I'm so happy that they finally opened one in Montgomery Village because I've only had them at downtown Disney before. There is no space to eat inside, but there's plenty of seating outdoors. The staff are super helpful in letting you try all the flavors as well. I love their ice creams because there is so much flavors to choose from. The consistency of the ice cream is perfect , not too creamy and not too icey, and the waffle cones are so fresh that I have to get it every time!! The only downside is the price:(( but, once a while or twice a month, it's worth it as a treat !:)
wow this salt and straw is the real deal! I've had it in both san Jose and socal and this location tastes the exact same! from each season salt and straw has consistently made flavor combos that are not only unique but delicious. the ice cream is creamy and I love that is not too stweet. to many ice cream places are so sweet after 3 bites I can't handle it anymore. the servers are all so nice and helpful about picking flavors.

I'm a fan of Salt & Straw. Get the app, you can earn rewards. I usually like their unique monthly feature series but the June chef series didn't hit for me, but there is always their regular standard flavors. Last month's flower series was really good. Something different is they offer flights, 4 scoops of your choice in a sectioned to go container. That was fun to pick out flavors and enjoy later at home. This visit they also had strawberry waffle cones. The taste testing is always a good experience and staff is really helpful.

Came here after a cooking class across the way because we were in desperate need of dessert! My best friend has never had Salt & Straw before, so I was super excited for her to try some unique ice cream flavors! Happy to report that her mind was blown! I've always loved S&S for their seasonal flavors, and you can never go wrong with their base flavors either! Of course we sampled multiple. They had a farmer's market theme when we went, and all the flavors we tried were superb! I ended up getting the Tomato Gelato with Olive Brittle. This was soooo yummy! Subtle tomato flavor with a nice, salty brittle. I also tried their melon and prosciutto (the other flavor I was torn between) and their pickled cucumber sorbet (which wasn't my fave). My friend got the cucumber sorbet, and my husband ended up getting sea salt with caramel ribbons (one of their year round flavors). They also had a deal going on for their pints when we went. We were able to purchase and leave the pints in the freezer while we went outside to enjoy our ice cream. Employees were super nice and patient with us while we were trying out their flavors! I'm sure they're used to it, but it can't be easy having indecisive customers! Can't wait to come back and see what rotating flavors they have next!
I have tried salt & straw in other places and was hyped when they opened one here locally. I absolutely love the fact that they let you try as many ice cream flavors as you want and they do not make a big deal out of it. I wish this place was around when I was a kid as when I was a kid and we would go to a different ice cream shops. The workers were never this friendly about letting you try different flavors. Service here is spectacular. The employees are always very well-versed in what they are serving as well as in the flavors. I enjoy the fact that they let you try unlimited flavors and don't make you feel bad for it. I think the actual inside of the shop is really cute. I love the fact that they also offer treats for dogs that you can purchase as well as pints. I got the gooey brownie and it was so good! I also enjoyed the coffee and nuts ice ice cream as well. I felt it was very refreshing. The only thing I will say and it's not necessarily a bad thing is that I have learned my lesson about ordering a small scoop here. This place does serve you a lot for the small so today I ended up getting a kid scoop and for me that was just more than enough. Anyways, I come here periodically because I love how they switch the flavors and there's always something new as well as the staff. 10 out of 10 .
It's nice that Montgomery Village now has an ice cream spot and there is lots of seating area outside Salt and Straw. There was a short line out the door when I arrived and it moved pretty quickly. It was nothing like the line on opening night which extended down past the stores across Monti's. All the workers are so nice and helpful. Some of their regular flavors are interesting like the olive oil. Honey lavender and chocolate gooey brownie are two of my faves. Their limited edition and last scoop flavors are always so fun. They had a goat cheese marionberry and habanero flavor this week that was interesting, but I wouldn't have been able to eat a whole scoop of it. A scoop is $6.75, double is $8.50. Split single scoop is $7.25. I like getting split scoops but realized a double is only about $1 more so I started getting that whenever I'm going with my fiancé since we usually share. Adding a waffle cone is an extra $1.65 so things can add up quick here. The scoops here have been huge when I've gone but from other reviews some have said theirs was on the smaller end. Seems like it is worker dependent. Overall on the pricier end but if I want to treat myself once in a while, it's worth it to try interesting flavors plus the scoops are pretty big. They also sell pints and an ice cream cake. Enjoy!
