bring address labels with your name, address, phone (or email). So many booths have giveaways this will save you time filling them out! All vendors I visited took cash or card. We happened to catch one of the vendors giving a demonstration: Thorns, Roses, and Puppy Noses. They fold books into intricate designs. Definitely check out the demonstrations because you might win free things or get coupons to the business's booth. Check the schedule online to plan ahead.

My favorite part of the venue: the high bar seats behind the stage where I was able to feel super close to the band. I have not seen a venue like this before. My least favorite thing was the lack of outdoor signage on which line to get in. We winded up in the VIP/ Floor line and they were turning people away after they stood in the line for 30+ minutes as it moved up. Luckily, we were super nice as always, and they slapped some bands on our wrists and said to have fun! My FAV FAV part was how they have figured out rideshares! The staff asks the ride share who they are picking up and then call out your name. It felt like elementary school pick up all over again and worked so smoothly.

This was the first event we've ever been to at Enmarket Arena. It's about half the size of VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville which holds about 15,000 for concerts whereas Enmarket Arena holds about 7,500. Their minor league hockey team plays there as does their new women's basketball team like our Jacksonville Waves. The venue has been open for 4 years now and somehow, there are still some pain points with respect to customer service / interaction. There seem to be tiers of teams there and I can tell you this: every single person we interacted with that was wearing a blazer was rude to us for absolutely no reason. Even though we encountered more than a few folks who seemed almost mad to be working there I'd like to call out two AMAZING people that helped make our night awesome. These two folks were from other teams (not wearing blazers). First, I'd like to thank Sheila for being a warm, kind hearted person who was just a joy to interact with from the moment we got to the arena until we left. We roamed a lot, so we ran into her more than a few times. Every time we did, she was smiling, helping someone with something and being upbeat. I'd also like to say thank you to Adrienne, our go-to person at the concession stand by section 102. Like Sheila, she was warm, kind and just a very nice person. She happens to know Detroit very well so we had a great conversation about traveling around Michigan as kids. The show itself had a surprising amount of production issues, which I've never seen at a Weird Al concert. Miscued backdrop videos and delayed audio triggers happened a few times through the show, which was just odd to see. Al is a pro though, so he pushed through them without missing a beat or complaining to the crowd about it. I've included photos of us with the workers I shouted out along with a photo of Lauren talking to Weird Al after the show. If you go to the original post in our Facebook group, you'll also see a few long video clips of the opening of the show because I always love how he starts the show from backstage. Another great experience from Weird Al is in the books. Now we have to wait for Tallahassee in September before we see him again.
