I said to my husband, I'd really like to go to Salt & Straw this weekend. He said he heard me, but he got lazy and we ended up at a Yogurt Time instead. For anyone who has been to Yogurt Time, and Salt & Straw, you know that Yogurt Time is not a substitute for Salt & Straw. It could be a bandaid. A really cheap, generic brand one. Not even the Band-aid brand, but the CVS brand. And to him, he didn't think anything of it. But I, of course, thought otherwise. I wondered: What ever happened to going to Salt & Straw? Why did we get Yogurt Time, as if it's the same thing?! When there is no comparison what-so-ever. I didn't want to nag. And I realized: Why am I waiting for him to take me to Salt & Straw? I'm a grown-a&* empowered woman. I can take my own self to Salt & Straw whenever I want. And that, I did. I got the Coffee and Love Nuts (my first time with this flavor). And holy heck was that good. That night, I told my husband about my treat. I even took a picture to show him the deliciousness that was Coffee & Love Nuts. (See attached) "Why did you go to Salt & Straw with out me????" He asks I recounted the Yogurt Time. Of course he tried to defend himself. The next day, he asks me "Do you want to go to Salt & Straw?" Not because I wanted it but because now he is craving it too. We went and he got the Coffee & Love Nuts and the Gooey Brownie one. We went again, the next week. And the next week. And so on. I know, some may call this manipulation. But sometimes guys just don't know what they're missing until you go to some other Love Nut. (Just saying.. lol) Anyhow... Salt & Straw... OG from Portland. Such high quality ice cream known for their strange flavors. I will have to admit, the strange flavors can be hit or miss. So please sample before getting. I love their creativity. I love their quality. I love that they're not Yogurt Time. Hey, Yogurt Time has its time and place. But Salt & Straw? Whole other universe. Peace out.

We've since ordered picked up, gotten delivery, it just scratches an itch and flavors shift often. Some of our favorites so far have been the strawberry honey balsalmic, honey lavender, coffee & love nuts, and the sea salt caramel. They do just about everything dessert as well as support other local businesses and local farms. They have a wonderful assortment of merch you can buy and they also have a great staff of people who work for them. On this particular visit, we came in for ice cream. Their ice cream flavors are really unique and fun, with lots of flavors and textures. Tonight I tried their Sticky Toffee flavor, which was superb. I am also very partial to their Dutch Chocolate and their Earl Grey ice cream. Besides their ice cream, I've also had their pie on several occasions including ordering their pies for holidays. Dave's Ice Cream stood out on that score so we stopped by. I opted for the Macchiato Salted Caramel and my wife had a smaller Coffee Toffee. Oh my. This was totally great ice cream - rich, creamy and delicious! We savored every mouthful. On the wall they posted awards from the Sonoma County Fair, winning Best Of The Show ice cream three separate years. And my ice cream choice, Macchiato Salted Caramel, had won Best Of Show in 2025. Seven other flavors had also won awards. Dave's Ice Cream will be up there with the top ice cream shops I have visited. I've never tasted better ice cream!

The mango had chunks of fresh mango and the lemon lime swirl you could taste the distinct flavors. My husband had a couple scoops of jamoca almond fudge and agrees on the taste. They make the ice cream by scratch. They also have a coffee bar inside too. Again not a lot of choices but I had the London Fog tea and it was good. I wish they had sleeves for the cups.