Two summers ago, I tried Salt & Straw on Hayes in the city for the first time and the lavender honey stood out to me like no other! Fast forward to opening day of Salt & Straw in Santa Rosa, now I can have it a lot more often! I had a coupon for BOGO on a free scoop. Despite being opening day with a long line out the door, the line moved quickly. I ordered a cone with lavender honey/freckled mint chocolate chip and my hubby got a cone with coffee & love nuts/freckled mint chocolate chip. The scoops are pricy at $6.75 each, it needs to be larger for sure. One thing I noticed is the inconsistency of the scoops, it's already pretty small but depending on the person scooping, it could be even smaller! Look at the attached photo of my hubby's cone versus my cone. That was 2 small scoops and doesn't even reach the top of the cone! Next time I come back, I will get the pints! At least then the amount of ice cream you are getting is consistent. Welcome to town, Salt & Straw!
We were in the area for a late lunch and my hubby couldn't resist as we were walking to our car. This was our second visit to this new spot. They are now offering the Berry series for their limited edition flavors. Their flavors are incredibly unique. They also offer already pre-packaged pints and a couple ice cream cakes in a freezer off to the side if you'd like to stop in and bring some home. They have a few gift items on the opposite wall too. Our server was super friendly, helpful and patient and told us about some of their flavors. She offered to give us tastes on a mini silver spoon of whatever we wanted to try. My husband's favorite is the coffee love nuts in a big waffle cone. We came at a good time because there weren't customers lined up out the door like the last time. There are plenty of seats outside. I was too full to get one this time but we will surely be back. Hubby absolutely loved his special treat.
I love Salt & Straw so much. I've never been so excited for a chain to open in Santa Rosa! The atmosphere in here is great. The workers are THE BEST. Insanely friendly and so helpful; not to mention patient! Love their unique monthly flavors but you can't go wrong with their classics. We got their Oiishi Strawberry Pretzel Salad, which is their current month flavor. It's SO GOOD. The combination of the salty pretzel and sweetness of the strawberry works so well together. Get it while you still can! Personal favorites from the classic flavors are: Sea Salt w/ Caramel Ribbons, Arbequina Olive Oil, and Honey Lavender! Note that it is on the pricer side for ice cream but I think it's a nice once in a while treat! Especially for the unique flavors.
Originally signed up here for the yelp event but realizing that I am Leaving one day early made me go to the store and grab a cone for me and hubby! We have always loved salt and straw so we were so excited when we found out about SR location. I got the pear and blue cheese which is surprisingly good and my husband got the salted malted cookie dough. Both were great! Service is great! Staff is friendly and the vibe of the place is cool! I love the mural on the wall outside for Instagram photos! /) Will definitely go back!
My kryptonite! I have no defense when I am withing a mile radius of a Salt and Straw and have to make a stop. Love the patient service as I tried a couple of flavors before settling on my usual strawberry balsamic.
How do you get your husband to buy you ice-cream? Make him jealous with FOMO of course! A few weeks ago I was craving Salt & Straw. I said to my husband, I'd really like to go to Salt & Straw this weekend. He said he heard me, but he got lazy and we ended up at a Yogurt Time instead. For anyone who has been to Yogurt Time, and Salt & Straw, you know that Yogurt Time is not a substitute for Salt & Straw. It could be a bandaid. A really cheap, generic brand one. Not even the Band-aid brand, but the CVS brand. And to him, he didn't think anything of it. But I, of course, thought otherwise. I wondered: What ever happened to going to Salt & Straw? Why did we get Yogurt Time, as if it's the same thing?! When there is no comparison what-so-ever. I didn't want to nag. And I realized: Why am I waiting for him to take me to Salt & Straw? I'm a grown-a&* empowered woman. I can take my own self to Salt & Straw whenever I want. And that, I did. I got the Coffee and Love Nuts (my first time with this flavor). And holy heck was that good. That night, I told my husband about my treat. I even took a picture to show him the deliciousness that was Coffee & Love Nuts. (See attached) "Why did you go to Salt & Straw with out me????" He asks I recounted the Yogurt Time. Of course he tried to defend himself. The next day, he asks me "Do you want to go to Salt & Straw?" Not because I wanted it but because now he is craving it too. We went and he got the Coffee & Love Nuts and the Gooey Brownie one. We went again, the next week. And the next week. And so on. I know, some may call this manipulation. But sometimes guys just don't know what they're missing until you go to some other Love Nut. (Just saying.. lol) Anyhow... Salt & Straw... OG from Portland. Such high quality ice cream known for their strange flavors. I will have to admit, the strange flavors can be hit or miss. So please sample before getting. I love their creativity. I love their quality. I love that they're not Yogurt Time. Hey, Yogurt Time has its time and place. But Salt & Straw? Whole other universe. Peace out. read more

So good!! Salt & Straw just opened in Santa Rosa and it's already a hit. The ice cream tastes super fresh, and the cones are amazing. The people working there were super nice. Such a perfect spot for a sweet treat on a Summer day. read more
My third visit and I enjoyed the experience as much as the first two. Everyone is friendly and helpful, allowing as many samples as needed to make a selection. I chose a scoop of the chocolate gooey brownie, in a cup, and sat outside at one of many seating areas. I'll definitely be back for more! read more
Visited on opening day. Super busy, staff was very friendly. Cute shop. No seating inside but plenty of places to eat outside. Interesting combos of ice cream to try. Tried a few samples and everything was really tasty. My only complaint is that the scoops are pretty small for the price you pay. Will be back to try some new flavors for sure. read more

FINALLY! Salt and Straw have finally brought their incredible, handmade, creative take on ice cream to the Northbay. This was their grand opening and they clearly have lots of fans up this way, IYKYK. They were showcasing their summer pie series but after tasting the, I decided on the Marionberry oatmeal cobbler and my perennial favorite, Coffee love nuts. Soooo good! As always service is friendly and sampling is encouraged. As an added bonus, local roasting legend, and Yelp favorite, Avid Coffee showed up proffering cups of their outrageously rich and smooth cold brew. What a fun experience. I can't wait for them to bring back my all time fave, beer and bacon. read more
Came here during elite week to try their delicious ice cream. There was a lot of flavors to choose from and the staff are so nice and they encourage you to try the flavors first. Service was fast despite the long lines. Although there's no sitting inside there's plenty of chairs outside to choose from. Will definitely be back to try other flavors. read more

Finally a Salt and Straw in Santa Rosa!! Got to try some of their summer series flavors. I got the lemon one and the strawberry balsamic and both were absolutely delicious. My favorite is their waffle cone, nothing beats a good waffle cone with your ice cream. The ambiance of the store and store front is so cute and staff were all so friendly. I would definitely be coming back more often since its closeby and great parking! read more

Same great service, and inviting people that you find in any other salt and straw franchise, and same great quality. But biggest point of contention would be the serving size compared to other salt and straw franchises. Prices are the same as the franchises you see in the bay area, but noticealby smaller servings. Scoop size pictures is single, which would argue is equivalent to a kids size at other locations. Originally ordered a kids size and had to upgrade to a single because there was enough room for the kids scoop to troll around in the cup. Delicious but couldn't justify the kids serving costing over $5 read more

We decided to try out the spot when we were in Montgomery Village for a book. The location is great. It has access to the rest of the main part of the village. We walked in, looked like a very high end soap shop. Wood, paneling, and low lighting. It wasn't clear where the checkout was and where one would order. It was not a large enough space to get too lost though! We were invited by a server to move up in line since he was free. Very nice service staff. We were offered any samples we wanted. The samples were given on metal spoons, which were returned in cute. "spoons lots" in the front of the bar. I tried the Marion Berry cornbread as a sample. It was very good, but not really what I was looking for. My husband had the double vanilla which he said he liked a lot, but found it too sweet. I ended up having the gooey chocolate brownie. It was good ice cream - quite smooth and creamy. Chocolate ice cream inherently has difficulty tasting super chocolatey since it is so cold. I think the brownies were fine, but they were very sweet in the middle of a lot of sweet. The waffle cones are amazing. I think that might be their signature. They're very long and very skinny. They are clearly made there so everything smells like waffle cone. My perspective on the ice cream was that it was a little too sweet for my taste. Overall, this is an excellent addition to the Santa Rosa ice cream scene alongside Dave's Ice cream in West Santa Rosa. I am not partial to Nimble and Finns in downtown so Salt and Stone is a nice option. read more

My second time in since their grand opening and such a delicious spot to pickup a sweet treat. Super efficient layout once in the front door, a line neatly framed by rails guides you to the ice cream counter. On sturdy little silver spoons, a dedicated team member invites you to sample as many flavors as you please before ordering scoops, shakes, cakes, pints or even an *Ice Cream Flight* of (4) flavors....I mean, what a phenomenal option for those of us that just can't decide! On the other hand, if you are a waffle cone fanatic, this place is for you! Super fresh, made on-site with a rich balance of buttery, vanilla-maple essence and just the perfect, soft bite. This Salt & Straw team delivers service at a truly attentive level with contagious smiles and friendly vibes to all age groups. Shout out to my Ice cream server Melissa, who was eager and ready to share and discuss the various 20 flavor profiles and samples on my visit in early July...to Viv who makes the most perfectly, fresh pressed waffle cone cups ever and of course to Finn, who ensured I had an upbeat purchase at the register and warm invite to revisit again soon. From the vibrant ice cream mural on the exterior, to the culinary delights that await you on the inside including pre-packed pints, pup cups and wearable merch, this is a must stop for the solo shopping trip, or family adventure. I chose a foodie flavor this trip: Gruyere & Tomato Custard Tart. Notes: No inside seating, but ample outdoor shaded/sun seating in the MV courtyard that wraps 2 sides of S&S. The acoustics are a little loud inside. The menu of flavors displayed over counter may be hard to for some to read. Many *options covering classics like mint chip, peanut butter fudge, coffee and vanilla to the more adventurous foodie profiles like Olive Oil, Balsamic Strawberry and Pear & Blue Cheese! *There are vegan options. The ice cream texture is firmly frozen, but still soft and silky to eat. read more

I don't post very often, but felt compelled to do so today because of the level of service provided. The ice cream is absolutely fantastic, tried three or four flavors between my family members and they were all A+. The reason I really wanted to post this review today was the service provided by their staff, didn't catch their name, was absolutely fantastic. They were swamped busy, but the staff member that served us was still attentive, friendly, and put up with us being indecisive. It's not all that often when you were impressed by general customer service, but I was impressed. Well done, salt and straw team, we'll be back. read more
